I adore this book. What a debut by Kerry Kilpatrick! The meet-cute is perfect. The spicy is spicy enough and the characters are loveable. ☕️☕️☕️ I am drawn to characters that are discovering new things about themselves, like Rory. And that they don't back away from truths about themselves that they may not have expected. Kink is interesting and I love that Rory's BFF Anders is so supportive of Rory's newfound part of himself. 🐰🐰🐰 And Gabe or Daddy, wow he made my knees go weak. The fact that his white lie turned his whole life upside down is perfection. 👌👌👌 I enjoy reading about the struggles and doubts you have when entering a new relationship, even if it is a fake one. 🥰 There are so many loveable characters in this book and I look forward to reading their stories later on. 🥰❤️🌶 🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰☕️🐰 #book #bookstagram #booksarelife #bookreviews #ilovereading #book #bookstagram #booksarelife #bookrecommendation #ilovereading #booksbooksbooks #justread #my2024books #readinggoals

▫️Saturday Series Rec▫️ The friend zone series by Abby Jimenez If you are looking for a feel good romance series this is for you! 🩵 The Friend Zone: Kristen is a straight forward, no nonsense type girl. She was funny and made me actually laugh out loud many times. Josh is the best man in Kristen’s best friend’s wedding. When she realizes he can put up with her sass it was game over. I think they are my favorite bookish couple! Josh was so sweet and patient with Kristen. This book does touch on infertility which can be triggering. 🩷 The Happy Ever After Playlist: Sloan is Kristen’s best friend in the first book and I’m not going to say much more to ruin the friend zone if you have not read that one yet. Sloan finds a stray dog and tries to get in touch with the owner, Jason. Sloan and Jason had instant attraction starting through texting and phone calls. Jason ends up being a famous singer who goes by a different name. This one again had laugh out loud humor and was a very swoon worthy rom com. Sloan and Jason take second place for my favorite book couple! 💛 Life’s Too Short: Vanessa, a famous YouTuber lives every day to the fullest as her mother and sister never saw age 30. Her half sister suddenly leaves Vanessa custody of her newborn daughter. After a long night of nonstop baby crying, Vanessa’s hot lawyer neighbor shows up to offer help. Adrian had her falling for him fast which is something she vowed she would never do because of a future she may never see. This one was a little slower for me, but still had me hooked. Have you read this series? You will not be disappointed!

We’re only 5 months into 2024 and I think it’s time for me to do my 2023 wrap-up (Thanks @the.storygraph for the helpful stats!). My big goal was to read 40,000 pages. This is more than I’ve ever read in a year. I set a high page goal so I could focus on long books and not feel like I would fall behind on a book count goal. I did reach my goal, but towards the second half of the year I was cramming in as many graphic novels as I could to read pages quickly. 81% of the books I read were audiobooks and I spent 1,223.62 hours listening. Though it’s really closer to 700 hours since I listen at 1.75-2x. What speed do you listen at? The authors I read the most were James S.A. Corey, Brandon Sanderson, and V.E. Schwab. I really enjoy these authors but my goal for next year is to have my most read authors be all women or non-binary people! 🍄Hello my lovely Kings, Queens and In-Betweens! How are you all doing? What are you currently reading? 🍄I quite literally just finished reading An Inquiry Into Innocence by R.N. Cogley and can gladly say I enjoyed it and would highly recommend it! Thank you to @cranthorpemillner for sending a copy my way!! .... 🍄My Review **TW** Violence, substance ab*se, injury detail, domestic ab*se, d3ath, murder, emotional ab*se, manipulation, homophobia Eli Kelly has been sentenced for a crime he does not remember committing. All his memories from that day have been wiped. But, after 7 years in prison, he is presented with an opportunity to possibly redeem himself and in order to do this he must remember. Is he innocent or guilty? This book was such a quick read. I flew through it. Diving into corruption of the justice system, this book was certainly tense. From the beginning I had a soft spot for Brendan, Eli's cellmate, and I adored their friendship. Likewise with Charlie, their friendship was strong and I loved how Eli kept her secret safe. I had taken a guess as to who had done something in the prison and was right...but oh my I did not realise how far this would have went. When the past came bubbling back up I'm not sure I was entirely ready for what was revealed. Cogley certainy has potential as an author and I would love to read more of his works! .... #aninquiryintoinnocence #rncogley #cranthorpemilner #cmpublishers #bookish #crimenovels #crime #books #bookreview #bookreviewer #booksta #bookstagram #readinggoals #reader #currentlyreading #arc #arcreviewer #arcreader #bookworm

