Rating: 5/10 Weird movie but had some quality A24 elements to it. Some unique physique shots of muscles pulsing and sound effects for it were pretty unique. The first half of the film was the setup but they could’ve done a lot more as it was a bit empty at times. The two mains were decent especially for Katy O’Brian who is sort of a newcomer so she did pretty well for her first big feature. Was expecting better or more from Ed Harris but he was decent in it too. There was some really exciting and shocking thrilling scenes which led to some really cool violence too. It was a decent thriller with a mixed bag but they ruined it with the ending by making it visually strange when the rest of the film was pretty normal compared. LOVE LIES BLEEDING (2024) | “I Fucking Love You, You Idiot.” Reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family. I recently watched this film for the first time, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. It was truly phenomenal. Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian were amazing as Lou and Jackie, and I cared deeply about their romantic relationship and the moments they shared. But when the violence started and the tension kept rising, I was really feeling breathless and excited, but at the same time scared of what would happen next. There were multiple moments when I was shocked and nervous, and I loved feeling that way while watching the film. In addition, I adored that it was set in 1989, and I particularly loved the outfits. Lou’s attire throughout the entire film was so good that I’m considering buying some of those same outfits for myself. Not to mention, the original score was also amazing. The “Love Lies Bleeding” track was one of my favorites, but overall the entire score felt very haunting and dreadful, which I ultimately loved very much. All in all, I absolutely love this film, and I’m excited to rewatch it multiple times in the near future. Love Lies Bleeding (2024) - Firstly a big thank you to @curzoncanterburywestgate for a fantastic first experience in your excellent cinema. Absolutely the right kind of film to see and I can’t recommend this cinema enough. Please go check it out, it’s great. I’d been waiting on this one a while after first hearing about it last year and the trailers sold me 100% so my anticipation was way up. Did it deliver? Yes. Yes it did. This film is a whole tone unto itself and I loved it. Whilst I get that a few of the more “out there” elements have put a lot of people off, personally, it’s just what I was after. The stranger, sweatier and bloodier the better! The two leads Kristen Stewart and Katy O’brian are both just brilliant. I fully bought into their characters and the situations they’ve found themselves in that ultimately bring them together. Even to this day a lot of people give Stewart a hard time but this only goes to prove that when she pulls it out she really can deliver. The real star of this show however is Katy O’brian’s ‘Jackie’. Her character and sheer physical transformation a massive standout. The physicality she brings to this role is something to behold, a huge amount of dedication has gone into this and it’s pretty awe inspiring stuff. Just one hell of a specimen, capturing feminity in an incredible muscular frame that balances itself just right. She will make you feel lazy. It’s really something. I rooted for the leads throughout despite some very questionable choices the characters make, setting them apart from your average protagonists. Allegiances chop and change as the plot develops but by the end I wanted the best for the pair of them. No spoilers here, however. It won’t be for everyone but it really worked for me and I was glad for the opportunity to see it on the big screen. It would be a disservice to do otherwise and it’s a real shame that it hasn’t gotten a wider release here in the UK but what are ya gonna do. I’m extremely glad that I went out of my way to see it. Very highly recommend both the film and @curzoncanterburywestgate cinema. Go check it out before you miss the opportunity and support independent cinema.

Un thriller LGBT+ super atrapante, muy hot cuando se lo propone, con buena dosis de violencia y que se da el lujo de jugar con el aspecto fantasioso que, si la ves con mente abierta, te va a parecer maravilloso. La película nos presente a Jackie, una fisicoculturista en busca de ganar una competencia en Las Vegas y que en el camino conoce a Lou, la solitaria gerente de un gimnasio local cuyo padre es el líder del sindicato del crimen del pueblo. Jackie y Lou conectan de inmediato, pero su relación provoca violencia y ambas se ven inmersas en las conspiraciones de la familia de Lou. Por algunos detalles controversiales, diría que no es una película para todos, pero sí creo que podría entretener bastante a cualquiera; a mí en lo personal me gustó mucho, yo te la recomiendo si te gustan propuestas arriesgadas o si eres un apasionado fan de los thrillers. La película nos muestra la historia de amor que se construye entre el personaje de Kristen Stewart, que trabaja en un gimnasio, y el personaje de Katy O'Brian, quien aspira a ganar un concurso de fisico culturismo. Esta última es todo un descubrimiento, un trabajo