Iโ€™m thrilled to share this celestial duet captured right from my own garden using my telescopeโ€”the Tadpoles and the Flaming Star Nebulae. (IC 405): Discovered in 1892 by Maximilian Wolf, this nebula resides near a group of young stars that separates it from the Tadpole Nebula in the constellation Auriga. Approximately 1,600 light-years from Earth, itโ€™s primarily illuminated by the ultraviolet radiation from the star AE Aurigae. The cloud consists mainly of atomic hydrogen (appearing in red in the photo), but it also contains carbon-rich dust that reflects the starโ€™s blue light, resulting in those bluish regions. A true cosmic symphony! (IC 410): Located about 12,000 light-years away (thatโ€™s 10 times farther!) in the same constellation, IC 410 is an emission nebula. Its luminous hydrogen cloud stretches over 100 light-years. Sculpted by stellar winds and radiation from the open star cluster NGC 1893 nestled within it, IC 410 harbors two notable structures: the famous โ€œtadpoles.โ€ These gaseous clusters, spanning about 10 light-years, are themselves stellar nurseries. Their tails result directly from the pressure of radiation and stellar winds from the nearby cluster. ๐Ÿ”ญ๐ŸŒŒ Unraveling the Mysteries of Black Holes: A New Perspective on Time and Space ๐Ÿ•ณ๏ธโณ Dive into the depths of the universe with scientist Salvatore Capozziello and his team as they unveil the Lorentzian-Euclidean black hole, a cosmic marvel reshaping our understanding of these enigmatic giants. ๐Ÿ’ซ Traditionally, black holes were explained by the Schwarzschild metric, but this new discovery introduces a paradigm shift. The Lorentzian-Euclidean black hole challenges the norm, suggesting a different structure inside, where time becomes imaginary, preventing objects from reaching the singularity. ๐ŸŒ€๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ Their study, utilizing the Hadamard partie finie method, ensures a coherent mathematical explanation, pushing the boundaries of our knowledge. ๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿ“š Reference: Reference:ย Salvatore Capozziello, Silvia De Bianchi, Emmanuele Battista, "Avoiding singularities in Lorentzian-Euclidean black holes: the role of atemporality", Arxiv, 2024.ย https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.17267 Join us at @uncoverreality_ as we explore this groundbreaking research, redefining the cosmos and inspiring a new era of discovery. ๐Ÿš€โœจ #astronomy #astrophysics #starsky #cosmos #cosmologia #cosmology #blackholes #space #planetoutside #discovery3 #galaxies #universetoday #beautifuluniverse #multiverse #timetraveller #astrophile #astrophysicist #astronomer #stars #planets #milkyway #science #sciencelover #gravity #bigbang #quantumphysics #quantum

RCW 35/Gum 18 isn't a single nebula but an HII region, which is a vast cloud of ionized hydrogen gas (red region) where new stars are born. It is located in the constellation Vela (the Sails) and adjacent to the Spiral Flame which I imaged recently. It is ionized by a group of hot, young stars, including the O7.5V star CD-43 4690 and three B-class stars. The energy from these stars excites the hydrogen gas in the nebula, causing it to glow red. 33 x 600s and 28 x 900s SHO and 45 x 30s RGB subs shot @0C were taken over 3 nights for an integration time of about 13 hours. Dark No More: The Low-luminosity Stellar Counterpart of a Dark Cloud in the Virgo Cluster Published in Astrophysical Journal Letters Jones et al. 2024, ApJL, 966, L15 https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/2041-8213/ad3ef5 M.G. Jones, S.Janowiecki, S.Dey, D. J. Sand, P.Bennet, D.Crnojeviฤ‡, C.E. Fielder, A.Karunakaran, B.R. Kent, N. Mazziotti, B.Mutlu-Pakdil, & K. Spekkens We have discovered the stellar counterpart to the ALFALFA Virgo 7 cloud complex, which has been thought to be optically dark and nearly star-free since its discovery in 2007. This โˆผ190 kpc long chain of enormous atomic gas clouds (M(HI) โˆผ 10^9 Msun) is embedded in the hot intracluster medium of the Virgo galaxy cluster but is isolated from any galaxy. Its faint, blue stellar counterpart, BC6, was identified in a visual search of archival optical and UV imaging. Follow-up observations with the #greenbanktelescope, Hobbyโ€“Eberly Telescope, and #hubblespacetelescope demonstrate that this faint counterpart is at the same velocity as the atomic gas, actively forming stars, and metal-rich (12 + (O/H) = 8.58 ยฑ 0.25). We estimate its stellar mass to be only log(Mstar/Msun) ~ 4.4 , making it one of the most gas-rich stellar systems known. Aside from its extraordinary gas content, the properties of BC6 are entirely consistent with those of a recently identified class of young, low-mass, isolated, and star-forming clouds in Virgo that appear to have formed via extreme ram pressure stripping events. We expand the existing discussion of the origin of this structure and suggest NGC 4522 as a likely candidate; however, the current evidence is not fully consistent with any of our proposed progenitor galaxies. We anticipate that other "dark" gas clouds in Virgo may have similarly faint, star-forming counterparts. We aim to identify these through the help of a citizen science search of the entire cluster. @national.radio.astronomy @greenbankobservatory @mcdonald_observatory @nasahubble @aas_office @discoveraui @institute_of_physics #science #astronomy #astrophysics #galaxy #galaxies #galaxycluster #galaxyclusters #universetoday #telescope #observatory #hubble #hubbletelescope #greenbankobservatory

