Weekly overview 🩵 🗣️ I did a talk / presentation at another hospital which felt amazing. The staff and parents were so receptive to learning more about autism which fills me with hope, and it was lovely to meet the patients too. 🏥 I had follow ups for my silly knee (I hate hospitals more than anything and I also hate taking care of myself so it has been a bit of a journey) and also wore my 🌻 lanyard! 🫂 saw friends (and met a wonderful person!) which was SO lovely and helped me feel better. I’m terrible at isolating myself when I feel low and always forget that meeting people (generally on a 1:1 basis and people I feel comfortable around) helps me feel better. ✅ tried some new snacks, meal combos and puddings 👌🏻 🪫 felt very tired by the end of the week and I took the weekend to reset myself. This meant routine, lie ins, dog hugs and painting. Overall? A successful week, lots of driving done and many places visited, a calmer weekend and felt much better energy wise by the end of it. I was reflecting with mum that the fact that even half of what I’m doing is possible is amazing. And that has come from fuelling it. Magical stuff, food! #actuallyautistic #edrecovery #actuallyunmasking

There are so many things I’m finding out aren’t ‘just me’ things, but actually autistic things. Which is great, because it’s putting a lot of things into context for me and helping me understand myself. But it’s also left me wondering where the bits of me that are ‘just me’ actually are…but I think it’s more complex than that and I’m trying to embrace all of the bits of me as a whole 💛 . . . #actuallyunmasking #actuallyautistic #unmaskingmyautism #latediagnosedautistic #neurodivergentwomen #autisticadults #autisticwoman #differentnotless #neurodiversityisbeautiful

Through a stimulating question I got on IG, I said this. Looking back, I realized how much I just needed to feel supported. To feel validated. I didn’t know I was autistic then, but I knew I was already different culturally and it was a lonely place. Instead I changed and hid myself away so that I would be less of a burden to anyone. With that I sacrificed myself constantly. I grew up being told that being too much was a bad thing. That I had to sacrifice my happiness for others. Feeling the pressures to fit in with people who didn’t fully accept me or understand me or my cultural differences let alone my neurodivergence. Eventually I got way too good at masking and then what? I lost myself. I became whatever anyone wanted me to be. People valued me because they valued the mirror of themselves. I was reflecting exactly who they wanted me to be. So with this, I write a reminder to young me: You’re going to be okay. You’re going to find people who just GET you and really know you. But first you’re going to have to learn how to take off the ideas of what people want you to be. Then you’ll find you. You’ll find that person you’re proud of and attract all the right people for you. 🫶🏻✨

I thought to write how I have managed with my neurodiversity, having Audhd. For me it's more autism that I have, but I also think there are not enough words to describe all that I am, or anyone of us is. For me really helpful to manage have been: ❇️ Deep dive inside me, who I am ❇️ Questioning everything ❇️ Unmasking, being just me ❇️ Letting my stims come when they come ❇️ Being aware of my energies ❇️ Getting to know what drains my energy ❇️ Medication ( I know all can't access that) ❇️ Therapy ( I know all can't access that either) ❇️ Being myself, not apologising ❇️ Headphones always in public ❇️ Sound minimizing earplugs in group setting ❇️ Meeting people preferably one at a time ❇️ Vocalising my needs and my uncomforts ❇️ Spending time not doing anything ❇️ Work from home ( I know all can't access that) ❇️ Listening to myself carefully

Managing energy levels as an autistic is very difficult when trying to fit into the demands of a neurotypical world. It seems to be very much a process of self learning to recognise your own needs but here are some key points to think about. [lmk if you see this p0st, i’m tryna see smth] ☆ A lack of justice has always gotten to me. If you know me, you know that I feel that for the oppressed, which I bring up frequently, but I also feel it for myself—and not just on a societal scale. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I look back and I look around and I wonder “why am I not enough for people? everyone eventually finds a spot in the world, it seems. Why don’t I?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ and if you’re someone who’s felt like this and talked to a therapist about it, you might be used to hearing “oh, that’s not true. you just must be thinking badly about yourself and *thinking * people don’t like you”, which is SO invaliding to the reality of having been left out your whole life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I look back on the pathways I was sent down growing up presenting very visibly Autistic, and I can’t help but wonder if things could have been different. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ with returning to regularly posting on this account, i’m trying not to chase anymore—to not feel driven by my need to be liked, which is what it felt like this became. will that make people like me more? no. it doesn’t work like that. as much as people would like to boil down being liked to ~💐just being yourself🥳~. as convenient as it might be, it doesn’t necessarily work like that. but it might preserve your sanity and save you a little embarrassment in the long run 🫣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ also, I found that weird ornament at the thrift shop wth ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #mentalhealth #mentalhealthrecovery #mentalhealthblogger #actuallyautistic #actuallyautisticadult #actuallyunmasking #actuallyautisticblogger #actuallyautisticmemes #dannygonzalez #fastestgrowingarmyonyoutube #jacksfilms #actuallyadhd #audhd #audhder #autisticadults #autisticmeme