Book Review: Killers Of A Certain Age ◇Author: Deanna Raybourn ◇Genre: Thriller ◇Pages: 368 ◇You might enjoy this if you like -Middle aged heroines -Spy movies -Girl power ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 Synopsis: Billie, Mary Alice, Helen, and Natalie have worked for the Museum, an elite network of assassins, for forty years. Now their talents are considered old-school and no one appreciates what they have to offer in an age that relies more on technology than people skills. When the foursome is sent on an all-expenses paid vacation to mark their retirement, they are targeted by one of their own. Now to get out alive, they have to turn against their own organization, relying on experience and each other to get the job done, knowing that working together is the secret to their survival. I’ve been reading more books about middle-aged heroines lately, and I think we just need more of that. I am not middle aged, but honestly I feel like sometimes I can relate to these middle aged women on a personal level. This one was just fun. Its a bunch of ladies who certainly don’t act their age, and have a good time while doing it. There are some good bouts of humor to the story that make it an interesting read. What fell short was the surface level storytelling. Some of the characters just fell a little bit flat, and I wanted a bit more out of the plot. It was somewhat of a predictable storyline, but I ultimately cared about the fate of our characters. Either way, those who enjoy reading about older MCs will find some enjoyment with this book.

Some doors are locked for a reason… 🚪 This was a fairly good read, however it’s not my favourite from this author. 🔪Thriller Book Review🔪 The Return by Rachel Harrison 1⭐ When Julie goes missing her friends and family eventually hold a funeral for her in order to attempt to heal and move on. But after two years her disappearance she returns, but is in no way the same as she once was. Her best friends, Elise, Mae, and Molly, decide to do a girl's trip with her to the Catskills in order to try and connect with the new Julie. I really hated this and it probably should have been a DNF, but I'm so bad at doing that because like.... what if it gets better?!?! It makes me sad that I didn't like this because I don't like to write harsh reviews and I thought Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison was fantastic, but this just wasn't good. It was so boring. I am not kidding when I say that the first 80%ish was just dialogue that did not move the plot forward at all. Just a lot of "friends" who didn't really like each other, whispering about the return of their weird friend, but never talking to her about it. This just went nowhere..... And the ending gave me nothing. This was my 39th book of 2024! #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #audiobookstagram #audiobookstagrammer #audiobooksarebooks #ilovetoread #readmorebooks #readingchallenge #reading2024 #readinggoals #books #bookreview #michaelbereading #rachelharrison #thereturnbook

