Boy meets World...... Boy kills World. Ok. Now that I got your attention that tv show and this movie has no relation at all and nothing in common. This is your classic slap stick non stop action revenge movie with a twist or two. The main character can't talk from getting his tongue cut out. He is on a revenge, killing spree for the death or his family. She story is weak but fun and has a great twist in the final 1/3rd of the movie. Because he can't talk, the movie is mainly inner dialogue H. Jon Benjamin. That's right. Bob, feom Bob's Burger. The body doing all the fighting is Bill Skarsgard. Jessica Rothe also kicks serious butt in this film with this L.E.D. biker helmet she fights in. She feels like a kick ass anime character. Famke Janssen also stars in this film. Between this and Knights of the Zodiac, she has chosen some interesting roles.While the story is lacking at times and the dialogue sucks at times, it has come great choreographed fight sequences. The kitchen scene with the cheese grater is fantastic. The breakfast cereal sponsored death game is goof laughs. Brett Gelman adds good laughs, too. You might remember his from Stranger Things. This movie ain't award winning by any means, it's not trying too. But it's a great no nonsense action film you don't need to think during. 17th theater review of 2024. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. This definitely has the feel of Guy Richie. Since films have a certain feel that gives them away. It's a fun feel. Like his others, this is an enjoyable ride. It does not move along as well as some of his past films. The main cast is stuck on a boat for too much of the movie missing some of the action. Fun story with a fun cast. Henry Cavill is fun. He sticks his tongue out too often and tries to sound a little too much like Cary Elwes. Henry fits the roll great and is better here than when he was superman whi h I thought was great too. Alan Ritchson steals the show. He shines in all his scenes and more so than Cavill. Elza Gonzalez also sticks out and outshines the others here too. The portrayal of Winston Churchill was a let down. I wish it had a little more fun action with Henry and Alan. I really enjoyed seeing the perspective of the war through the photo journalist 📸 The movie works as a war film telling a story of a modern-day civil war. But it also works as a drama and horror. Especially during a scene that involves actor Jesse Plemons that comes after a fun car scene 🪖 The sound design in 'Civil War' is amazing, and the scenes of chaos and carnage are superbly-shot during heart-racing battle scenes 🇺🇲 It also reminded me of 'The Purge' movies in some ways, but with horror that hits pretty close to home from a political side. This movie shows the ethics of war journalism while showing us a "could happen" type of film that's still entertaining. Got to watch #MonkeyMan this #OpeningWeekend and here’s my #SpoilerFreeReview — “A young underclass pugilist from the streets of India, infiltrates a corrupt social club in order to exact a justified vengeance upon one of its most powerful members …” Directed by and starring Dev Patel, ‘Monkey Man’ is a pure revenge thriller. It skews “stylistic” with its manner and visuals, and is highly saturated with relevant, universal socio-political commentary, not constrained to any singular setting. Action-adventures do themselves huge favor and benefit from linear storytelling. Unfortunately, ‘Monkey Man’ relies SOOO heavily on SOOO many flashbacks to steer the plot, you’ll lose count while the movie continuously loses steam. The bad guys are “bad” in the most nondescript, mundane ways possible, and the 3rd act languishes to where you’re fighting just to stay awake … which is ironic seeing as how “fighting” is the only thing the film makes any excuse for. The abundance of persons of color and the film’s ATTEMPT at speaking for underrepresented and victimized populations is commendable. Patel has magnetic screen presence, and could (should) be the next great action hero … Sadly, his talent is squandered with hardly any meaningful dialogue and even less character exploration. “India” as a set-piece also feels wasted, as the “fable-like” elements of the story lack any true majestic expression, only muting the present reality in which it takes place. A 2hr runtime, laden with tropes and gimmicks recycled from better films, ‘Monkey Man’ brings absolutely nothing fresh to the party. It bets all its chips on intense, overly-extended scenes of graphic violence, ad nauseam, for a viewing experience which sends you home empty-handed. Movie #14 this year for me. Godzilla X Kong : the new empire. As you can see, I saw it twice in theaters. Once a regular theater and the 2nd time in Imax. It's definitely a fun film, but nothing amazing. This story starts out with Kong's giant monkey butt. Literally his butt when he jumps. We get a little 90s mortal kombat video game rating by making blood green when we have Kong kill a beast. We basically have 3 stories meet together at the end. Kong's, the human's, and Godzilla's. Godzilla has the weakest story arc as he just walks around the Earth leveling up