I’ve read a few others by the same author, so it was cool to read something else. Overall it’s very very cute and is a quick easy read. The illustrations are beautiful and it’s a very sweet story. The friendships Morgan has with her friends are very nice. The sacrifice at the end was very touching. There is some internalized homophobia, which is sad, but realistic. Little Fish by Casey Plett: I read this book with a book club. To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan and I don’t think I really got it. I’m not sure I would have picked it out myself, but I still think it was worth reading and I can still appreciate it. It gave me insight into a way of life I’m not super familiar with, and I had some great conversations with my book club. It is very well written. There were a lot of great moments and passages that felt really impactful. It’s also always interesting to read books set in my home city. There’s lots of little moments where I’m like “I know that place!” The ending was unsatisfying, but realistic. We never really get real answers about some of the characters, which is disappointing from a reader’s point of view, but makes sense in real life. It’s also oddly hopeful. Wendy goes through a lot of shitty circumstances, but she ends up feeling okay about her life. Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Saenz: I loved the first Ari and Dante book and was very excited when the sequel came out, and finally got around to reading it. Overall I really enjoyed it, but I was less enthralled in it than the first one. It’s quite different from the first one. It’s more mature. It’s also less sad. Ari has accepted himself and is now trying to find his place in the world. It’s less about internalized homophobia and more about external homophobia and the cruelty of the world. It also talks about the AIDS crisis a fair bit, which makes sense given when it’s set and was important to touch on. It’s terrifying to think about growing up as a young queer person who is just discovering and coming to terms with who you are during the AIDS crisis. There is much more romance in it than the first one and shows more of Ari and Dante’s relationship now that they’ve expressed their feelings to each other. One thing that bugged me a bit was it’s unclear how long after the first book this takes place. That’s a very minor thing though. Overall it was a very nice read. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (RE-READ): I first read this book about 5 or 6 years ago and loved it then. It’s been on my list of favourite books ever since. I was very excited when the sequel came out, but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet, but since it’s been so long since I read the first one I thought I’d re-read it before I read the second one so I can remember what’s going on. Sometimes I’m a bit nervous to re-read books I loved because sometimes books exist in a perfect little bubble in my mind. I read a book and love it and call it a favourite, but then when I reread it it isn’t quite as amazing as the first time. That didn’t happen this time. I was not disappointed, I love reading it again, and it was just as if not more amazing as the first time. It’s beautifully written. It’s pretty simple and conversational, but it’s done beautifully. I think part of it is the use of repetition of words and phrases. It makes it feel like real thoughts and adds emphasis. There is so much love and emotion in this story. There’s so much tension and it’s the world’s slowest slow-burn. There are a lot of emotions, but often they’re hidden away. There is so much sadness in Ari, and the most devastating thing is that he doesn’t realise it. There’s a lot of internalized homophobia, and it examines familial tension and toxic vs healthy masculinity and what it means to be a man and grappling with the uncertainty. It’s a very real coming of age story. The characters are all very well rounded, including the parents, which I feel like doesn’t happen often in YA books. Overall, it was a great read. Heartstopper Volume 5 by Alice Oseman: I love Heartstopper, and was very excited when Volume 5 came out. As always, it’s adorable and really sweet. This one is more mature than the other volumes though. Thus far there has been a lot of serious subject matter, but this volume feels more grown up, more adult. It’s about growing up and maturing and moving on and next steps, both in personal life and development and in relationships. It explores next steps in relationships and how they can be big deals, but also don’t have to be. It’s also about figuring out who you are as an individual outside of your relationship and maturing on your own. It’s definitely becoming more “coming of age”, and I think it’s nice to see Nick and Charlie grow up. It was a great read, and there were a lot of moments that reminded me of my girlfriend and I. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon: I first heard about this book years ago. I have pet rats and used to get a pet rat magazine. In one issue there was an article about the Broadway play adaptation of this book, and in it starred a rat! Since then I’ve been intrigued, and have finally gotten around to reading it. Basically, I read it because there’s a rat in it. Overall I quite enjoyed it, but I’m kind of left wondering what the point was. I’m not sure what I should have taken away from it. It’s quite ridiculous, but the absurdity is entertaining. The beginning was kind of slow, but then it picked up a bit and as there was more action it was more intriguing. There were a few twists / big reveals that were genuinely quite shocking, which kept things entertaining. I kept wondering what strange thing would happen next. However I also kept thinking about the rat (Toby). I kept wondering about Toby and where he was and how he was doing and I was concerned about the care Toby was getting, since Toby is in Christopher’s pocket for a lot of the book. Christopher is not the best rat owner. It’s very conversational and definitely character driven. The chapters are super short, which I liked and there are lots of images, graphs, etc. throughout, which I think is neat and unique. Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe: I’d heard this book was very good, and someone I know recently bought it, so I asked if I could borrow it and finally read it! The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper: I keep seeing praises from “Phil Stamper, author of The Gravity of Us” on other books, so I thought I should check it out. I got it for Christmas, and this is my first read of the year! Overall, I really enjoyed it. It’s dramatic without being too cliche, and it’s very well written. At times the romance felt a bit rushed, but it still worked. It’s not a coming out story, and there’s practically no homophobia. While both things are important to see represented, I see it a lot, so it’s refreshing to read a book that doesn’t dwell on them. It also touches on mental health and how sometimes you can’t help or fix mental health issues for people. Often you don’t have the skills to, and you need to step back and let them help themselves. There were also a few tragic events, and they seemed to come out of the blue. I get that that’s how it happens in real life, but a bit of foreshadowing could’ve been good. Another thing I liked was the incorporation of interviews, sort of epistolary elements, which I think I’d really neat. I bought it ages ago because I’d heard it was banned and has been impactful. It was a quick, easy read and was enjoyable enough, although I didn’t love it. It’s definitely aimed at a younger audience. Personally, I didn’t find it very relatable. Even thinking back to when I was that age. I did not feel the same way as Margaret. However, I can see how it could be relatable and helpful to some people growing up. It’s definitely a character driven book. Pageboy by Elliot Page: I don’t know a ton about Elliot Page and haven’t seen many things he’s in, but I have seen Juno and Umbrella Academy and enjoyed them. My limited knowledge of him and the fact that this is a queer story made me pick up this book. I usually read fiction, so this was a change. I’ve read some memoirs, but some memoirs are more interesting than others. This one was written less like a story and more like snippets or memories pieced together into a book. This made us feel less continuous and less exciting. The book was good, enjoyable, but not riveting, and it took me a while to read. Она для кожи головы и да, с ней нужно повозиться: Моем голову → Сушим волосы → Распределяем сыворотку по коже головы → Ждём полчаса (можно дольше) → Смываем. Смывать обязательно ☝️ Сыворотка содержит масла, которые нежелательно оставлять надолго на коже головы. ✨ Буквально за три применения, сыворотка даёт ощутимые результаты: моя несчастная челка выглядит гораздо презентабельнее. ✨ Макушка не выглядит, как пакля, а это важно, особенно на редких волосках. ✨Сзади вид мне тоже нравится больше. Видино, что волосы не мыты, но чрезмерной жирности, как таковой, я не наблюдаю. Расход зависит от количества волос. Цена - копейки. 3в1 Что тут думать? 🤷 Нет ничего более постоянного, чем временное © В итоге утюжком я пользовалась год 🙈😅. ✅ Укладка с ним гораздо проще. ✅ Гофре мелкое, при желании, можно сделать большой объем. ✅ Цена, естественно. ✅ Быстрый нагрев. ✅ Длинный шнур (1.5м) ❌ Сжигает волосы (это само собой, регулятора же нет). ❌ Износостойкость так себе, все работает, но пластиковые детальки подгорели. ❌ Дерет волосы. Они застревают между пластинами и пластиком. ❌ Плойка неудобная, зажим слабый и пряди выпадают. ❌ Фурнитура (кнопки, выключатель) неудобные, совсем. 🖤Жидкие патчи🖤 Обожаю пробовать все необычное, и в этот раз выбор пал на жидкие патчи от @mavvel_cosmetics Не сразу к ним привыкла. Из-за ментола немного слезились глаза, но результат того стоил 🔥 Теперь это мои любимки. Как они работают? 🖤Наношу небольшое количество средства под глаза, чуть подальше от слизистой ❌Лопатка моя, в комплекте она не идёт❌ 🖤 20 минут занимаюсь своими делами, ведь в отличие от гидрогелиевых патчей, эти не скатываются. 🖤 Смываю тёплой водой. У патчей накопительный эффект. Сначала кажется, что ничего не происходит, но спустя пару дней применения, они разглаживают мелкие морщинки и убирают отеки. Так же, неплохо снимают следы усталости после работы. 🥱 С отёками борюсь уже давно, никаких объективных причин в их появлении, кроме недосыпа из-за нестабильного рабочего графика нет. Жидкие патчи здорово помогают в этой проблеме. На моей памяти пока, что самые эффективные. 👍
Немного страшно использовать средства такого плана, они обычно мощно подсушивают кожу с первого применения. У меня комбинированный тип кожи. С Серацином от @librederm тоже не хватает увлажнения, но я считаю, что это моя личная особенность. По сравнению с кремами подобного плана, Серацин показал себя получше. + Подсушивает акне, но не пересушивает кожу. + Носик удобен, как для дозирования, так и для точечного применения. +Матирует кожу. + Т-зона (в моем случае), не жирнится в течении дня 💪 + Отличная основа под макияж, не скатывается. - С осторожностью применять на сухую кожу. Можно ограничиться Т-зоной или точечным применением. Я решила комбинировать его с увлажняющим кремом и пока что все идёт по плану. Т-зона не блестит, а щёчки увлажненные 🥰

Березовый сок со спиртом 👎 🌸 Я счастливая обладательница комбинированной, и в то же время, чувствительной кожи. В составе тоника от Lumine заявлен "ALCOHOL" на втором месте. К сожалению, я не сразу это заметила. От этого тоника моя кожа краснеет, он ее буквально сжигает и оставляет после себя шелушения. 😤 + Крутой аромат березового сока. + Жидкая консистенция, хорошо распределяется по коже. + Матирует. - Не подходит чувствительной коже. - Заявлен, как увлажняющий, но по факту сушит кожу. - Парит. Я использовала гораздо меньшее количество, чем осталось в банке. - Ощущение пленки на лице после применения. Иногда протираю им акне, чтобы подсушивал. Повторять точно не буду. 🙅♂
Все ли средства хороши в борьбе с акне? 🤔 Линейка Серацин от Librederm для меня оказалась не такой удачной, как Atopic. Все почему? ☝️Потому, что при ежедневном использовании, средства чуть подсушивают мою комби кожу, в следствии чего, она вырабатывает больше себума. 👍Сейчас применяю гель для умывания раз в неделю для глубокого очищения. Он действительно сужает поры и неплохо справляется с макияжем, стойкую косметику не смоет. После, наношу увлажняющий крем 👌 🍏Яблочный аромат 🔥 На мой взгляд, он подойдет больше для жирной и менее обезвоженной кожи.