๐Ÿ”ญ๐ŸŒ€ Demystifying Black Bounces: A Simple Guide to Gravity's Surprises ๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿ” In a recent study by Hadi and Naderi, scientists looked at how gravitational waves interact with black bounces, specifically focusing on two types of solutions called the Simpson-Visser and Bardeen-Type black bounce solutions, and the Einstein-Dirac-Maxwell traversable wormhole (TWH) solution. Gravitational waves are ripples in spacetime caused by the movement of massive objects, like stars or black holes. One of the key parts of the study was investigating how gravitational waves affect nearby paths through space, known as geodesics. This study looked at how these paths might deviate or change due to the influence of a gravitational wave. They found that when a gravitational wave pulse is present, it causes noticeable changes in the paths of nearby objects moving through space (geodesics). This effect is seen in all three solutions studied. For example, in the Simpson-Visser solution, as the magnetic charge increases, the differences in the paths of nearby objects decrease for one component and increase for another, showing a memory effect related to displacement. Similarly, in the Bardeen-Type Black Bounce and Traversable Wormhole solutions, changes in the paths of nearby objects also occur with increasing magnetic charge, indicating memory effects related to displacement and velocity. Understanding black bounces and how they interact with gravitational waves could have big implications for our understanding of the universe. For example, detecting the presence of objects like wormholes through the effects of gravitational waves could open up new possibilities for space travel and exploration. Reference:ย H. Hadi, R. Explanation Via APOD: NGC 2685 is a confirmed polar ring galaxy - a rare type of galaxy with stars, gas and dust orbiting in rings perpendicular to the plane of a flat galactic disk. The bizarre configuration could be caused by the chance capture of material from another galaxy by a disk galaxy, with the captured debris strung out in a rotating ring. Still, observed properties of NGC 2685 suggest that the rotating ring structure is remarkably old and stable. In this sharp view of the peculiar system also known as Arp 336 or the Helix galaxy, the strange, perpendicular rings are easy to trace as they pass in front of the galactic disk, along with other disturbed outer structures. NGC 2685 is about 50,000 light-years across and 40 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. M97 (NGC 3587), also known as the Owl Nebula, is a popular target among astrophotography enthusiasts, especially when paired with the nearby galaxy NGC 3556. It lies in the constellation Ursa Major, approximately 2030 light-years away from Earth, with an apparent magnitude of 9.9. It was discovered by the French astronomer Pierre Mรฉchain on February 16, 1781. Mรฉchain, a colleague of Charles Messier, informed Messier of the discovery, and the nebula was subsequently observed by Messier himself a few weeks later. However, it owes its name to another astronomer, William Parsons, who sketched it in 1848 and described it as resembling the head of an owl. Research from the late 1990s indicates the presence of a giant red halo extending around its inner shells, while amateur long-exposure images show a glow around M97 in the OIII band. I'll be exploring this aspect as well as its spectrum in my future mini-project. By the way, despite the relatively short exposure time, many interesting galaxies in the background were captured, which serves as the best advertisement for the sky of the Beskid Niski Mountains (and my mother-in-law's terrace :D). #astronomy #earthsky #astrophotography #astronomylover #astrophoto #sky #skyphotography #nightphotography #milkyway #space #universe #nightphotography #stargazing #universetoday #star #night #nightsky #astrofotografia #nebula #Playerone #owl #messier

