14 weeks until @beacons_way_ultra. Through all of the self doubt, overthinking and anxiety about the race, there's a very small amount excitement coming through now. Training going better than I could have imagined at this point, but the enormity of the challenge is still very much real. Still, 77.5 miles this week is more than I've ever done and feel great for it (just another marathon on top of this and that's the race distance 🙄). Trusting the process. The plan set by @harryjallen1989 is second to none. Back into tempo work this week and looking forward to @limitlesstrails on 18th May. Ideal point of the training to get a long run in over The Beacons. Huge achievement this week where we hit over the £2,500 target raised for @the.mitchell.foundation. I could never have imagined it be anywhere near that amount. Wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to run outside. I’m so very sore from my strength session yesterday but motion is lotion so I struggled through a very slow 8 miles. Temps are running hot today, it’s super windy, and my heart rate was entirely too high. But just being outside in the sun and moving was worth the struggle. This long weekend was spent out on the trails of the @sulphurspringstrailrace with @shayner1234 so we can test out nutrition and strategy. . And I'm glad we did. I didn't go race pace as I just wanted time on feet and to enjoy the course. We also navigated the course using the GPX map on my watch. I've never used this feature on my @coros_canada Apex Pro 2 before, but it's pretty awesome! . This is a beautiful course, and I can't wait to tackle the race. . After mile 18 I had poor salt intake and my body started cramping like crazy!!! It felt like someone was taking knifes and jabbing my quads later my calves and everything else. I didn’t take no for an answer and kept going. I cramp walked from 18 - 23 and found a solid pace after that till the finish. 4 and a half years ago, I attempted my first 100 miler at the @3beaversracing Midnight Moose. . After 50km, I had to call it due to pain in my hip/leg. It was an easy decision to stop, preventing any real injury, but it still haunts me. . This year, I'm out for redemption. I've signed up the @sulphurspringstrailrace 100 miler! . This year, I'm working with a coach, my good friend @leo_vitelli. Leo has completed a few 100 milers including the one I'm signed up for, so I know I'm in good hands. . In order to get the most out of my training, I have to be disciplined; morning cardio (3am), and evening strength, making sure to take my rest days, and listen to my body. . I've been doing meal prep for many years now, and I know the basics as to what I need. Debating hiring someone for Nutrition Coaching to get me really dialed in, and maybe lose a few pounds. . Miami Marathon 26.2 in the books all I can say is thank you for the experience. There really is nothing that compares and now… only now do I understand. I’ve never said “oh no I have to run” “i don’t want to do the work”. Were all my runs until now perfect? Naaah. But as I’ve found out in my running journey a bad day running is still a luxury. And I miss this luxury so much. It was clear before the injury, running is after two years a huge part of me, of who I am, of the way I see things, I think about the world, the purpose and the impact I want to have in this life, the way I want to be in other people’s lives. The injury just made clear to me that goals are to be chased. They don’t just come to you. This is my sign to refocus and get in to it all the way. Half the work half the outcome.