24-Day Countdown to the Book Launch of: Two Suitcases To Success You know what? If I know a shortcut to where you want to go, and I'm aware you're heading there, I would share it with you. Why? Because what's the purpose of having this information and not sharing it? The same goes for intellectual shortcuts. If I'm aware of a system or tool that you need, I would still do the same. Why? Because that’s what I would want you to do for me. It's often said, "Treat others as you would want to be treated if the situation were reversed." These are some of the shortcuts I've come across on my book challenge journey of reading and listening to 100 books a year, aiming for 1,000 books in ten years. You might not know this, but this year, I will reach my goal of completing 800 books since I started back in 2016. Not everyone is into books, especially those focused on self-development, self-help, and helping others, but I wish we all were. This book is considered another shortcut for some well-needed mental, physical, spiritual, and social intercourse to enrich and make your experience of life even more profound. Review for 'The Weight of Our Sky', by Hanna Alkaf 4.5 out of 5 stars Summary: This novel, set around the racial riots of 13 May, 1969, highlights a dark spot in Malaysian history. We follow Melati, a teenager plagued by visions of her mother dying in various gory ways. These visions, Mel believes, is planted by a vicious djinn. To protect her mother she has to keep a strict ritual of counting and tapping. However, when simmering racial tension comes to a boil and the city is on fire, Mel must find her mother amidst the chaos and survive... Wow. Just wow. I don't know why I put off reading this book for so long. It's a well-written, jaw-dropping story, with so much to unpack. It not only chronicles a tragic time when the Malays and the Chinese decided that they could no longer co-exist, but also one of an intense mental health struggle, characterized by Mel's OCD. The novel begins with, 'By the time school ends on Tuesday, my mother has died seventeen times.' Over the course of 274 pages, we see Mel grapple with those intrusive thoughts, an overwhelming need to keep counting and tapping, and how if she fails or misses a count, people will die. Mel can't turn it off - it doesn't work that way - not even when her own life is in danger (if anything, that exacerbates her obsession with numbers and the tapping). I am in awe with how expertly and respectfully Hanna Alkaf presented Mel's condition, and it really delivers the point of how paralysing, how suffocating those thoughts can be. As someone born and raised in Malaysia, I have always been proud of our multiracial society and heritage. I had best friends who are Malay, Chinese, and Indian. We have so many public holidays, in honour of the different cultures and religions. Have I also mentioned all the amazing food, not only from the individual races, but the remarkable fusions that come from the mixture of them? Therefore, I think our diversity is our greatest asset, which makes this a difficult book for me to read. [TBC in comments]

■ Sunshine Saturday ■ What is something that made you smile this week? I have a couple of happy thoughts to share 🥰 Last night, my boyfriend and I went out to eat to celebrate my birthday from this past week. I asked him to surprise me and he brought me to our favorite sushi restaurant. I ate so much sushi. 🍣😁 I've had so many sweet patients this week at the hospital. One, I've seen since I evaluated her in the emergency room and she came up to my unit. She and I joke all the time and have great conversations. I also saw a patient who was dedicated to making everyone smile. He told he loves making people smile and he was grateful for all the work we do. The last patient I'd like to share I didn't even see for treatment. She was disappointed in her discharge plan from the hospital, and while she didn't want to do any therapy, we simply talked about anything and everything. I could tell a difference in her expression from when I entered to when I left. Our hospital was being surveyed last week, so I had toned down my usual makeup and earrings so as not to draw attention to myself. This week, I started back into my usual routine. So many people at work came up to me to tell how happy they were to see my colorful makeup and earrings again. 🥰 Especially the older gentleman who takes out tickets at the parking garage. He's a riot. How about you? 😊☀️💛 #sunshinesaturday #bookcommunity #bookclub #happiness #happythoughts #booksta #bookish #bookishlove #bookishlife #bibliophile #booklover #bookworm #booknerd #bookaholic #bookaddict #bookobsessed #bookhoarder #booksbooksbooks #booksforlife #readingchallenge #readinggoals #bookrecommendations #bookreviews #positivity #love #bookstagram #booknook

Books I'd like to read in May 🌱🌻🌸🌹🌷🥀 Huge thank you to @brazen.books for this gorgeous proof of The Eyes Are The Best Part! Can't wait to sink my teeth into this literary horror 🤪 For some more relaxed, philosophical vibes, I'm feeling Milan Kundera. From what I've read, I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about this one, but I'm looking forward to trying it. I've been kindly approved for James on @netgalley and really want to read Huckleberry Finn first. I'm sure I read it as a young adult, but I have no memory of it, so I definitely need a reread. And I've never read any Salman Rushdie, so I picked up this controversially titled stunner! I'm hoping to get to it soon 🙏 What's everyone else looking forward to reading in the near future? #booksta #bookish #readinggoals #bookstagramuk #literaryfiction #booked #bookrecs #bookreview #bookrecommendations #whatiread #tbr #paperback #bookstack #TBR

