More from Mark below, "NGC 3628 is classed as an unbarred spiral galaxy 35 million light years away in Leo. It’s often referred to as the hamburger galaxy. I have to say if I’m going to eat a burger from fast food place it will be Culvers! And this one looks delicious, must be a bacon butter deluxe. It’s also one of the galaxies in the Leo triplet and has a tidal tail that stretches 300,000 light years seen in a nice detail in this image. While classified as unbarred, there is some speculation that it is a barred galaxy due to the X shaped bulge in the central portion. Bar formation is often triggered by interaction with other galaxies, and 3628 is interacting with the other two galaxies in the triplet. The galaxy features numerous dust lanes and several obvious regions of active star formation. There are many distant background galaxies throughout the image. Messier 20 (M20), more commonly known as the Trifid Nebula is a stunning cosmic spectacle located in the constellation Sagittarius. Its name originates from its three-lobed appearance, a fascinating combination of different nebula types. The emission nebulae which I have processed as the pinkish-reddish-orange areas glow due to ionized hydrogen gas, while the blue reflection nebula reflects light from young, hot stars in an active star birth region, then you have the dark nebulae, dense clouds of dust creating the dramatic dark lanes that give the Trifid its three-lobed form. The central region holds a young open cluster of stars, their intense radiation sculpting the surrounding gas and dust. 138 x 600s SHO and 124 x 30s RGB subs shot @0C were taken over 7 nights for an integration time of 24 hours. Eh paf ! Si on relançait la machine ? Et on repart, avec un petit voyage solaire ! Une très belle intensité solaire avec bon bon nombre de tâches (je vous laisse le soin de les compter). On est donc sur le Soleil d'hier (23 Avril 2024) Session photo qui m'aura fait pas mal galérer ! Un vent assez désagréable et des turbulences dans l'atmosphère. La mise au point a été bien difficile.. Environ 700 photos réalisées au total, tout à la poubelle, aucun empilement possible, aucun logiciel ne voulant de moi 🥲 Au final traitement d'une seule photo brute! Belle réussite quand même ! La tête dans les étoiles 📍Sud Lipez, Bolivie - Octobre 2023 J'adore faire de la photo de nuit. On règle l'appareil photo, on programme des poses longues (ici entre 10 et 30 sec ; au-delà, les étoiles dessinent leur trajectoire sous l'effet de la rotation terrestre), puis on contemple le paysage. À cet instant, le froid, le vent, même les doigts engourdis se fondent dans l'oubli. Et puis vient... la révélation ! L'écran affiche la photo. Avec la pose longue, l'appareil révèle des détails que nos yeux ne pourraient jamais percevoir seuls. Je suis tout excité des premiers résultats. Je peaufine les réglages jusqu'à ce que finalement, le froid l'emporte. C'était ma première tentative d'immortaliser la Voie lactée. Qu'en pensez-vous ? Les photos sont un peu floues, probablement en raison d'une mauvaise gestion de la mise au point manuelle. Hadley–Apennine Hadley–Apennine is a region on the near side of Earth's Moon that served as the landing site for the American Apollo 15 mission, the fourth crewed landing on the Moon. Rima Hadley, a sinuous rille located west of the Apollo 15 landing site, begins in an area of low domes at an elongated crater, Béla, and runs on to the North along the Apennine Mountain Range. Some research has suggested that both the rille and Béla are volcanic vents, and lava flows created the features. Another hypothesis suggests that the rille was originally a lava tube, the roof of which collapsed, creating the current appearance of the rille. Several large boulders, some of which are as large as houses, are strewn about the feature's floor. The elongated crater Béla, which forms the beginning of Rima Hadley, could have been formed by the collapse of a shallow magma chamber. Visual observation suggests that the same is the case with other lunar rilles with similar features at their beginnings. Rima Hadley typically ranges in depth between 180 and 270 meters, but is approximately 370 meters deep at the Apollo 15 landing site. The feature has a cumulative length of about 80 kilometres and an average width of about 1.21 km. Lake Thetis is known for its stromatolites, some of the oldest lifeforms on earth, similar to the thrombolites I've photographed several times at Lake Clifton. Mesmerising light show at the Pinnacles desert, Nambung, Western Australia Nikon D3100 Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Star Adventurer Pro 2i Sky: 6x 1min, f/3.5, ISO 3200 Foreground: 3min f/3.5 ISO 1600 Went back to the Pinnacles after a failed attempt a week ago. This time I had a short window of moonless dark sky since the moon was setting in the wee hours of the morning. I had everything set up to start shooting when I turned around and notice there was a sprawling red smudge to the south. At first I thought it was a bushfire but then I realized I was looking at the "Southern Lights" (Aurora Australis). I quickly repointed the camera and took a test shot to gauge how big it was and frame it. I would've loved to capture the whole arch of the Milky Way but the astronomical twilight was quickly catching up with me. So, I decided to go for this vertical panorama where you can see the southern lights in red. Also prominent in the image are the 2 magellanic clouds (satellite galaxies of milky way) towards the bottom left , with the LMC slightly obscured by the aurora. The yellow smudge at the bottom left is light pollution from a nearby town.
