🤍What’s a book you found to be extremely comforting?🤍 Last October, I delved into "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi, and it was a rollercoaster of emotions - yet strangely heartwarming. It gave me the comforting feeling that not all closure is required. I can't quite explain it. ➡️Although I haven't had the chance to dive into the other books in the series, I'm curious if anyone else has read them? Another read that wrapped me in a blanket of comfort was "Most Unlikely" by Dani J. Norwell. As an expat navigating the challenges of forming new friendships; this book resonated deeply with me. It beautifully illustrates the idea that friendships can blossom in the most unexpected places and among the most unexpected people. I gifted my mom this book over Christmas because it speaks volumes about the timeless nature of friendship and some other personal reasons I won’t divulge. Let’s just say it's a touching narrative of self-discovery and the bonds we forge along the way. Sometimes, books have a way of finding us at precisely the right moment, and "Most Unlikely" was definitely one of those.

It’s almost the end of April! 🔥 what goals have you smashed so far in 2024? Earlier in the year I finished drafting book 2 and I sent book 1 off to beta readers. Soon after that I started drafting book 3 of my trilogy, The Lost Tribe. 🍃 I’ve also done loads of research on self publishing, and I’m at a point now where I can start putting together a solid publishing plan including kickstarters, street teams, Pyromancer merch, free gifts, special editions, and ART ✨ I didn’t reach my goal of 5k followers by the end of March, but I’m soooo close to 5k right now!! So I changed it to the end of May. I’m a mom of 3 teenagers, actress, bookseller at Barnes & Noble and most recently an aspiring author! 😜 I’m a lifelong reader, although I lost my mojo for a while when my kids were little. Day 3 Character Profiles. ➡️ Character profiles are the best way to store the most important information about your characters in one place. Profiles can be created on a piece of paper, in a digital document or in a note-taking app like Notion. ✒️Create a rough character profile for your characters, main and otherwise. You don’t have to go into details at this time. Simply note down the basics like their physical features, their goals in life, the reason why they act the way they do. ‼️When drafting characters, keep in mind how their attitudes, backgrounds and even physical features affect the plot. As the story progresses, it is not unusual for your character’s psychology to change so do not fixate on the details. It is only important that you understand your character’s most basic motivations at this time. To-do list 1️⃣ Decide where you want to create your character profile. 2️⃣ Make a list of information you need to fill in. 3️⃣ Group the information into Basics, Physical attributes, Background and Relationships, Daily routine and Psychology. 4️⃣ Add information into the Basics, Physical attributes and the Psychology areas. When was the last time you sat back and said, “You know what? I’m doing a good job.” My guess is that it’s been a while. Am I right? It’s SO important to practice this with yourself as you’re working on writing your book. Offer yourself some gratitude for all of the time and effort you’ve put in to get to where you are. Celebrate the steps you’ve been taking in the right direction. Even if they’re not great big leaps and bounds, they’re movement. They’re worth acknowledging! Take a moment and give it a try. Day 2 Character names and short plot outline. Give your characters names. It doesn’t have to be a full name (it can even be an initial) but it has to identify the character and differentiate them from others in your story. You can decide full names (and any potential meaning later). This is not final and can be changed as the story progresses so no pressure. Develop the plot of your story and create a short outline. How to do this? Summarise your story in three lines; one line for the beginning, the middle and the end. This might be hard to do but it is essential. Expand on each of these lines (or acts) by writing one paragraph for each act.