DragonBall Z style going blue than pink glow super saiyan. His action fights is kind of cool as it's a throwback to older movies it looks like miniatures for the buildings he destroys and sleeps in the coliseum like a dog bed. Mothra is cool in this film. The main villain called Skar King is a straight rip-off of Mattel's 2002 Beastman from the Masters of the Universe toy line. Exact match to the toy. In the final act, we get a beach that gets turned to ice just last last weeks Frozen Empire movie. Godzilla hits a home run with his tail. We then get another Mortal Kombat scene with a finish him and sub zero wins moment. Haha. Oh, can't forget we get a baby Yoda Kong version. I feel like every franchise is adding a baby lately for fans. Got to watch #GodzillaXKongTheNewEmpire this #OpeningWeekend and here’s my #SpoilerFreeReview — “A sinister new threat emerges from Hollow Earth, and the planet’s only hope for survival rests on archenemies, King Kong and Godzilla, working together …” Direct sequel to 2021’s surprisingly terrific ‘Godzilla vs Kong’, ‘New Empire’ reunites the two titans, along with several of their human co-stars. Unfortunately, Millie Bobby Brown and Alexander Skarsgard weren’t present for this go-round, however Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and the impressive Kaylee Hottle were, and they more than cover their absence. What could have been reduced to a mindless cash-grab, instead, shows that if you’re intent on riding the momentum off a previous installment, there’s ways of doing it proper. Visually, the movie’s look is phenomenal, particularly in IMAX 3D, taking everything the first film got right — Keeping the kaiju at the center of the story … less, not more humans, with their arcs (if any) - simple, endearing, and cleanly resolved … And a heaping heavy handful of big monster beatdowns — ‘New Empire’ lowers its head, runs forward, and protects the football. Even in the lighter moments where, despite his inability to speak, Kong, the absolute star of the show, successfully draws viewers in to his personal journey. Big credit to the animators who manage to convey so much storytelling by way of facial affect, body language, and mannerisms in the creature cast. Skar King is a captivating and credible new foil, while Suko, aka “Mini Kong”, is a lot cooler a character than the movie’s marketing suggests 🤣 People presence and mysticism coulda been minimized more, however the humans never get underfoot, and when they do, they get rightly flattened. It’s Godzilla and King Kong’s world … We’re just living in it. Watched @godzillaxkong : The New Empire yesterday. It's a good movie. Quite entertaining. 8/10. Watching this movie made me feel like watching Rise of The Planet of The Apes movie. It gave more stories of Kong than Godzilla. I like that this movie has a few jokes and also there were some touching parts 😊👍. Great fight between Kong, Godzilla, and the other apes. Got me held my breath 👍. All the casts acted very well too 👍. By the way, I really like how nice Kong is 😊👍. PS : no post-credit scene.
13th film of 2024. Immaculate. The film was definitely interesting. It kept my attention the whole film. Sidney did very well as the lead in this film. It also did very well keeping the eerie feeling every step of the way. It did have some parts that they could have dived a little deeper into. One was with the sisters wearing red masks that it never really early explained. The end did lose me. Not in that I didn't understand it, but it that it took things too far. The pain she was in at the end, and be all alone in that moment. The very final moment. Wow. We all saw it coming, but it would have been better eluding to it and not showing it. End of a cringe worthy moment. Movie theater movie # 12 review for the year 2024. First off, it's a very fun movie. As you can see, I already saw it twice. Is it amazing? It's not award winning, but it's not meant to be. Lot of fun jokes. Cool special effects. A decent story. Cool ghosts. It does try to give too many characters there screen time. Some major characters don't get enough story. Phoebe has a cool story with a ghost minus the part where she decides to become a spirit for a couple minutes. Think Casper here, but Melody is a refreshing spirit. Trevor doesn't get a great story and feels like he could have worked better into the script. Ray has the most screentime of the original cast. Maybe too much story. It would of been cool if the film had a music montage ghost scene like the original 2 films had. Janine being a Ghostbuster finally was awesome. Some fun Easter eggs as well. Venkman had what was like a couple cameo scenes but I feel like that is what is needed from the originals now to keep the character count not too overloaded. Walter Peck being back was fantastic. Garraka the main villian as the end, felt rushed at the end. Little more time for him in his true form would of been perfect. 3.75 out of 5 stars. I hope for a 3rd film. I did like afterlife more as it was a little darker and felt more like the originals but frozen empire was great fun. I also had to get a ghostbusters icee to enjoy while viewing.