This week I have the pleasure of introducing you to a captivating artist whose work transcends boundaries and preconceptions. Desiree, known in the art world as Desi THE Artist, is not just a creator of lifestyle and conceptual portraits; she is a transformative force, reshaping the way we perceive art, identity, and autism. As an artist, Desi THE Artist uses her medium to tell stories that resonate deep within the human experience. But her journey is more than just brushstrokes on canvas; it's a profound exploration of identity. She proudly identifies as queer and is a late-diagnosed autistic individual, a combination that adds a unique layer to her artistry. What sets Desi apart is her unwavering commitment to challenge the misconceptions surrounding autism, particularly within the BIPOC and AFAB communities. Her platform serves as a beacon of awareness, shining a light on the intersectionality of autism, queerness, and race. Through her work, she dismantles stereotypes and fosters a more inclusive and understanding world. #podcast #neurospicy #neurodivergent #actuallyautistic #actuallyunmasking #youtube #spotify #applepodcasts #audhd #intersectionality #autizzy

In Part 1 of a special Double Episode of Beyond Deconstructing Neurodivergence, I have the privilege of introducing you to a voice of wisdom, healing, and profound self-acceptance. Praise Ara is not just an advocate for self-care, trauma healing, and wellness; she's a beacon of light in the world of neurodivergent perspectives. In a world often obsessed with self-improvement and the notion of "fixing" ourselves, Praise Ara's message is a refreshing and essential reminder: You are not a self-improvement project; you are not a broken thing in need of fixing. You are enough as you are. Her words resonate deeply, reminding us all of the intrinsic worth we carry within ourselves. What sets Praise Ara apart is not just her message but her unique perspective and concise approach to deconstructing shared experiences within the autistic community. Her insights have a profound impact, challenging us to see the world through a different lens and to embrace our neurodivergent identities without reservation. In Part 2 of this special Double Episode of Beyond Deconstructing Neurodivergence we welcome back a returning guest, Jesenia aka Neurospicy Networking. We had a candid and informative conversation about the importance of having emotionally regulated conversations as we endeavor to share our advocacy with others. With the current state of the world, it is easy to understand how and why so many people are feeling the fatigue of having to face the truth of the horrors that have been ignored for far too long. Jesenia is a dedicated community facilitator and builder, specializing in serving nonprofits and community-focused organizations. At the heart of her work is a deep commitment to fostering meaningful connections, igniting engagement, and driving positive change. #podcast #neurospicy #neurodivergent #actuallyautistic #actuallyunmasking #youtube #spotify #applepodcasts #audhd

Super excited to announce my new blog and podcast! You can listen to my first podcast episode by checking it out on Spotify (it will be up on Apple Podcasts soon). In the episode, I go in depth with sharing my story as an undiscovered neurodivergent adult, how I learned I’m autistic in my early twenties, how leaving a relationship and my religious beliefs behind launched me on a path of spirituality and self-discovery, how I’ve learned to work with my differences and unmask in the last few years, and what my intentions are for starting this podcast. . My goal in creating this podcast is to encourage, inspire, and empower neurodivergent adults to embrace more of who they’ve always been, and to live wild and free lives that feel authentic to who they are. . I’ve got lots of solo episodes planned where I’ll share lots of the spiritual and personal growth tools that have helped me unmask.. and I’ll be bringing on some awesome neurodivergent guests, too! . I invite you to check out my podcast on Spotify, and to check out my new blog, too.. If you sign up for my email list, you’ll get access to my new free library of unmasking resources! . Click the link in my bio to check out my new blog.

