What a way to ring in 40! 2024 Florida State Championship - Master’s Friday was a lot of fun. It’s such a blessing to be able to put together a total still, and to do it with so many familiar faces out there. It was also special to share in the win with @fsuweightliftingclub - it meant so much to have help from Brian, Becker and Tyra, thanks again y’all for the support and FSU shirts, it was the highlight of my day 🙌 One of these days, I’ll PR in a meet - clearly not yesterday, though 🤣 weighed in very full and hydrated at 87kg, my heaviest yet. No calf cramps 👌 just need to get comfortable competing again. I probably need to get out of the garage, and lift socially a bit more - being at a big meet like this is like taking the blinders off of a horse, a bit overwhelming to take it all in. Snatch; 90kg, 96kgX, 98kg - too much sauce on the 96kg and sent it behind. Clean&Jerk; 110kg, 117kg, 122kgX - cleans were great and light, jerks felt good but 122kg was trash; deep dip and bad lockout. Back to programming on Monday! Lifts have been feeling great, although, I'm definitely starting to feel my age. Menopause bursitis is real and some mornings, it takes about 10 min before I can stand up straight, BUT I truly believe it would be even worse if I wasn't lifting and moving my body. Karlos Nasar... einfach ein Unikat!! Hält trotz seiner noch 19 Jahre (wird im Mai 20) mehrere Weltrekorde und hat schon fast alles gewonnen, was es zu gewinnen gibt! Olympia kommt ja bald 😉! Im Stoßen ließ er im dritten Versuch 226kg auflegen, was quasi inoffiziellen Weltrekord bedeutete... allerdings in der -89kg Gewichtsklasse und er wog gestern 90,80kg 🤪. Einfach beeindruckend, was und vor allem wie der junge Mann abliefert. Was ihm noch einen großen Pluspunkt einbrachte, dass er sich nach dem Wettkampf Zeit nahm - insbesondere für die Kleinsten! Hut ab! Ich hoffe, dass er noch lange Zeit auf der Wettkampfbühne zu sehen sein wird 😃✊🏼. SPRING LIFTOFF MEET RECAP! Yesterday was INCREDIBLE! I had an awesome time competing @repmaxperformance Spring Liftoff to kick off my 2024 competition season, and it was so hype—what an amazing environment to lift in with every spectator, volunteer, ref, etc cheering you on. I definitely want to compete there again! My meet goal was survive (as always!), qualify for USAW AO2 (102kg total needed), and aim for 6/6. I set no weight PRs but all of my lifts were comp PRs, and I added 16kg to my total, and I qualified for AO2. Hit 5 of my 6 lifts and felt so good in my mind and body. Just 2 weeks ago I was cleared to jerk after aggravating my right rotator cuff and labrum, and it’s been a mighty mental struggle since then. Training last week was skeeeeeetchy but I pulled it together! SNATCHES • 47kg (+7kg comp PR) ⚪️⚪️⚪️ • 50kg (+10kg comp PR) ⚪️⚪️⚪️ • 52kg (+12kg comp PR) ⚪️⚪️⚪️ CLEAN & JERK • 55kg (+5kg comp PR) ⚪️⚪️⚪️ • 58kg (+8kg comp PR) ⚪️⚪️⚪️ • 61kg (would have been an 11kg comp PR) 🔴🔴🔴 TOTAL: 110kg (+16kg from HCAM ‘23!) Wes, we’re coming up on a year of me joining the team and you’ve taken me from a baby weightlifter to serious contender on the platform. Your patience with me only rivals Dr. Jason, and you are an incredible coach who handles me with kid gloves when needed but also gives me a swift kick of tough love if necessary.
