| Thor’s Well | Eine der beeindruckendsten Sehenswürdigkeiten an der Pazifikküste Oregons ist für mich Thor’s Well. Es ist schon etwas verrückt dort an der schroffen Küste mit Stativ und Kamera zu stehen, und immer wieder von den brechenden Wellen inkl. Equipment durchnässt zu werden :-D. Aber nur so wird man mit einem Foto wie diesem belohnt :-). For me, one of the most impressive spots along the Pacific coast of Oregon is Thor’s Well. It’s a bit crazy to stand there on the rugged coast with a tripod and camera and get soaked again and again by the crashing waves, including your equipment :-D. But it’s the only way to get a picture like this :-). | Turret Arch at Sunrise | Bei unserem Besuch im Dezember im Arches Nationalpark war es zwar recht kalt, dafür war zum Sonnenaufgang in der Windows Section sehr wenig los. Man hat sicher nicht oft im Jahr die Gelegenheit solch eine Aufnahme vom Turret Arch ohne andere Menschen im Bild aufzunehmen. During our visit to Arches National Park in December it was quite cold, but on the other hand there were very few people in the Windows Section at sunrise. | There is water in Badwater Basin | Normalerweise ist das Death Valley nicht dafür bekannt, dass es dort viel Wasser gibt, das gilt auch für Badwater Basin. Aufgrund des Tropensturms Hilary kam es aber zum seltenen Fall, dass Badwater Basin Ende 2023 mit viel Wasser gefüllt war. Wir hatten das Glück zu dieser Zeit dort zu sein und ich konnte diese schöne Aufnahme der spiegelnden Wasseroberfläche zum Sonnenuntergang aufnehmen. Death Valley is not usually known for having a lot of water, and Badwater Basin is no exception. However, due to Tropical Storm Hilary, Badwater Basin was filled with a lot of water at the end of 2023. We were lucky enough to be there at the time and I was able to capture this beautiful photo of the reflecting water surface at sunset. | Fiery Furnace at Sunset | Der Fiery Furnace ist scheinbar eine der Locations im Arches Nationalpark, die nicht ganz so häufig fotografiert wird, wie die üblichen anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Wir waren dort zum Sonnenuntergang und der Anblick mit den schneebedeckten La Sal Mountains in der Ferne hat mir super gefallen. | Milky Way over Haystack Rock | Der beeindruckende riesige Haystack Rock an der Küste Oregons während unserem Trip entlang der California State Route 1 hat mich beeindruckt. Wir verweilten dort den ganzen Nachmittag bis weit in die Nacht. Das Warten bis in die Nacht hatte sich gelohnt, so konnte ich die Milchstraße über dem Haystack Rock aufnehmen. During our drive along California State Route 1, I was impressed by the huge, impressive Haystack Rock at the Oregon Coast. We stayed there all afternoon and well into the night. | Eggshell Arch at Sunset | Nein es ist nicht der Mesa Arch ;-), auch wenn er ein wenig daran erinnert. Es handelt sich um den Eggshell Arch, welcher sehr entlegen und nur schwer erreichbar im Navajo Reservat versteckt liegt. Einmal dort angekommen wird man von einer wirklich atemberaubenden Kulisse empfangen. Nur in den Wintermonaten leuchtet die Unterseite des Eggshell Arch zum Sonnenuntergang in einem feurigen Orange-Rot. Mir gefällt dieser Arch fast sogar noch etwas besser als der populäre Mesa Arch, was meint ihr? No, it’s not Mesa Arch ;-), although it reminds me of it. It’s Eggshell Arch, hidden in the Navajo reservation and difficult to reach. Once you are there, your reward is a truly breathtaking landscape. Only in winter the underside of Eggshell Arch glows in a fiery orange-red at sunset. I almost like this arch better than the popular Mesa Arch, what do you think? | Cathedral Valley | Die Fahrt durch das Cathedral Valley (Capitol Reef National Park) war eines der vielen Highlights unseres Dezember-Roadtrips durch den Südwesten der USA. Wir verbrachten dort einen ganzen Tag und begegneten nur einem einzigen anderen Fahrzeug, Einsamkeit pur. Nach Sonnenuntergang kam mir die Idee dieser Aufnahme, bei der ich den imposanten Temple of the Sun mit Lichtspuren unseres vorbeifahrenden Jeeps in Szene setzte. The trip through Cathedral Valley (Capitol Reef National Park) was one of the many highlights of our December road trip through the southwestern USA. We spent a whole day there and only passed one other vehicle, pure remoteness. After sunset, I had the idea to take this photo of the impressive Temple of the Sun with light-trails from our passing jeep. Per continuare la serie.. nel New England gli alberi di Natale sono diversi, oltre a quello con le trappole per le aragoste troviamo anche quelli fatti con le boe! Questo l’ho trovato l’anno scorso al porto di Wells, in Maine, quando ho trascorso il Natale li. Purtroppo c’era stata una tempesta fortissima la sera prima che aveva fatto partire le luci, ma credo che la seconda foto sia bellissima comunque, anche senza luci. | Myrtle Falls | Die Myrtle Falls gehören für mich zu den schönsten Wasserfällen im Mount Rainier National Park, besonders aufgrund der Kulisse mit dem Mount Rainier im Hintergrund. Als ich vor diesem Motiv stand, war klar, dass ich nochmal zum Sonnenaufgang wiederkommen musste. Dies klappte dann auch am Morgen dieses Fotos, wo der Berg mal nicht wolkenverhangen war. For me, Myrtle Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Mount Rainier National Park, especially with Mount Rainier visible in the background. Standing there, I was sure that I had to come back for sunrise. This worked out well on the morning when I took this photo, as the mountain was not covered in clouds.