Well that was different!! I loved it soooo much!!! I was intrigued by the idea of two serial killers falling in love, but didn’t know how much I’d come to love them so much!!! Sloane’s dry humor had me laughing along then entire time and knowing her demons, made me appreciate Rowan. The PATIENCE and gentleness this man had with her! Just the sweetest love story I’ve ever read wrapped into serial killers killing other serial killers lol. Nothing odd to see here 😂. Completed my reading goal already this yr. I will continue to read. Audio books have been a god send while I've been at work. I've found that when I pushed myself to read a lot, I got into slumps quicker or just read for the sake of hitting that goal and not enjoying reading like I used to. So I've set the bar low, and if I make it great, If I read more fantastic, but one thing I'm not doing anymore is making myself read for the sake of a goal. #goodreads #audio #reading #bookstagram #tbr #tomanybookstolittletime #readinggoals #2024 #reading2024 #bookdragon #bookworm # #fantasybooks #smutt #fantasy #ya

What I didn’t expect was the silent despair, honest grief, and pure knowledge contained within the book’s pages. this book is a calm, sad, and lovely story about what and who we take for granted, as well as the small moments we don’t realise and treasure until they pass. It left me feeling hollow in an incredibly terrible way, helped me appreciate my asian culture and my mother even more. I related to the author in a variety of ways which just made me cry even harder. The small bits of knowledge and humour brought this book to life. if you need a good cry, here it is. also, fyi, michelle zauner is also the lead vocalist of the alternative pop band called “Japanese Breakfast” so i recommend listening to their sad songs while reading this book! 💭🎧 🏷️ #cryinginhmart #michellezauner #michellezaunercryinginhmart #yearlyreadingchallenge #readinggoals #didnotfinish #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #bookrecommendations #bookreview

It's amazing to see how she can convey so much in so few words. My favourite among these is Foster ❤️ I suggest reading in this order - 1. Foster 2. Small things like these 3. Antarctica 4. So late in the day I've posted my reviews of these recently. Check them out 🫶🏼 Have you read any of these? I have a funny story.. no really, I do!😌 It’s an Emily Henry kinda Friday!💜✨ Can’t wait to start this book😻 Weekly reading update: 70% 🎧 into The Assassin’s Blade by SJM and things are getting pretty intense 😬, also 70% 📖 into Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. Stay tuned for the reviews!✨ I just realized I went off the TBR books for this month. I totally forgot about “My Year of Rest and Relaxation” and need to pick it back up soon. But at least I’m still on track with my book count and reading goal for this year. my long awaited book review on the fury by @alex.michaelides !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 can i just say, i absolutely LOVE the way this story is written and the way the author writes altogether. i loved his first two books so so much and i have been anticipating a new release, so when i saw this book in a shop i was very excited to dive into it!! he did not disaapoint with the cliffhangers. one of my favourite parts of his novels. so very talented. i found myself more interested in certain parts of the story than others but i overall loved this plot idea very much! i am glad i read this book, and you should too!! let me know if you’ve read any of his other books before, such as the silent patient or the maidens! 🏷️🏷️ #bookreview #alexmichaelides #mystery #mysterynovel #booksbooksbooks #bookreviewer #booktok #thrillerstory #plottwist #greatbook #recommendedreads #bookrecommendations #bookworm #booklover #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookcommunity #bookishlove #aestheticbookstagram #readingblog #readingtime #goodreads #foryoupage #follow #foryoupage💙 #goodauthors #readingmakesmehappy #readinggoals