Hailing from the Appalachian region, Tatum aka Pot8um is not just an artist; she's a force of nature. As an autistic individual and AuDHD advocate, she's been carving her own path, unearthing the beauty in her neurodiversity while fiercely advocating for others like her. But Tatum's activism doesn't stop at the neurodiversity door; she's also a staunch anti-capitalist activist, challenging the structures that often marginalize those who are different. Her journey is a testament to the power of self-education and self-expression. As an autodidact, she's charted her own course, gaining knowledge and insights that have made her a formidable voice in the disability rights movement. And when she speaks, she doesn't just speak for herself; she represents a vibrant community, proudly identifying with the #ActuallyAutistic banner. Join me on Monday October 9 for the season premier of Beyond Deconstructing Neurodivergence. Catch the entirety of this enlightening conversation with the indomitable Tatum, and explore the world of activism and advocacy from a perspective that's as unique as it is powerful. This episode promises to challenge our preconceptions, ignite our passions, and remind us all that every voice, especially those often marginalized, deserves to be heard. #actuallyautistic #neurodivergent #neurospicy #actuallyunmasking #podcast #audhd

I don’t believe in taking breaks from healing, or from unmasking, for that matter. True healing and unmasking is about having the courage to be brave and examine the darker parts of ourselves… and it’s also about giving ourselves rest, play, and creativity. . True healing is knowing what kind we need to give ourselves most at any given moment. Sometimes it’s shadow work, therapy, and journaling… and sometimes, it’s reading a good book, taking a nap, going out with a friend, or losing ourselves in our favorite hobby. . Sometimes unmasking looks like knowing when to be brave and show our authentic selves around others… and sometimes it looks like knowing when to mask for our well-being and self-protection, and when we need to spend more time alone. . Don’t become so obsessed with the idea of “healing” that you forget to live your life! 💗

A new image for your NEUROCOMPLEX 👀…Share in your stories to spread the [new] WORD✨🌀 . Neurocomplexity is a NEW term (defined below) that honors the ALCHEMY of neurodivergent intersectional force and takes a GESTALT approach to co-occurring patterns of complexity and intersectionality within one being. Though long-term, unconscious masking creates serious mental health consequences, conscious, self-protective masking makes our lives easier and protects us from harm. . When we understand this difference, we can mask in a way that helps us, instead of in a way that harms us. . Conscious, self-protective masking is best done when we understand the situations in which it helps us, when we know that our masks are not are personal truths, when we prioritize self-discovery, and when we have safe people in our lives who accept us for our unmasked, authentic selves. . Do you sometimes mask in self-protective ways? Why or why not?

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done an introduction post, so it seems appropriate that I do another one. . I’m Katie, a multiply neurodivergent woman - I’m autistic and ADHD, and I also have Dyscalculia, and NVLD (Nonverbal Learning Disability). . I learned that I’m neurodivergent in my early twenties, and have been unmasking for the last few years. I’m a former evangelical Christian turned esoteric mystic with a passion for all things spiritual. . My goal with this account is to combine my passion for neurodiversity, unmasking, inner healing, spirituality, and personal growth… all of which are my greatest special interests. . In addition to these things, I’m also very passionate about traveling. I’ve solo traveled the country in my van, and am currently preparing to do that full-time. I love camping and being in nature. One of my goals is to visit every US national park! . I’m obsessed with my fluffy and sassy tuxedo cat Kitty, I love getting dressed up, my favorite color is pink, I’m a Leo sun, and writing is my all-time favorite form of self-expression. . My friends would say that I have the humor of a typical middle school boy (they aren’t wrong), I put maple syrup on my spaghetti, and if I could be any classic Hollywood actress, I would absolutely be Audrey Hepburn.

Say it with me: I deserve to live my own most badass, authentic neurodivergent life where I honor my needs and don’t pressure myself to live up to neurotypical standards that don’t work for me 🔥 . What does this look like for you? Do you feel that you’re currently living this life, or are you in the process of learning how to care for yourself in this way? . These are some of the ways that I live my most badass, authentic neurodivergent life… . ✨ Sometimes avoiding eye contact when I speak, because doing so helps me concentrate more on what I want to say . ✨ Sometimes staying up later to work when my brain feels more focused and starting my days later because of it with no shame . ✨ Sometimes putting on headphones and playing music when I take walks, while giving myself permission to not speak to or make eye contact with anyone . ✨ Sometimes feeling overwhelmed with noise and people and needing to take myself to a quiet space to recharge . What does this look like for you? Let me know in the comments ⬇️

