A study (RCT) investigated the cognitive and mood effects of peanut consumption over a six-month period. 📝 Ninety participants (average age 23) were divided into skin roasted peanuts (SRP), peanut butter (PB), and control butter (CB) groups after a two-week peanut-free period. 63 participants completed the study. Before and after the six-month period they took biological samples (e.g. blood) and body measurements (e.g weight, height) and tested participant’s memory and thinking skills, and how much polyphenol they were getting from peanuts. 📊 Results showed that the group eating skin roasted peanuts (SRP) had less anxiety compared to the regular butter group (CB) after six months, with all three groups showing a significant decrease in depression scores over the six-months period. Both SRP and PB groups showed improvement in immediate memory, whereas the control group showed improvement in recognition memory. Additionally, the PB group showed enhancements in total memory after the six-months period compared to before. ❗️To give a potential explanation to the found effects of daily peanut consumption on memory and stress response, the researchers investigated the bioactive compounds. They found that the more polyphenols people got from peanuts, the better their memory was and the less stressed they felt. ‼️In summary, the integration of peanuts into a healthy diet may benefit cognition and mood. These findings show that what we eat can really affect how our brains work and how we feel. Since the sample only consisted of 63 participants with 44 being female and with a rather low average age, it needs more studies investigating this matter to strengthen the point though. 🔜 Ready to eat more peanuts? I’m sure you have heard of it, and have seen your favorite “fitspo” posting it as they shove mac & cheese in their face 🙄. It has become the new “way” to reach your goals. . Simply put, you can eat whatever foods you want as long as you stay in your caloric allowance for the day. It essentially gives you the green light to order those fresh Krispy Kreme’s, go ham on Friday nights appetizers and happy hour drinks, and to wake up and smother your pancakes in butter. . But let’s think for two seconds. . Because there are more definitions to “health” than just the number on the scale isn’t there. . Yes, you can absolutely eat and ribs and lose weight. But do you think your body is getting the needed nutrients it needs? . That’s a big NO. . Sometimes I think we have lost sight of why we are all in this “fitness” thing- to feel the best we can. To perform the best we can. And to give our bodies THE BEST WE CAN. . Our bodies cannot be their best when we are giving them subpar fuel to run on. When we stop focusing on true HEALTH simply for the scale, we lose vital micronutrients. We lose vitamins. We lose fiber. We lose VEGETABLES. . Eat for your brain. Eat for your skin. Homemade peanut butter & raspberry cups 🍫😋 Ingredients: dark chocolate chips, peanut butter, raspberries, chia seeds and maple syrup, sea salt (optional) Melt the chocolate chips until smooth and spoon a small amount into the bottom of the baking paper cups. Let sit in the freezer to harden then take it out and spoon a small amount of peanut butter on the chocolate base. Make sure to make the peanut butter layer smaller than the chocolate base. Then mash raspberries, add chia seeds and a little maple syrup. Spoon on top of the peanut butter. Let set in the freezer for a little bit, then take out and add the top layer of melted chocolate. Let set in the freezer or fridge. You can add some sea salt on top (I did) and enjoy! #healthyrecipes #healthydessert