Finished Book # 23 of 2024. The Letters We Keep By Nisha Sharma @nishawrites 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I binge this one over the last 3 days cause I was so easy to read and kept me hooked. First, I chose this as my free Kindle FirstRead for the month of April, and I am glad I did. This was so wonderful! I read some reviews before, one of which said it was cliché and predictable. So what?! It was captivating and kept me hooked. Isn't that all that matters? Ravi and Jessie are a heartwarming couple and they make you wanna cheer for them. Ms. Sharma wrote a gentleman in Ravi and not a cliché 3rd year rich boy turned softy. He's good hearted (rich boy) and prejudged from the get go. Jessie is an awkward College Freshman, basically broke, and highly relatable. She is outspoken when necessary but sometimes to a fault, while at the same time a little insecure. Which is how real people are sometimes. I loved the mystery rhey decide to solve together and the slight twist involved in it by the end. I didn't suspect it until the last few chapters. I would rate this a 🌶🌶🌶 point 5 on the spicy scale, mainly because I wouldn't specifically recommend to family just cause.....well, I don't recommend spicy books to family. It's just how I am. But definitely highly recommend to anyone 18+. 📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚 #collegeromance #romance #romancefiction #southasianamericanliterature #theletterswekeep #nishasharma #bookstagram #booktok #newbooks #readingaddict #bookaddict #reading #readinglist #reading2024 #readit #read #readtoescape #readtogrow #readmorebooks #readforfun #books #booksofinstagram #book23 #recommendedreading #strongfemalecharacters #booklist #booknerd #bookworm #readinggoals #1010wouldrecommend

■ Book Review ■ Skinwalker Ranch: No Trespassing by Ryan Skinner & D L Wallace Published: 2014 Genre: Nonfiction, Historical, Paranormal Pages: 226 Summary: There is a piece of property in Utah that borders the Uintah-Ouray Indian Reservation in the north-east extent of the state that many believe to be a vortex of inter-dimensional and paranormal activity. Due to the untold number and frequency of unexplainable encounters this location has earned itself the name of Skinwalker Ranch. But the Skinwalker—a legendary creature feared back before the time of the Native Americans indigenous to the Great Basin—is only a small part of a phenomena that includes some of the most intense UFO sightings ever witnessed and recorded, inter-dimensional portals, intelligent orbs of energy, physical entities beyond identification and other real-life manifestations. For the first time you have the opportunity to hear the voices and words of those who have dared to enter into that vortex, to know of their experiences first hand, to separate truth from fiction and decide for yourself if the world is really what you think it is. Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review: This book provided a lot more background information into the area around Skinwalker Ranch, the people and organizations involved in research, and the cultural significance of the area and the Skinwalker. While it was interesting to read first-hand reports of guards attempting to record and contact phenomena, it became very difficult to digest. It was very easy to be bogged down by information that felt repetitious and unending with very little conclusions. #books #bookrecommendations #bookreviews #bookseries #skinwalkerranchnotrespassing #skinwalkerranch #ryanskinner #dlwallace #paranormalbooks #nonfiction #historicalbooks #booknerd #booknook #bookworm #bookaholic #bookaddict #bookobsessed #booksbooksbooks #bookclub #bookcommunity #bibliophile #booklover #booklove #bookish #bookishlove #bookishlife #readinggoals #readingchallenge #booksta #bookstagram

☁️Book Review☁️ 📖Granite Harbor By Peter Nichols 📣Pub Date: April 30, 2024 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 ——— ▪️Read this if you like: ▫️ritualistic murder in a small Maine town ▫️then/now timeline ▫️grisly & detailed ——— 💭My Thoughts This was a weird one!🫣 As a Mainer myself, I was immediately intrigued by this book; there’s lots of references to Maine throughout it, and it was fun seeing those. I do think it’s best to go in blind, as a pretty big plot point is revealed in the synopsis that doesn’t happen until the last 1/3 of the book (I did, however, remove the spoiler from the synopsis I’ve included on the 2nd slide, if you want to read it). The book kicks off with a murder, and though it was obvious to me who the killer was early on, I’d say this is less murder mystery, and more exploring how/why the murderer does what they do. This was a quick and bingeable read, and I found myself just as interested in the past timeline as I was in the present one. There’s times where things can get graphic and super weird, but I like that sort of thing in a book depending on how it’s handled, and it worked for me here. The last 1/4 gets pretty fast paced, and I was glued to my book to see how it all ended. Thank you @celadonbooks for the advance copy.

{⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW} • ✨BRITT-MARIE WAS HERE by Fredrik Backman ✨BOOK #22 of 2024 ✨YEAR OF PUBLICATION: 2016 {in US; 2014 in Sweden} • 📖QUICK SYNOPSIS: After Britt-Marie walks out on her cheating husband, and employment agency helps her land a job as the caretaker of a run-down recreation center in the town of Borg. As Britt-Marie becomes acquainted with the eccentric assortment of residents, she meets a group of children, and inadvertently becomes their soccer coach, hoping to lead them to victory. • 💭THOUGHTS: Britt-Marie is the female counterpart to Backman’s character Ove in “A Man Called Ove”, and Backman always does an amazing job developing flawed, dynamic, and lovable characters in each of his novels. However, while I loved “A Man Called Ove”, this book missed the mark for me. Unfortunately, I felt like the storyline was way too similar, and I was hoping for something more unique. I also felt like the story was a bit slower, so I just didn’t connect to the book or characters as much. With the small town kids’ sports team storyline, I also got Beartown vibes, if you enjoyed that one! {Beartown was written after this novel}. Overall, it was a heartwarming read with some an eclectic cast of characters, but not my favorite of the author’s.

#22 🔅🔅🔅🔅🔅 Why we love dogs, eat pigs and wear cows! 📚 I think everything by @drmelaniejoy is pure gold! 📚 Thank you @wishbonearlab for another amazing loan from your library. ❤️ 📚 The title is so true and this is all because...of speciesism. We love one and do not care about the other. Furry is cute and cuddly and can come to bed, but big is ugly and dirty and should stay in the bad conditions on the farm. 📚 Very informative and again heavily researched book with lots of valuable information. If you’re looking to get a deep insight into the meat industry, read this book. You may find some passages stressful and disturbing, but this is why meat eaters should read it! 📚 Melanie Joy: “We love dogs and eat cows not because dogs and cows are fundamentally different--cows, like dogs, have feelings, preferences, and consciousness--but because our perception of them is different.” . . . . . #whywelovedogseatpigsandwearcows #melaniejoy #veganbook #femaleauthor #loanedbook #wishbonearlab #softoverbook #booksofinstagram📚 #onebookaweek #onebookaweekchallenge #bookstagramcommunity #bookwormlife #booknerdigan #bibliophilelife #bookwormforlife #instabookstagram #bookaholics #ilovereadingbooks #lovebooks📚 #bookseveryday #readinggoals #ieatbooks #veganwriter

"The Porcelain Moon is a book I borrowed from @kitread.s which was part of her Canadian book box last year. Janie Chang is a fabulous Taiwanese author who incorporates Asian story telling into historical fiction. This novel takes us to 1918, as the Great War comes to an end and follows the stories of two women in France. One is an immigrant who is determined to avoid the marriage her uncle has arranged for her in Shanghai. The other is an impoverished granddaughter of French nobility stuck in an abusive marriage. It traces the history of the Chinese Labour Core, which is an often untold story of 140,000 Chinese men who acted as non-combatant workers doing the drudgery of war for no recognition and often racist treatment. It counted as my first print TBR book February, though technically I did finish it in January. It also was a Read The Stack book, an A-Z Author pick, and the War Story prompt for Build Your Library - Reading Through History. Finally, it was a Decolonize Your Bookshelf 2024 pick (after being looked over in 2023) for a War Story by an Asian author. Whew, that's a lot. #readinggoals #readersofinstagram #reading #reviews #reading2024 #readmorebooks #readersgonnaread #readreadread #bookobsessed #booklover #books #bookreview #booklover #books #bookreview #bookstagram #raireads #raireads2024