When we’re bold enough to show our unmasked, authentic selves to the world, the Universe rewards us by attracting the right people into our lives who love and accept us for who we truly are. . Think about it like this. You probably wouldn’t become friends with someone else who constantly masked, because they never gave you the chance to see them for who they truly are. . In the same way, you probably won’t attract your ideal people into your life, because you’re not giving them a chance to see the real you. . Remember this – if they can’t see you, they’ll never accept you, because you never gave them the chance to see you in the first place. . It’s scary to show the world our unmasked selves, especially when the world isn’t always accepting of our differences. However, it’s not nearly as scary as continuing to live our lives hiding and fearing that we’ll never be accepted. . Some people won’t accept you, but the right people always will. That’s why it’s up to you to give them that opportunity! You may just be pleasantly surprised by the responses you get. Even if people don’t accept you, you can view their rejection as the cost of admission that will lead you to your people. It might take you a while to find them, so be patient. Remember, good things are always worth waiting for. . If you feel this post, and you’re ready to call in the friends and lovers who will accept you for who you truly are, drop a 💗

What does it mean to unmask? What does unmasking look like? . Unmasking will look different for each person, but it begins with being brave and curious enough to ask ourselves questions. . Many neurodivergents who heavily masked as children were never effectively taught how to question things. We survived being young children who felt afraid and confused in a neurotypical world by denying our true selves, and by being who we thought we needed to be to belong. We did the best that we could to protect ourselves.. and now that we’re adults who are aware of our neurodivergence, we don’t have to try so hard to do that anymore. . But it takes a lot of work to try not to try so hard. To release the self-doubt, to let go of the shame, to speak out, to do what makes us happy just because, and to live our lives in a way that makes us feel joyful. . After years of masking, it doesn’t feel natural for us to do these things.. but it gets easier the more that we can get in the habit of asking ourselves questions like these. . HABIT is the key word. It takes so much time to break toxic patterns that we’ve created to keep our inner children safe. So be gentle with yourself when you catch yourself continuing to mask in unhealthy ways. Your brain knows that masking in that way is unhealthy for you, but your nervous system still remembers all of the the pain that little you experienced in their most vulnerable moments. . Choose to see that child, and choose to give them love and compassion. Thank them for how they’re still trying to protect you, and tell them that they don’t have to try so hard anymore. . Tell them that you now know that everything they’ve ever needed has always existed within them, and that they don’t have to keep seeking outside of themselves for it. I hope the questions in this post inspire you to do that!

While there are so many consequences to masking Autism, that doesn't mean that it's never okay to wear the mask sometimes. Unfortunately, the world we live in wasn't built for autistic people, and many people aren't accepting of our differences. . It's not always easy being autistic in a neurotypical world - it's no wonder that so many of us have felt the pressure to mask for most of our lives. I believe that unmasking is very good for autistic people, but I also believe it's every autistic person's personal choice to decide when they're ready to do this. I especially believe that in certain situations, masking Autism is the smartest, safest choice that we can make. . If you're reading this right now and feeling inauthentic for continuing to mask, this is my message to you: You aren't being fake for masking. You're doing your best to survive and protect yourself in a society that wasn't built for you. . The mask you're wearing may be protecting you from abuse, trauma, and bullying. It may help you get through your work day more smoothly, and it may help you avoid judgment from other people that you don't need. Your decision to mask is always your choice.. not anyone else's. . If you find yourself feeling guilty for masking, remember this: Not everyone deserves to see your unmasked self, because not everyone will appreciate or accept them. Some people are cruel and manipulative, and as an autistic person, you have every right to protect yourself against that kind of behavior. There is nothing that's ever fake about that. . As a neurodivergent person, what situations do you still mask in? If any at all? Let me know in the comments below!! ✨✨✨

