Keeping it simple on a Sunday with a 15:00 (tops!) meal prep. Chicken thighs Frozen stirfry veg Soy sauce Local honey Add your noodles or rice of choice. For work, I like to go with individual microwave rice packs ♥️ You can easily make 6-8 serves in a nice big pan or wok and it doubles as dinner for tonight! Win-win! Ps. Protein og atter protein 🤯 Vi læser og hører om det hele tiden i fitness/sundhedsindustrien, hvor vigtigt det er, at få den rette mængde for at kunne nære sine gains, eller for at kunne tabe sig. MEN hvor vigtigt er protein i virkeligheden i vores kost🤷🏼‍♀️ Hvor meget skal vi have 🤷🏼‍♀️ Er det ligemeget hvilken proteinkilde man får🤷🏼‍♀️ Protein er et makronæringsstof og er vigtig i vores kost af flere grunde. Protein er en afgørende byggesten for at opbygge og reparere væv, herunder muskler, hud, hår og negle. Derudover spiller proteiner en central rolle i mange biologiske processer i kroppen, herunder enzymaktivitet, immunfunktion og hormonregulering. Protein hjælper også med at mætte og stabilisere blodsukkeret. Det anbefalede daglige indtag af protein varierer afhængigt af faktorer som alder, køn, vægt, aktivitetsniveau og mål. Generelt anbefales det at voksne får omkring 0,8 til 1 gram protein pr. kilogram kropsvægt pr. dag for at opretholde muskelmasse og generel sundhed. Aktive personer eller dem, der ønsker at opbygge muskler, eller tabe sig, har brug for mere protein. To proteinkilder som er værd at kende forskellen på er whey protein og kasein protein. Især hvis man ønsker at tabe sig eller opbygge mere muskelmasse. Whey protein er hurtigtoptagende, hvorfor det er godt at indtage efter træning for at kickstarte restitutionen og give musklerne noget næring, når man under træningen har nedbrudt muskelvævet og protein er nødvendigt for at genopbygge og reparere disse skader igen. Kasein protein er langsommere at fordøje, så det er ideelt at spise før sengetid for at give en konstant frigivelse af aminosyrer til musklerne i løbet af natten, og som ekstra bonus holder det en mæt i længere tid. If you’re feeling uninspired to eat fruits and vegetables, get out of the supermarket. A message from @crossfit , especially in the Paleo days, was to meet and make friends with your local butcher, baker and farmers market traders. It was (again) about building community but it was also about buying local and seasonal. We all know food tastes better when it’s in season. Supermarkets are convenient, but seeing all our fruit and veg in plastic and never changing is actually an unintentional turn off. It’s incredibly uninspiring. Seeing our fruit and veg in abundance, the different colour varieties, the smells and flavours that scream freshness makes us much more likely to eat it. Purple carrots, green cauliflower, yellow and pink tomatoes, purple potatoes and grapes - they all give our bodies different micronutrients to the colours we are used to. PLUS, you can ask the traders about their produce. While you might have to go out of your way to get to a local market, it’s worth it. Make a regular occasion of it. It might be just what you need to get out of your fruit and veg FUNK if you’re in one right now. #market #fresh

Do you actually know how much you’re eating? One way to get a thorough understanding is to track everything you eat for 1 week. Then take an average of your: - average calories - average protein Nothing is going to give you a more accurate snapshot of your current intake than this. Tracking apps make it super simple and while you might want to track for longer - one week will be all you need to make significant change. One week will also tell you a lot about your eating habits. - are you eating 1200 calories Monday to Friday and then eating 3000 on Saturday/Sunday? You might be wondering why you’re not losing weight eating 1200 calories per day when your average is actually 1715. (Please don’t try to eat 1200 calories - FTLOG!) - are you eating 0.7g of protein per pound of body weight every day? (Eg 64kg x 2.2 = 141 x 0.7 = 99g) - are you eating anywhere near 800g of fruit and veggies per day or are you closer to 100g? - what is your fibre like? Are you getting 25-30g a day? - how many barcode scannable items are you including? Is every single item you eat coming out of a packet? You can learn so much from ONE WEEK and you can therefore also make significant change both to your calorie intake and to your food quality. Instead of jumping on some new year fad diet bandwagon that you know is a waste of money and isn’t going to work, please just try this first. I know that you will have some really obvious changes that you can make that will get you real and long lasting results. This takes time, anything that suggests otherwise is leading you astray. PSA - Tracking can get a bad rap, and as a nutrition coach I won’t always prescribe it - but, for many it is an ideal way to understand how much you’re eating. Why did we want to re-create “The Capitol” in Melbourne? The expression of Functional Movements done at relative high intensity is not often seen outside of a gym - unless at competition. This workout gives us a unique opportunity to showcase CrossFit in the “real world” - not just behind our windows on Flinders Lane. It is a true a proper expression of real-life movement. Things that we all would need to do at some point in our every-day lives. Flip something heavy to move it. Run. Carry heavy objects in our hands. Carry a heavy and awkward load out in front. But even more so than that it is a chance to showcase what it truly means to be a CrossFitter and that is, that you are a part of something much bigger than your local box. You are a part of a GLOBAL community who regularly push themselves and do hard things. The most common sentiment from this event is - I didn’t think I could do it and now I have. I’ve done something I didn’t know I could do and I’m so proud. THAT is why we do this. To show you that you are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for. You can do hard things and we are going to guide you, help you and show you how. We are beyond proud of our CrossFit CBD family. It’s beyond words. See you again Next Year. The warm-up AFTER the warm-up - if you’re not doing it, you should be. Specific Prep, Specific Warm Up, Progressive Overload Phase, Skill Portion - they all can be used interchangeably. Essentially it is your opportunity to connect to your workout. Here at Ultra we call it specific prep. Because it is preparation of the specific movements you have ahead of you. This could be: - movement progressions. Broken down parts of a movement to ensure you’re getting it *just* right. - skill progressions: A progressive plan to move you from simpler versions of a movement to more skilled and challenging versions. - progressive overload: An opportunity to load your movement above and beyond the workout weight to help you WIN your workout (and choose the correct scaling) - a tester round/primer: an opportunity to warm up your lungs while also testing your choices under “WoD” conditions The specific prep is an integral part of preparing you to get the most out of your workout but most of all to PROGRESS YOU as an athlete. You get better at skills, you lift heavier and you refine your movement patterns *outside* of the WoD. You’re moving slower and on purpose. It’s important - so make time for it.