This Quick "Spaghetti" Bolognese is so easy to make and absolutely delicious! All you need is a handful of wholesome ingredients like spaghetti squash, ground beef, tomato passata & garlic. 🥩🧄🍅🌱 It's a hearty & quick week night or weekend meal. Gluten & grain free + low-carb. ✅ 👉🏻INGREDIENTS 1 lb grass-fed ground beef 1 spaghetti squash 1.5 cup tomato passata 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1/2 tsp. dried basil, or 2-3 fresh basil leaves 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil Sea salt & black pepper , to taste 👉🏻INSTRUCTIONS Spaghetti Squash: Cut spaghetti squash lengthwise and remove seeds with spoon. Bake at 400 for 30-40 min (first 10-min bake with flesh down, then turn so skin is down for remaining time). Fork should pierce skin easily when squash is cooked. Use a fork to scrape out the strands of squash. Quick Bolognese Sauce: In a sauce pan, briefly sauté garlic and dried basil in olive oil over medium heat. If you are using fresh basil, add basil leaves in after step 2. Add tomatoes and bring to a light boil for 5 minutes. Add salt to taste. Bring to medium-low heat and let simmer for 20-minutes. In a separate pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until lightly browned. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add tomato sauce into pan with beef and let ingredients cook together over medium-low heat for a few minutes. 🍌🥜Banana bread au beurre de cacahuète🥜🍌 Sans gluten - sans laitage - sans sucre INGRÉDIENTS - Trois œufs 🥚 - Un yaourt soja nature sans sucre ajouté - 4 Bananes bien mûres 🍌 - 100 g de beurre de cacahouète sans sucre ajouté 🥜 - 100 g de beurre végétal 🧈 - carrés de chocolat 80% 🍫 - Un petit pot de farine sans gluten RECETTE 1. Préchauffer le four à 210 degré, chaleur tournante. 2. Faire fondre le beurre dans une casserole et rajouter le beurre de cacahouète. Mélanger. 3. Dans un saladier, écraser les bananes. 4. Healthy Chicken Fried Rice 1tbsp Sesame Oil 500g lean turkey or chicken mince 1 microwave bag rice I like the brown basmati quinoa 1- 2 carrots chopped 2 eggs 2 egg whites 3 spring onions 2 garlic cloves crushed or 1tbsp garlic 1 cup peas 1 red bell pepper 3tbsp soy sauce 1. Heat oil in pan and cook chicken mince. 2. once done spoon into a side dish leaving juices in pan. 3. add all the chopped veg to the same pan. After 1-2 mins add crushed garlic, cook for a further few mins 4. scrape veg to one side of the pan and pour in lightly your eggs. 4. microwave rice 5. once eggs are almost cooked mix with the veg 6. Mix rice and add chicken back into the pan 7. stir and pour 2-3 tbsp soy sauce and cook for a further few mins Enjoy, with a sauce if you fancy.. Curry or siracha is always yum .. Italian-Inspired Chicken Avocado Caprese🍅🥑🍗 Ingredients: For the salad: 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, grilled and sliced 🍗 2 avocados, peeled, pitted, and sliced 🥑 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved 🍅 1 cup fresh mozzarella balls, halved 🧀 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn 🌿 For the balsamic glaze: 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar 2 tablespoons honey 🍯 Directions: Prepare the chicken: Grill the chicken breasts until fully cooked and nicely charred. Healthy Chicken Fried Rice 1tbsp Sesame Oil 500g lean turkey or chicken mince 1 microwave bag rice I like the brown basmati quinoa 1- 2 carrots chopped 2 eggs 2 egg whites 3 spring onions 2 garlic cloves crushed or 1tbsp garlic 1 cup peas 1 red bell pepper 3tbsp soy sauce 1. Heat oil in pan and cook chicken mince. 2. once done spoon into a side dish leaving juices in pan. 3. add all the chopped veg to the same pan. After 1-2 mins add crushed garlic, cook for a further few mins 4. scrape veg to one side of the pan and pour in lightly your eggs. 4. microwave rice 5. once eggs are almost cooked mix with the veg 6. Mix rice and add chicken back into the pan 7. stir and pour 2-3 tbsp soy sauce and cook for a further few mins Enjoy, with a sauce if you fancy.. Curry or siracha is always yum .. I find the longer it rests the more delicious it is .. This is enough for 3 adult portions .. #fakeaway #healthyrecipes

Then use that structure today to get you motivated for the week. Give yourself permission to be vulnerable with yourself and be 100% truthful. When you are able to get your emotions behind your actions, you won’t have a problem making the change you are craving to make.

🍪 Cookie Sticks 🍪 These are Kosher for Passover and are sweetened with maple syrup and chocolate chips. So simple to make and much better than the junk-filled desserts from the store. Ingredients: 2 cups almond flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4c maple syrup 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 tablespoons avocado or coconut oil 2 eggs Chocolate chips Mix all the ingredients and form into a log. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes and cut into sticks and bake for another few minutes to get them harder. Einfach: Gesunde Cashew-Dattel Energieballs machen gute Laune 👩‍🍳💁‍♀️: 150 g Cashewkerne mit 150 g in heißem Wasser eingeweichten Datteln im Mixer zu einer homogenen Masse zerkleinern.
