This river runs just above the village of Llanfihangel-ar-arth, which also by happy coincidence is the village pubs WiFi password. The bank is still circa 3m high with a 1m ditch. 10m wide entrance on SE side. Site completely wooded over and surrounded by a fence by the landowner. No recorded excavations or finds, hence undated. These battered and blank-faced effigies of a woman and a man were discovered during restoration work at St Michael and All Angels', Llanfihangel Rogiet, Monmouthshire in 1904. Their damaged condition is probably due to them being used as builders' rubble in previous centuries. The man has suffered particularly, losing an arm and the lower part of his crossed legs. However, the surviving details show the high quality of the carving, which dates from the 13th-14th centuries. The woman, wearing a long robe and wimple and with her feet resting on a greyhound, was identified by an inscription as Anne Martel. The Norman French inscription that runs around Anne's tomb promises forty days' pardon to anyone who will say a paternoster or Ave Maria for her. The other figure, a knight with intricately carved chainmail, flowing surcoat, sword and shield, is thought to be Anne's husband John Martel, Lord of Llanfihangel Manor from 1271-1306.
