Panorama. Swipe! On Great End marking a great end to my 214 Wainwrights. The panorama from Scafell Pike and Lingmell (my final two summits), Great Gable, Styhead Tarn and then Derwentwater off in the distance. On the horizon the Isle of Man and Scotland are both visible. Such a clear day. And then in true Cumbrian style shortly after this picture was taken, it started snowing. I arrived in Cumbria a couple of years ago thinking how nice it would be to be familiar enough to recognise and name the Lake District fells and lakes. And now I can! Conquering Scafell Pike (Almost!) Wow, what an adventure! 🏔️ Despite my best efforts, I didn't quite make it to the summit of England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. My knees might have prevented me from reaching the summit but I was still able to enjoy the breathtaking views, even with the sleet and low clouds. The final climb towards the summit was a true test of endurance, with loose scree and boulders making every step a challenge. Despite not getting to the summit, the sense of accomplishment I felt was unbeatable. 😍 Grateful to have experienced the dramatic mountain scenery of the @lakedistrictnpa up close with close friends. This year, as I turn 40, after years hiking hills I wanted to tackle the big 3 that I had not ever attempted. 1st Jan was Snowdon time up and down sub 4 hrs. I'm over the moon with my photos from our hike so I want to share a part 2! ⛰️🥾🌲 🌊 I also wanted to talk about 5 of my favourite things to bring on a hike: 1. FOOD🥯 It's number one for a reason, there's nothing better than snacks on the trail and something to eat at the summit! You can pack whatever you fancy! I love snacks such as pretzels, boost bars, fruit, banana bread, dark chocolate and hard candy! I also love to bring something like a bagel / sandwich for the summit! 2. The AllTrails App 🧭 One of my favourite hiking apps on my phone, I rely on it so much when going on a hike, I love the fact that you can have offline navigation because sometimes it's not always possible to get signal in the mountains! 3. Waterproof pants/ jacket🧥 I can't live without these two things, especially for the fact I live in England! I ALWAYS pack them in case, because you never know what weather you might get😅 Both of my waterproofs are from @regattaoutdoors and they're incredibly lightweight so they're easy to carry if I don't end up using them! 4. Camera📷 Hiking is fun, but I may love taking photos of the mountains even more🤭 5. Swim costume/ towel👙 I love bringing these in case I ever find a spot to swim in. Even though my plan might be to just go for a hike, it's fun to take knowing I could potentially find a place to have a dip! Way too many times have I come across some truly amazing wild swimming spots so now it's a non negotiable! What are your favourite things to take on a hike!? 📍Scafell Pike 🏔️ We climbed Scafell Pike amongst others and we hiked overall for 11 hours. To say this were testing is an understatement 🤣 however incredibly rewarding and the views were just utterly stunning 😍 We climbed with 4 other amazing ladies we met last year while hiking snowdon. We pushed each other through parts we all individually found difficult, we laughed and we nearly cried at times but overall, it we’re such an amazing day ❤️ Scafell is a mountain that’s now been ticked off the list and I’m not sure if were in a hurry to do it again any time soon 🤣 don’t let that put you off though, it’s just our knees wouldn’t be able to take it 🤷♀️ Next up…Ben Nevis 🏔️ although I think a rest is in order first.