How do I eat intuitively as an autistic person that’s recovered from an eating disorder? This is a question I’ve received so often, and for good reason! I talk all about food freedom, extreme hunger, and honoring your body’s needs, while at the same time talking about how autistic people may struggle with recognizing their body’s cues… So how does honoring hunger fit together with being autistic? In my latest podcast episode (also always available as a blog post on my website!) I explain how I use my autistic traits to eat intuitively❤️ Listen wherever you get your podcasts! . . . . . #actuallyautistic #autism #edrecovery #anorexiarecovery #edsoldier #whatieat #interoception #anorexiaherstel #eetstoornis #eetstoornisherstel #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #foodfreedom #foodfreedomjourney #intuitiveeating #intuitiveeatingjourney #allinjourney #allinrecovery #nofoodrules #actuallyunmasking #extremehunger #mentalhunger #aspergirl #aspergirls #autisticfemale #adhdwoman #adhd #adhdisreal #whatieatinaday

The popular advice to “eat intuitively” doesn’t always work for neurodivergent people. This can be caused by many factors including interoceptive awareness, hyperfocus, and anxiety (putting your nervous system into a state that mutes hunger cues), among others. Especially if you struggle (or have struggled) with an eating disorder, feeling like you need to “eat intuitively” cannot only be super confusing, it can keep you stuck in disordered eating patterns! I believe the neurodivergent-friendly alternative to “intuitive eating” is LOGICAL eating. Not only is logical thinking a superpower of the neurodivergent mind, but it allows you to eat in a way that doesn’t have you second guessing or doubting every food decision. It’s how I eat and how I help many of my clients achieve their unique version of food freedom. To get your own individualized plan and learn how logical eating can support YOUR unique life, schedule a consultation call for 1-1 coaching through the link in my bio! #intuitiveeating #intuitiveeatingofficial #intuitiveeatingjourney #adhdawareness #foodfreedom #edrecovery #edrecoverywarrior #autismawareness #autismacceptance #actuallyautistic #actuallyunmasking #bingeeatingdisorderecovery #autismmemes #anorexiawarrior #anorexiasoldier #orthorexiarecovery #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #neurodiverse

I wanted to share a reflection in hopes that it will inspire others and raise awareness. I was asked: “is this a hill you’re willing to die on?” You know what? It is! Some days I feel overwhelmed by what seems like such a huge hill to climb when it comes to tackling ableism. Even for myself, I am trying to speak out about what it means to be a person who has a complex mix of many neurodivergent presentations… but I still feel such a stigma that because I am a professional and because I am seen as an expert in this field, I must not have any needs to be considered. People can be so demanding and dismissive towards boundaries and open expressions of adjustment or consideration required. Is it because I don’t look like I need support? Is it because what I need is not in alignment with what they think support needs should be? I am not sharing this for sympathy, I am sharing this to help raise awareness. As Devon Price said in their book Unmasking Autism, autistic people need to speak up about our experiences and needs if we want there to be meaningful change in our society and systems. If I want to talk the talk I also need to walk the walk! So, against my own internalised ableism, perfectionism, and self doubt, I share myself opening with you all. There are many things in my life that I need support with. Sometimes it’s a simple task like remembering to get myself in the shower! Sometimes it’s needing to be reminded how long things take (thanks time blindness 😝), sometimes it’s being reminded to drink water, to slow down, to rest… sometimes I need reminding that I am enough. I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that some things require more energy from me that others due to my neurodivergence, so if I can’t do as much as others… that’s okay! - continued in comments… . . . #actuallyunmasking #actuallyautistic #audhd #cptsd #dissociativedisorders #healing #storytelling #connection #occupationaltherapy #occupationaltherapist #neurodivergent #neurodivergentaffirming #onestepatatime #recovery #ed #selfdicovery #therapist #healer #intuitioninhealthcare #autisticculture #stimming #acceptance #awareness #ableism #disability #differentnotless #unique

Tap like if you agree! 💗 . Not having the support, tools, or awareness of our differences that we always needed may have caused us a lot of unnecessary struggling for years.. the same is true with years of masking, where we unconsciously hid parts of our authentic selves. . But now that we do have the awareness, it’s our responsibility to give ourselves the tools and support we need so we can create wildly beautiful, authentic, and fulfilling lives with the years we have left.

