Few months ago or should I say 8 months ago I made one of the hardest decisions of my life, for me it was hard, for others it was quite easy and prior to that I got a word from God that I was going to leave my comfort zone and I casually wrote it down. Then NYSC came along and I saw Kano state, that day i was the most confused and frustrated human being and even when my friends and family wasn’t in support of my moving to Kano. I decided to take that path because it was a clear instruction I got from God. Imagine moving to a place where you literally don’t know any single person, it was hard and frustrating for me during the first three months, sorting out PPA, getting an accommodation, starting business afresh again. I cried, I wailed, I wept because it was hard, but the most beautiful part is that I saw the hands of God with me despite everything that happened. I lost my belongings but God restored it. I almost got beaten by Kano keke drivers 😂😂 I slightly escaped molestation from one of the PPA they posted me to. I cried daily due to the language barrier I told God I was done and all I just want to do was to go back home to rest,atleast let me go back to Abuja, life will not be this hard and frustrating for me. But He said something that caught my attention, When you are done wailing and whining, you will find the exact reason I brought you to Kano. And in that moment I knew I had to be calm and just listen and find my path carefully,and in the whole process of finding my path is that my vision got clearer and I got clear clarity in what to do. Reason for sharing this is to tell someone that life might not always go as planned for you but God will always be by your side. Admittedly for the greater part of my life I was immensely guilty of feeling and being silenced. Stemming from a first hand experience on neglect, abandonment, poverty, lack of family, isolation, social scorn and judgement as well as a whole lot more, I have risen above these elements and as such, I vowed to myself to “protect” myself. By this life, is why I was constantly guilty of being affected by the opinions of others. It eventually became my coping strategy to assume my position of power, while switching back and forth by way of an alter ego whenever I felt attacked. By engaging in both identities, I was able to safely become vulnerable without “actual” vulnerability. This method of approach only got me so far before I came to the realization that my so called means of protection, was merely a phantom approach. I now embrace fully my weaknesses, hurt, mistakes, misfortunes and flaws and by doing so I have disarmed the opinions of others in having the power to destroy or reduce me. It first starts with admittance of your truth followed by its acceptance by oneself, to bring you to a place where there are no more existing ammunitions worthy enough of shifting your pedestal. I am the epitome of SELF MADE and a now global entrepreneur, coming from the slums of mere existence. We have been experiencing a vast culture whereby a lot of persons are misusing and misrepresenting the significance of the title “Entrepreneur”. The explanatory universal definition of Entrepreneurship is, the creation or extraction of economic value in ways that generally entail beyond the minimal amount of risk (assumed by a traditional business), and potentially involving values besides simply economic ones. The term “entrepreneur” is often conflated with the term “small business” or used interchangeably with this term. While most entrepreneurial ventures start out as a small business, not all small businesses are entrepreneurial in the strict sense of the term. Many small businesses are sole proprietor operations consisting solely of the owner—or they have a small number of employees—and many of these small businesses offer an existing product, process or service and they do not aim at growth. In contrast, entrepreneurial ventures offer an innovative product, process or service and the entrepreneur typically aims to scale up the company by adding employees, seeking international sales and so on. An entrepreneurial mindset however is resilient, resourceful, and solutions-oriented — even when the conditions say otherwise. People with these mindsets are lifelong knowledge-seekers who are curious and creative, and they are critical thinkers. They’re self-directed, action-oriented, highly-engaged. They have optimistic interpretations of adverse events and see problems as potential opportunities. During my life I have come to the realization that we should not engross our time in praying the bad away but rather praying for endurance. Far too often we seek the ideology of a “soft life”. One where there is no identification of the disruptive or nuclear elements. But for without some of that which requires endurance, one can not develop the embodiment of strength of character and wisdom necessary for the mindset of resourcefulness.