The second book in the Fate & Flame series. This book hits a lot of silly fantasy tropes but the the audio version holds my attention from start to finish, just like the first book. A realm-travel fantasy with clever class conflict between the ruling immortals and their subserviant food source. It blends a little fae and vampire mythology and even though it's a little corny with the true-love relationship, it uses some dark storytelling. I think most of my enjoyment comes from an amazing narrator because the pacing and storytelling just comes to life. The only challenge I logged this under is the A-Z Authors. But there is a sub challenge that I'm not actively pursuing of finishing all the series I've started. It's top of mind, as I do everything else this year including these over due reviews! #readinggoals #readersofinstagram #reading #reviews #reading2024 #readmorebooks #readersgonnaread #readreadread #bookobsessed #booklover #books #bookreview #booklover #books #bookreview #bookstagram #raireads #raireads2024

🔪Thriller Book Review🔪 The Good Girl by Mary Kubica 2.5⭐ Mia Dennett, the daughter of a prominent Chicago judge, is stood up on a date and ends up making the worst mistake of her life when she meets, Colin, a stranger who she can't help but be drawn to. Colin was hired to kidnap Mia and deliver her to his employer, but when he can't follow through, he hides with her in a remote Minnesota cabin as the search for her intensifies. Hmmmmm.... I feel like this should have been better than it was. It started off strong, and then the middle got super long and repetitive. The slow burn of the kidnapper and kidnap victim becoming enthralled with each other was pretty predictable, and honestly icky. While I was interested in the part of this book that focused on Mia's loved ones unraveling while looking for her, I didn't really love the parts between Mia and her abductor. As someone who has lived in Wisconsin for 16 years, I did enjoy that I recognized so many of the cities and scenery that was mentioned from Chicago to Northern Minnesota. However, the plot twist at the end felt forced and completely unnecessary... This was Mary Kubica's first book, and it shows, because I felt the other three books I have read by her were 4 or 5 stars easily! This was my 38th book of 2024! #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #audiobookstagram #audiobookstagrammer #audiobooksarebooks #ilovetoread #readmorebooks #readingchallenge #reading2024 #readinggoals #books #bookreview #michaelbereading #marykubica #thegoodgirlbook

Crying in H Mart: A Memoir by Michelle Zauner Adult Memoir Intimate, relatable, touching This book published a couple of years ago, but thanks to amazing marketing and publicity and a memorable cover, I remembered it last fall and thought, Why haven’t I read this yet? Well, I’m glad I did! It’s a beautiful and honest memoir about growing up and later losing someone dear, and these stories are woven through with cooking and eating Korean food. Food connects to family to love to memories, and this book reminds us to cherish those connections, even if they’re sometimes painful. #bookstagram #bookrecs #bookstack #bookreview #bookrecommendations #whatareyoureading #readinggoals

⭐️Book Review - The Teacher by Frieda McFadden ⭐️ Synopsis Lesson 1 trust no one. Eve has a good life. She wakes up every day. Kisses her husband Nate and heads of to teach maths at the local high school. All is as it should be except the high school was rocked last year by a scandal involving a student- teacher affair with one student, Addie at its centre. Eve knows there is more to these rumours that meets the eye. Addie can’t be trusted. She lies and she hurts people. No one knows the real Addie. No body knows the secrets that could destroy her and she’d do anything to keep it quiet. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is my first Frieda book and I have to say I found her style of writing throughly enjoyable. The story was easy to read and a fast paced thriller with short chapters which made this book easy to devour in a couple of days. There is a fair few twists and the ending I have to say left me thinkjng “what the f@&k?” But I guess the story came to a full circle in the end. I am very keen to read more of Frieda’s books!

The House with Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson Middle grade novel—great for adults Whimsical, adventurous, a bit heartbreaking I had already read and loved The Witch and the Tsar, having stumbled upon it in the new books section of my library, when I encountered The House with Chicken Legs in the children’s section. Another Baba Yaga story! I grabbed it right up! It features Marinka, a girl whose grandmother is a Yaga, and there are other Yagas to meet. Marinka’s not sure she wants to follow in their footsteps, and this is no small consideration. But she dives into figuring it out anyway, which makes for a great story! The cover illustration is great too! #bookstagram #bookrecs #bookstack #bookreview #bookrecommendations #whatareyoureading #readinggoals #middlegrade