Comet, Planet, Moon Three bright objects satisfied seasoned stargazers of the western sky just after sunset earlier this month. The most familiar was the Moon, seen on the upper left in a crescent phase. The rest of the Moon was faintly visible by sunlight first reflected by the Earth. The bright planet Jupiter, the largest planet in the Solar System, is seen to the upper left. Most unusual was Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, below the Moon and showing a stubby dust tail on the right but an impressive ion tail extending upwards. The featured image, a composite of several images taken consecutively at the same location and with the same camera, was taken near the village of Llers, in Spain's Girona province. Comet Pons-Brooks passed its closest to the Sun last week and is now dimming as it moves into southern skies and returns to the outer Solar System. The Large Magellanic Cloud in Ha-RGB From Wikipedia: The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a dwarf irregular galaxy, and satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. At a distance of around 50 kiloparsecs (163,000 light-years), the LMC is the second- or third-closest galaxy to the Milky Way, after the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal (c. 16 kiloparsecs (52,000 light-years) away) and the possible dwarf irregular galaxy called the Canis Major Overdensity. Based on the D25 isophote at the B-band (445 nm wavelength of light), the Large Magellanic Cloud is about 9.86 kiloparsecs (32,200 light-years) across. It is roughly one-hundredth the mass of the Milky Way and is the fourth-largest galaxy in the Local Group, after the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the Milky Way, and the Triangulum Galaxy (M33). Gotta catch your comets like your Pokรฉmon ! Once in a lifetime opportunity , and a tick off the bucket list capturing the Comet Pons- Brooks aka the Devilโ€™s Comet last night cruising along the western horizon at Cape Schanck . Given that the low level cloud cover was slowly but surely increasing I was feeling doubtful on my chances in capturing the comet . Got the tracker and camera setup and working at around 6:45pm and Lo behold my first image shows the little green bugger along with a surprise meteor streak in the sky ! I let my tracker run for another 10 mins or so capturing about 15 tracked images in total at 75mm focal length until clouds covered up the horizon . Decided to use Siril to stack my tracked images and very pleased with its comet stacking and registering functionality; to see that comet tail popping out in the final image was pure joy ; despite cropping the image to its usable limits ๐Ÿ˜‚. With hopefully some clear cloudless nights forecast Iโ€™m hoping to capture this a bit more closer using a 135mm lens and track it for longer to see more details in the comet . ๐Ÿ”ญ @moveshootmove Rotator ๐Ÿ“ธ @sonyalpha.anz Sony A7 IV ๐Ÿ” @tamronaus Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 Di III RXD #astro_photography_au #milkyway_nightscapes #your_astro #comets #milkyway_nightscape_ #skyandtelescopemag #heyihadtosnapthat #nightsky_astropic #abcinmelbourne #rebel_sky #raw_skies #universetoday #bestdarkphoto #signatureshots_hub #devilscomet #nightscapes #tamroncreates #ourfotoworld #acquariumofstars #sky_brilliance #mornington #night_shooterz #vicournature #night_excl #your_skies #nightscaper #visitmorningtonpeninsula #cometponsbrooks #visitmp #abcmyphoto

A Starlink satellite 'swarm', flaring repeatedly low over the horizon, April 2024. These satellites are 1100 miles to the north (over Edmonton, Alberta), and reflect sunlight as they transit the most-northerly latitude of their 53ยฐ-inclination orbital shell (think of it like a meteor shower composite overlaid upon a pano). These flares can be very bright! More technical information here: https://catchingtime.com/starlink-satellite-swarm-from-37n-latitude/ [Canon R5, Sigma 40/1.4 Art]

Black Hole Orbit Black Holes are massive mysterious objects we know almost nothing about. And they're beautiful, even if we can't see them. What we see is plasma and photons, or the gravitational lensing around it. Only thing we know for sure is that they can literally took our life before we would ever start to thinking about it. And that's not that beautiful anymore. The fact we know nothing about them, makes them more fascinating. But the real question isn't what they are. But what they're for. My idea is that one time whole universe will colapse into one huge infinite black hole. Since we know they can merge. And once it starts eat itself, it collapse into new Big Bang. What's your personal idea? Handmade work! NO AI!
