With a flurry of events and a trip to the sun just around the corner, we planted a few dahlias today. Well aware that this could be folly, it’s a risk which has to be taken otherwise they might not be planted at all. Merry Chrysler 🎄 Have to post this one for Christmas because it seems to be a favourite. Finally finished work for the holiday today and it feels amazing. Don’t have to be worrying about setting alarms and being an adult. Just have to enjoy the time off, eat plenty of nice food and watch my family open their presents. It hasn’t felt the most amazing this December, we’ve had a lot of stormy weather recently and it’s taken it’s toll on the garden as well as the chicken coop area. As we live on a rural smallholding, the wind is fierce sometimes and can feel like whiplash, so I’m having to re-think our chicken area and run for future. We’ve also got a new outdoor building coming in the new year, which will be sort of a log cabin come summerhouse come animal gathering place. Hopefully it will sort that area out a bit better. I think next year I’ll probably add more chickens to the brood, they’re not really any bother it’s just about getting everything in place and the fresh eggs taste incredible. I love making plans and getting stuck in so I’m looking forward to getting the garden sorted next year even better than this year. We have a break in the new year, which we’re really looking forward to. Easing us into 2024! Are you looking forward to 2024? This little park has become so dear to me. It was where I did so many of my earliest family sessions and, in fact my very first paid session was at this park! I learned so much about lighting, posing, prompting, sharing space with other photographers(!), and capturing family connection here. The icing on the cake is the small window of time during Fall when the park transforms into a colorful, magical, Autumn paradise! I feel like I’m in a movie with the leaves swirling around us in all the best Fall colors. The sessions I do here in the Fall are always extra special for me. 🍁🍂🍁🍂 This family brought all the joy, love and playfulness that gives a family session that magical touch. We woke up to a heavy fall off snow this morning, and the flakes are still drifting gently down from soft pink clouds. The car will need a little extra defrosting time in order to head over to the workshop today in order to warm the space for our guests. I’d recommend a thermal vest and an extra pair of socks. Yet my pores still ooze the essence of the golden season which I haven't enjoyed fully this year and I'm trying this last minute run of what is indeniably almost gone. As if you join a race on the wrong day. My spirit is there, though. I close my eyes and I feel like those little spare moments, infused with bright orange, red and yellow-brown earth hues, are still alive. Might be this picture the essence of it to keep until next autumn.
