Investing in the tunnel was definitely a great decision; the tomatoes thrive inside! Even the volunteer San Marzano plant shows less blossom end rot. It's been a cooler summer and I'm still waiting on some tomatoes to produce anything. Two examples are the cherry tomatoes "Blue Berries", which for me have always fruited for a really long time but the delay in ripening is unusual for their size. I love the black shoulders they develop and they're very popular in my household. The other tomato is a new variety for me to grow - Rouge de Marmande. I'm loving how beautiful it's looking. Hopefully the rats don't find them before I get a taste! It is time for Tomatoes! 🤩🍅 All of our plants are from organic or heirloom seeds. We use organic fertilizer and soil. Aside from our sterile seed soil. They are infused with reiki during their whole time with us! 🌱✨ The first picture is 1/2 gal sized. They are eight or 2 for fifteen. They will be available for pickup end of May. They will be hardened off. I planted mine the 2nd week of June (zone 5b). Before planting, I would leave them in the dining room at night and take them out on the deck during the day. Until it was warm enough at night. 🌞 The 2nd picture is our 4in pots. They are five or 2 for nine. They will be ready beginning of May. They will not be hardened off. You will be responsible for up potting and hardening, until they can go outside. 🍃 All sa les are final. I can not be responsible for plants you killed. This year most of my tomato seedlings didn’t turn out as expected so I had to buy a few. Thankfully I’ve found some interesting varieties locally: Kellogg’s Breakfast, Blue Berries and Black Russian. On top of these, I bought two Hungarian heirlooms as well: Cegléd, Fadd. 🙈 Hopefully lots of seeds to save for the next year! 🤞 (Still hoping for my own tiny Paul Robesons to come to life though. 🥲) This hairy little guy is Blue Berries btw.

New Girl Tomato 🍅 I'm so, so, SOOO excited for these babies. 2 years ago I grew early girl tomatoes and had a beautiful bounty. They are so highly recommended for our area and of corse I was a big dumb and didn't start any last year. Sixth week of documenting. I finally have a fruit ripening! A single Sweet Pea Currant is blushing. Honestly starting to feel sad for the right side Backyard toms—so freaking stunted! 😢 Probably not getting enough sun? But it was fine last year with my Dad's vegetables. No idea what changed. It rained for a few days and I only watered once before today since Tuesday? Wednesday? Honestly, not having to water was such a blessing. But since the fruits on my slicer tomatoes are growing, I think I might have to keep watering generously for a couple weeks until they're fully set. My single plant of #sungoldtomatoes is probably my tallest plant now and has at least 10 fruits setting on it. My guillotined #blueberriestomato is so small. Many flowers but it has a single fruit currently in production. I've been seeing a lot more bugs—green bugs, brown bugs, white tiny bugs on my plants. A little worried. I don't know if my expectations are too high but I feel like my Barry's Crazy Cherry and Blue Berries on the front yard are so slow to grow? They definitely are bushier plants than my Sun Gold, Napa Rose Blush and Gardener's Sweetheart but those Week 8 Plants are taller than my Week 10 Cherries. It might be too hot? I'm not sure. I think the toothbrush method is starting to lose effectiveness now? or maybe it's just because it rained all week. I currently have fruit sets on all my 12 2022 plants so if all goes well, I will have ripe fruits. I just hope that the first instance of BER is the last one and I hope I don't have pest damage on the fruits. Oh and please just ignore the weeds. I have no energy to clean it up. Fifth weekly documentation of my #tomatogarden They're doing alright for the most part. I do have to water them every morning. I skipped Saturday because the weather forecast said 99% chance of rain at 5-6 pm and it never rained yesterday. Which was a bad call. I did water when my stubborn self finally accepted it wasn't going to rain but I had to pinch off the foliage that didn't come back to life this morning (which was like 99% of all the wilt-y stuff 😢) I have some fruit sets! And insect damage on some of them 😅 but I'm hoping it won't get too bad? It looked like any damage insects did does scab over. I just hope it wasn't anything that lays their eggs inside the holes. Rosso Sicilian front yard toms are starting to curl their leaves up so I think it's getting too hot for them. The back yard ones are just doing terribly. The #blackbeautytomatoes looks to be doing well. My grape type tomatoes are so spindly! I don't know why. Is it normal for their variety?? My #sungoldtomatoes, that1 plant has gotten as tall as the Jan 4 sowing. and I have 4 fruits forming at least so very excited. My #barryscrazycherrytomatoes are setting a lot of flowers but it's such a small plant for now, I'm not sure it's wise to have it all form fruit? The #blueberriestomato are also doing real well. My Backyard Tomato plants are generally worse than my Front Yard ones. Ah, since it's been getting reaaaal hot as well, the buds start to brown and burn sometimes before they even get to bloom. But this seems to only be in the cherry toms and the brad's atomic grape ones. Pics 9-10: I think this Classic #beefsteaktomato is stunted by the excessive heat (it gets the most hours of direct sun in its position)...might be wiser to pull it out but I'm just letting it be. Hoping it might still grow later on. The Classic Beefsteak next to it looks so good, such a shame that a one hour difference of direct sun could bring such a disparity. ___________________ Really hoping the toothbrush method works even with our heat and high humidity 🙏🙏🙏