físico excepcional y una actuación igualmemte formidable. Con el pasar de la cinta, vamos descubriendo el lado oscuro tanto de la localidad donde viven, del mundo del culturismo y también de los propios personajes, ya que una de las cosas más interesantes que tiene la película es justamente estl, porque son personajes con los que nos debería costar empatizar, debido a que la mayor parte de las acciones que cometen son negativas, en muchos casos terribles, pero logramos formsr un vínculo con ellas y su relación. Otro aspecto interesante es la ambientación, jamás se nos deja ver explícitamente que año es, pero podemos intuir que son mediados de los 80's en estados unidos (más o menos, me puedo equivocar) y que toda la estética solo acompaña visualmente al relato, dejando imagines hermosas, sobre todo al final de la película. I love a shitty tagline!! Women fall in love, all hell breaks loose. A true romance if ever I saw one!! Honestly this was such good fun. Every second just flew by, I certainly got my pump on. The look of the film is brilliant, so stylish...maybe too stylish at times but this era of America just looks great on the big screen. Visually there were some superb choices by the cinematographer. Cast is absolutely killer. Ed Harris, Jena Malone and Dave Franco in supporting roles are fantastic but they really set the stage for Katy O'Brian and Kristen Stewart, on screen chemistry oozing out of them and top class performances from both. How good is Kristen Stewart?! It seems so long since I've watched a murderous romance that it very fresh, lust and violence just go hand in hand. The drug storyline was a little lost on me and led some scenes that felt a bit out of place and almost silly. Un romance alimentado por el ego, el deseo y el sueño americano. Lou, manager del gimnasio, se enamora de Jackie, una culturista que está de paso por la ciudad camino a una competición en Las Vegas. No me gustó. Me aburrí en su mayor parte, no vi nada nuevo y su último acto fue el que menos me gustó. Y lo poco que me había gustado fue arruinado por su última escena, que me pareció ridícula. Si les voy a decir que la ambientación de la época, el vestuario, la música acorde a la época en que se estaba contando la historia, estuvo bien, pero nada de la historia me atrapó y menos que menos me generó interés. A24 viene trayendo películas de una gran cinematografía, y este también es el caso. Los colores elegidos, la edición de sonido (otro gran punto a favor), y los closeups en ciertas escenas también estuvieron bien. Lo que no me gustó fue la historia, trillada, cayendo en lugares comunes, situaciones repetitivas, queriendo ser un drama, con tintes de thriller, o vaya a saber uno que. En fin, nada más que sumar, muchas cosas positivas, pero muchas más cosas negativas donde la más importante de todas, no estuvo bien. En años que no se sabía que tanto provocaban estas sustancias, Lou le ofrece esteroides a Jackie para ayudarla a ganar una competencia, pero la cosa se pone loca cuando el esposo de la hermana de Lou la golpea y la manda al hospital, desde ahí toda una espiral de secretos convulsiona la vida de ambas chicas. #KatyOBrian, #JenaMalone, #EdHarris, #AnnaBaryshnikov y #DaveFranco complementan el elenco. Love Lies Bleeding 🔥 🎬Rose Glass,2024 📝 Después de romperla con Saint Maud vuelve Rose Glass con una historia de amor y venganza con Kristen Stewart y Katy O'Brian dónde seguimos a una fisicoculturista que llega a un pueblo de mala muerte donde conoce y se enamora del personaje de Kristen Stewart y ahí empieza un círculo de violencia sin fin. Algo que hace está directora es incomodarte con las imágenes que plantea son de violencia extrema y en esta vemos como el apellido pesa y el personaje de Kristen Stewart tiene ese peso en su espalda interpretado por el gran Ed Harris que cada momento que está en escena da miedo es padre, pero también un asesino que toma decisiones por lo que él considera el bien por su familia qué se cae a pedazos. Y a partir de ahí todo va escalando en situaciones muy violentas y sangrientas que se vuelve en un juego donde Kristen Stewart va a hacer lo que sea para proteger a Katy O' Brian como sea, aunque tenga que ir por su propia familia. Para ir terminando creo que Love Lies Bleeding es una gran película sobre el amor y la venganza que muestra como un apellido pesa en este contexto que se convierte en un viaje dónde vemos cómo dos chicas están dispuestas a hacer lo que sea por el amor que se tienen y la química de ellas dos es un fuego y se muestran de una manera muy erótica con tintes de surrealismo en general. Love Lies Bleeding. Bodybuilder Jackie who is travelling to a bodybuilding competition meets Lou at a local gym and they soon hit it off and start a steamy relationship. Things soon take a dark turn and trouble ensues. Katy O’Brian and Kristen Stewart who play Jackie and Lou respectively are brilliant together in this film and their chemistry is a big part of what makes this film good. There is also an excellent supporting cast including Ed Harris playing the ‘bad guy’ and Dave Franco. This seems to have gone slightly under the radar being released right in the middle of a few blockbusters but it’s definitely worth watching.
