What if we could look into the future with a crystal ball to be able to anticipate how we want to show up in a certain situation? 🔮 Coping ahead is a tool that creates a plan, so although we don’t know exactly what a situation will be or the emotions that may show up, we can act in accordance to beliefs and values that we previously accounted for. ✅ EXAMPLE: It’s your bestie’s birthday and she is inviting all her friends to dinner to celebrate. Initially, you may think of all the ways to escape the situation. Then, you may ponder going but leaving early or saying “I already ate.” But then you remember that you saw this post and want to be able to honor your values of friendship AND recovery even if it means experiencing discomfort. 🌟 First, you plan your outfit that is comfortable and will give you some relief from thinking about how you look. 👚 Next, you look up the menu. You know exactly what you want to order when you get to the restaurant. 🍽️ Lastly, you plan on sitting next to people that you are comfortable with. 👯‍♀️ Coping ahead does not mean you will feel immune to discomfort. When I did my training to become a dietitian, we learnt so little about eating disorders. This was possibly because they were considered to be rare disorders. Well, this is no longer the case as we are seeing prevalence rates rapidly rising. The reasons for this are multi factorial, but we know that our societal ‘quest for thinness’ is a major driver, which also has far-reaching negative consequences for everyone. Let's talk about ARFID! ↓ I am doing a collab with @myplatemybusiness later this week on ARFID and body image (keep an eye out!), but I KNOW a lot of people are not familiar with this eating disorder in the first place (even a lot of health providers, unfortunately). À travers mes journées colorées, il y a des moments plus sombres. 🖤 Parce que le rétablissement n’est pas linéaire et c’est humain. 😌 J’ai parfois envie de boire, de fumer ou de restreindre ma nourriture. Believe it or not, je dois me battre à tous les jours! Ce n’est vraiment pas facile. 🥲 Je cache parfois ma tristesse derrière mon beau grand sourire. 🙃 Cette tristesse d’être différente des autres et de ne pas être capable de boire un verre d’alcool sur une terrasse l’été sans me déchirer la face. Cette tristesse de s’ennuyer de fumer un gros bat pour geler mon anxiété au lieu de le vivre à frette. Cette tristesse de réaliser que mes pensées face à la nourriture sont encore parfois irrationnelles. 💔 I still struggle et c’est normal. 🥰 Quand mes démons refont surface, je l’ai accepte. 🫶 Je ne laisse surtout pas mes émotions négatives comme la honte ou le découragement m’envahir. C’est là que ça peut devenir dangereux. 🥹 Je me pitch dans mes passions et je laisse mon âme s’exprimer. Today we’d love to acknowledge and highlight the wonderful contributions of Brittany Andreola who celebrates 2 years at Eat Love Live this month!  An Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Sports Dietitian and Credentialed Eating Disorder Dietitian, Brittany’s calm, client centred approach to performance nutrition is a breath of fresh air in a field notoriously known otherwise. Brittany’s love for nutrition and dietetics comes from her love of sport and cooking, with both still playing a major role in her life. Providing a judgement free space where clients can focus on rebuilding their trust with their own body’s cues, her special interests are sport, gut health, disordered eating/eating disorders, and preventative nutrition.  Brittany is currently working with North Melbourne Football Club in the AFL and Basketball Victoria State Development Program with previous experience at Essendon Football Club AFLW, VFL with Northern Bullants Football Club, NAB League with Eastern Ranges and non categorised swimmers. je n’aurais jamais pensé en arriver là, pourtant ça semble si facile quand on voit quelqu’un à ce stade de la guérison quand on est au plus bas de la maladie. j’ai perdu la moitié de mon adolescence à compter les calories, marcher des heures dans les rues pour brûler le moindre aliment ingurgité, à me scruter dans chaque reflet, à considérer normal de ne pas avoir mes règles pendant quatre ans. honnêtement, il y a encore un peu de chemin à faire mais je ne compte plus mes calories, je ne cache plus l’huile ou le beurre par peur que l’on m’en rajoute en cachette, je ne passe plus mes journées à sécher les cours pour marcher le plus possible et traîner dans tous les supermarchés juste pour «contempler» les aliments. une banane n’est plus le «plus gros fear food» et le repas ne se fait plus avec des rituels précis et des tocs, je commence à me libérer !!!❤️‍🩹 #recovery #edrecovery #edrecoveryispossible #ed #anarecovery #tcarecovery #anorexianervosarecovery #anorexierecovery #anorexiarecover #anorexia #anarecoverydiary

