Guys and gals, if you want to maintain balance and success in your health not just now, but for the long-term, shifting your mindset to thinking of your health journey like it’s a dial can help you achieve that. Here’s a picture of one of my clients doing just that. She’s super busy right now. So instead of sticking to the set of habits we chose a week ago, all she’s doing now is dialing things back to just one habit, and that’s logging #protein intake daily. Huge win. When life gets busy? Turn the dial down. Break down the habits you’re working on even smaller. Like uber small to the point where you’re questioning things 😂. When life is going great? Turn things up a notch, or, just keep them where they are and enjoy the ride. Looking at your health journey this way prevents this sort of black-and-white all-or-nothing thinking where it’s either I’m ALL in or ALL out. When you see things like they are on a dial, you still keep moving forward. 1% better each day is better than 0%. Check in with yourself. Do you need to turn the dial down? Or, are you feeling confident and ready to crank it up a bit for an extra challenge? Or, are you content where you’re at (perfectly fine here, too!). Day 1: 21 day walking challenge completed 6 round of walk. If you’ve ever had a PT or Nutrition coach work these out but never understood how or why they got those numbers, hopefully this will help you understand the process. I gained 60 lbs during my postdoctoral education & studying for my specialist exam. The weird thing? It took me a long time to see it in the mirror. It was when I was trying to wear clothes that I hadn’t put on for a while… and when I saw myself in pictures… These were the things that made reality hit hard. I let it happen despite all the education I had in exercise and nutrition. But if I gained it all back, I’d take the same steps I did to get to where I am right now… and I’d start with the things above. Getting from that 60 lbs to where I am now could seem overwhelming… but having a plan, guidance, and accountability to keep you on point, can take a lot of stress off of your plate. I was stunned when he said it…when I heard it came from a popular app (which I won’t name) it blew me away.⁠ ⁠ “I was using an app and it kept telling me I was eating too little and it could cause weight gain.”⁠ ⁠ It’s a concept that’s been around for a long time…⁠ and there’s so much misinformation out there that confuses people about what’s true and what’s not.⁠ ⁠ You could⁠ ⁠ 1. Get so hungry that you have these all out binge periods (which means you're not eating too little).⁠ ⁠ You could also⁠ ⁠ 2. Be holding extra water in different body tissues (which would be a short term side effect that doesn't affect long term results).⁠ ⁠ But you can’t gain weight from eating too little…⁠ ⁠ and eating too little can’t keep you from losing weight.⁠ ⁠ There’s only 1 way you would be gaining weight. You’re eating more calories than you burn.⁠ ⁠ The bottom line is, the less you eat the less body fat you’ll have.⁠ ⁠ And if you’re going to eat less, you should be losing at a rate that is safe, healthy, and responsible.⁠ ⁠ What’s the most common myth you hear or what’s something you’re unsure about?⁠

My Fitbit weekly report. The weight loss is since I began a few months back, not for last week. I'm working on my resting heart rate get lower again and I know I should have more sleep but I'm not the best sleeper. I wake up a few times in the night and often find it a struggle to switch off.
