Lord . . . Poem based on 1 Corinthians 3:5-11; 5 After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. a haiku poem about trusting in God when faced with worries 🌾 “This is a light thing in the sight of the LORD.” - 2 Kings 3:18a When I got to this verse while reading through 2 Kings recently, my first thought was “Wow, that sounds offensive!”. The nation of Israel faced a legitimate threat of attack, and yet Elisha prophetically declared that it is a light thing in the Lord’s sight to provide for their needs and render them victorious against their enemies. Such a bold exhortation to fully trust and depend on the Lord is extended to all of us believers today. Our burdens seem impossibly heavy when we are looking at them merely through the lens of our own earthly sight. Yet in sight of the sovereign power of our Lord, something strange happens: Our heavy burdens become light! Consider the famous words of Christ: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:29-30 Our God is omnipotent; nothing is too hard for him. As the Lord spoke to Abraham and Jeremiah, so he speaks to us: “Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” - Genesis 18:14 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” - Jeremiah 32:26-27 Almighty God is intervening on our behalf, working out all things for our good and his glory. I remember having vivid dreams when I was younger about leading women but truth be told I wasn’t fond of too much estrogen and wasn’t in tune with my God-given emotions to find joy in leading women. 😅😂 I felt we were too much and I was enougghhh to handle…yet God chose me to lead a group of women who were not perfect but desired intimacy with God. @unitedladiesco In my imperfection, I chose to answer the call to something that I had no idea I was saying YES too. This YES has changed my entire life I thought I was supposed to be a Physical Therapist and now I work for the Holy Spirit. I rely on Him alone for provision, my joy, my peace and I don’t feel just called but Chosen to lead people into an in-depth way of seeing God. And maybe that is you…feeling on the fence about give God your all but I want to encourage you to not allow FEAR TO CRIPPLE YOUR FAITH. You are CHOSEN. You are NOT ALONE YOU are worthy of community! It’s time I re-introduce myself here — mostly because it’s snowing in my last introduction photo, which is an absurdly inaccurate representation of my day-to-day life in Bangkok where the heat index is currently 43° C (110° F) — but also because a lot of you are new followers and this is my 100th post! 😄 🙋🏽♂️ I’m Thai American, born and raised in Southern California and now living and doing ministry in Bangkok, Thailand. Birdsong has been out for three days and I’m still pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming! A huge thank you goes out to you for helping celebrate the launch of my debut poetry collection! I was on the verge of happy tears all day Saturday by the overwhelming support and encouragement I received. God has been so good, and has been continuing to blow me away. No hate to my Swifties out there! I think about “the tortured artist” a lot. Do we really have to be miserable to create great art? How much of this torture to we actually turn on ourselves? Why have we maintained this idea for so long? As an artist, I know art can come from great pain, and yet we don’t need great pain to create great art. And as a Christian artist, we have a promise outside the pain. Even when we feel tortured, there is healing and breakthrough coming. When all is bleak, we look up to the One who is brighter than the sun. We can use our trial to create, but we are not defined by it. a haiku poem about listening to God’s voice 🌾 God invites us to commune with him in prayer as we are in pursuit of following his will for our lives. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 When we pray to God, he hears and responds in accordance with his will, which is rooted in all we can learn through the study of his Word, of Scripture. Delighting in doing his will is directly connected to cherishing the teachings of his Word. “I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” - Psalm 40:8 “Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.” - Job 22:22 In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Paul teaches that Scripture has been breathed out by God and is sufficient to equip us for all we need to know to live godly, righteous lives. We can look to God’s Word and commune with him in prayer to follow the lead of his voice. His voice sounds like his Word; let us dwell in it richly. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” - Colossians 3:16 Lord, Thank you for the gift of your Word. With my birthday approaching in just a few days, I’ve been reflecting a lot about the past 10 years. I was 13 the first time “my mind went numb” and I spiralled into what I now consider to be my first really intense mental health crisis. It’s been an uphill battle ever since and still continues to be. But after some deep reflection, I’m starting to realize that without those struggles that I experienced in my teenage years, I probably wouldn’t have found poetry as a form of expression, and my faith may not have matured into the faith that I have today. I can faintly see the dots that God has been connecting all this time to form me into the person I am today.