We all respond to stressful situations differently. This is part of our strengths and struggles as humans. . Our stress responses aren’t the only things that make up our masks, but they certainly are an important part. . When we understand our stress responses, we understand ourselves better. We can better identify the ways that we mask.. and while we’ll still always mask in these ways to an extent, we can learn to create healthy relationships with our stress responses and use them for good. . I believe that the fawn response is especially common in neurodivergent people who are great at masking, and I plan on writing future posts specifically about this response in the future. . Which of these stress responses can you see most prominently in yourself? Let me know in the comments! ✨✨✨

6/22/2023, 8:56:35 PM

“Say it with me… I can mask to protect my safety and well-being and still be in the process of unmasking.” . Most of us in the neurodivergent community are aware that masking, especially long-term masking, creates long-term mental health consequences such as anxiety, depression, and burnout. . But that being said, not all masking is harmful. People of all neurotypes find masking useful at different situations in their lives. This is true for many neurodivergent people, especially in school or work settings. . Some neurodivergent people are in toxic living situations with partners, parents, or roommates who aren’t understanding of their differences. . The advice “just be yourself” is sometimes terrible, and often even dangerous advice to give to neurodivergent people with socially unconventional ways of speaking and moving their bodies. . People in public who aren’t aware of stimming might perceive it as a threat. Sadly, this is very often the case, especially with law enforcement officers. . Some neurodivergent people don’t know how to mask their differences, which makes them more susceptible to serious harm, abuse, bullying, and misunderstanding… sometimes, even death. . This is why masking is a privilege, why we need more education about about neurodivergence, and why we should do our best to look out for neurodivergent people who can’t mask. . For those who are privileged enough to know how to mask: you can mask to protect yourself around possibly unsafe people and situations, AND you can unmask around safe people and safe situations. . Both can exist simultaneously in your life. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise ✨✨✨ . If you’re a neurodivergent woman who is looking for safe people to practice unmasking around, I invite you to check out my FREE unmasking group for neurodivergent women. Link is in my bio! 💗♾️

We talk a lot about masking in the neurodivergent community, but we don’t talk much about the different types of masks that we wear. . We never just wear one type of mask. Whether we’re neurotypical our neurodivergent, we all wear different masks around different people and settings. . A few examples of the masks we wear: the perfectionist, the people pleaser, the joker, the avoidant, the victim, the bully, the controller, and the socializer . So many things can be used as a mask. Someone might mask their sadness with anger. We can even use Autism, ADHD, and other neurotypes as masks to avoid taking personal responsibility for our lives. . Sometimes, the masks we wear help us.. and sometimes, they harm us. . But no matter what, it’s most important that we know we’re wearing the masks, so that we don’t unconsciously believe that our masks are who we really are. . I hope you find the masking questions in this post helpful.. and if you’d like to discuss these questions in a group setting with other neurodivergent women, I invite you to my weekly Zoom call in my unmasking Facebook group for neurodivergent women, this Monday night on 06/19 at 7pm EST. ✨ Masking is most harmful when we aren’t aware we’re doing it. . If you’re feeling frustrated that you’re struggling to unmask, know that you’ve already made a ton of progress, simply by being aware that you’re masking in the first place. The more consciousness we bring to our masks, the less harm they create for us. . ✨ We can mask in healthy ways and still be in the process of unmasking. . Society is often cruel to those who are different. It’s okay, and even wise to mask in certain situations, especially when our safety and well-being are concerned. Many neurodivergent people mask in situations like work or school, or around certain people who aren’t accepting of their differences, because it makes their lives easier. . Not everyone has safe people to unmask around, either. But regardless of whether we do or not, we can all practice unmasking to ourselves. We can unmask by ourselves, and still mask around others to protect our well-being. . ✨ Taking breaks from unmasking is still part of the unmasking process. . Some people say that unmasking is really hard. Unmasking definitely isn’t always easy… but I think we make it a lot more difficult than it actually is. . Unmasking is about remembering who we’ve always been, and learning how we can best care for ourselves. Unmasking isn’t just about expressing our authentic selves around others, identifying our stress responses, and doing shadow work. . Unmasking is also about learning to give ourselves the rest we need, making time for play, and reclaiming our creativity. It’s about knowing when to focus less on our shadow, and more on what brings our inner children joy. . ✨ Unmasking is a lifelong journey that isn’t always easy, but it is one that we can learn to enjoy. . Some people feel overwhelmed at the thought that unmasking never ends. If you resonate with this, I invite you to change the way you see unmasking. What if instead of seeing unmasking as some never ending, frustrating project, you saw it as a life long opportunity to remember who you are? What if you saw it as a gift that continually helped you understand and embody more of your authentic self? . Drop a 💗 if you resonate with this!