I continue to find it so bizarre living with BPD. Going from the depths of being so low/anxious and hopeless… to then seeing glimmers of hope and feeling positive… to being back down and then up again. But today has ended on a higher note than this morning. I’ve had a few tough conversations but it’s been productive and it’s moments like this where I feel incredibly grateful for having a place in this hospital. It feels like some work is paying off. Swipe for wieiad 💕 Hab so Muskelkater vom Sport gestern, aber jetzt gebe ich mir erstmal ein paar Tage Ruhe, bevor ich weiter mache. Heute hatte ich wieder das Problem, dass ich die ganze Zeit nur Appetit auf porridge hatte. Habe mich abends dann „gezwungen“ was anderes zu essen und habe mir einen großen Salat mit Honig Senf Dressing und Putenbruststreifen gemacht. Morgen trifft sich meine Familie zum Kaffee und ich habe gesagt, dass ich für den Kuchen sorgen werde. Also wird morgen gebacken, ich freu mich schon. Ich backe gerne, aber noch besser ist es, wenn man dann selber von dem eigenen Kuchen essen kann. i wanted to tell you a little snippet of my story… In 2014 my relationship with food and exercise started to become unhealthy. It became obsessive and controlling changing the path of the next couple years. Fast forward to 2017 over the years my relationship with food and exercise had gotten worse and controlled my life. I couldn’t focus on anything beside food and the number on the scale. I was later diagnosed with anorexia. That also came with depression and anxiety. Recovery consisted of many different doctors appointments a week seeing a nutritionist, therapist, and medical doctor. At that point I truly believed that there was no hope of getting better and kind of just came to terms with the fact that things got a tiny bit easier. I stuck with that as long as I could run and I was fueling enough to race. Even though I couldn’t stop thinking about food all the time and the struggle just wouldn’t go away. Then I went to college in 2019 to run xc/track still battling the eating disorder and had a decent freshman xc season but after that it all caught up to me. I developed a stress fracture which took the rest of freshman year then lead to another stress fracture in the beginning of sophomore year. i felt so lost finally healing one injury and going into another one. i didn’t know what to do anymore and just still had that feeling of it’s never going to get better. This time me and my coach decided it was time to try something different with my eating disorder recovery that i had always avoided doing and never wanted to do and that was to go to program for help. I attended a program called center for discovery for three months. Something i avoided for so long had changed my life for the best. My struggles haven’t went away and some days are harder then others but things do get better. Recovery isn’t easy. I lost 2.5 years of my college running career to my eating disorder and many memories along with that, but to come back from all the disappointment and pain to run fueled and better then ever. That is the best reward. Recovery is worth it I promise and you are stronger than you think💜 #edrecovery #foodisfuel

🌼 Lentil, mushroom and walnut ragu This was a combination of @deliciouslyella recipes as I wanted to prep a batch of meals and add a bit more protein into my diet with all the running I do. You do not miss the meat at all, and dare I say I prefer it to mince?!?! Don’t get me wrong a traditional spag bowl will always have a place in my heart but this is seriously good. The walnuts add such a great texture and the porcini mushrooms a depth of flavour, I subbed half the chestnut mushrooms for lentils instead! Je to už pár dní a stále ma to zožiera. Neustále sa k tomu vraciam, premietam si celú tú návštevu, budím sa v noci na myšlienky, kde som urobila chybu, či som niečo povedala, alebo som sa na ňu zle pozrela? Nič mi nenapadá… Minulý týždeň som bola u mojej všeobecnej lekárky. Nikdy sme s ňou nemali problém, chodí k nej aj môj manžel, no to, čo predviedla mne, bolo naozaj neakceptovateľné. Dokonca by som to mohla hnať aj ďalej, ale na to ja nemám. Úprimne poviem, nechce sa mi, chcem na to len rýchlo zabudnúť, nájsť si nového všeobecného lekára a riešiť moje problémy tam, kde sa mi dostane empatického a profesionálneho prístupu. Kvôli silnej anémii som chodila častejšie na odbery, a teraz nastal čas aj na preventívku. Takže moč, odbery, všetky potrebné vyšetrenia. Akurát sa mi to hodilo, pretože posledné dva-tri týždne mávam na dennej báze hypoglykemické triašky. Áno, je to spôsobené mojou PPP. Je to veľmi nepríjemné, no najmä nebezpečné. Je to v PPP život ohrozujúci stav. Hocikedy prídu na mňa mdloby, začnem sa triasť a musím sa niečoho chytiť, inak odkvecnem. A toto som jej všetko povedala. Tiež o extrémnej únave. A ona to celé bagatelizovala, povedala mi, že si za to celé môžem sama a mám začať jesť, prestať vracať a nebudem mať žiadne problémy. “Vy máte asi veľmi ľahký život. Máte ľahký život?” “Vám by sa zišlo trochu viac problémov, aby ste zabudli na bulímiu a hneď budete vďačná za všetko, čo máte.” “Minule som tu mala pacientku s depresiou. Žrala mi nervy. A potom prišla s dvomi zlomenými rukami, hodila po mne antidepresíva, že už ich nepotrebuje, že už vie, čo sú problémy. To by sa aj vám zišlo. “To máte 37 rokov, dve deti a takto sa chováte? Veď vy ste stále dieťa, ktoré nedospelo. To vy chcete byť chudá? Keď dospejete, potom sa môžeme pobaviť.” Na margo mojich zlých výsledkov krvi … “Toto máte zlé, toto máte zlé… No to máte, lebo grcáte.
