Growth comes when you get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Currently in a building phase. What does that mean? An increase in calories over maintenance consisting of balanced macronutrients to provide energy. This is necessary to build muscle. Unfortunately this means some weight gain. Not going to lie I’m completely out of my comfort zone and at times uncomfortable in my own skin. Though in clothes I feel great, I’m not stage lean which isn’t sustainable long term. So my friends this is my 50th year …. I know hard to believe 😂 I still feel 30 most days and not adulty enough sometimes. This year is the year of not playing small, saying yes to the things that scare & serve me, saying no to the things that don’t feel right in my soul, celebrating how far I have grown, enjoying the beautiful connections and most importantly being unapologetically my confident self. To celebrate this ALL…. I thought it was time to stop being small & overly humble and what better way to get professional brand photos done!!! And of course I made my design partner Kelly do it too! Last Year in My Forties! As I begin the last year of my forties, I am filled with so much gratitude. This past decade has been the most enjoyable one for me, mostly because I was blessed with the gift of motherhood to my amazing twin boys. This past decade has not been without challenges, as life seems to always throw curve balls when you least expect it. Am I right?!?! I had originally posted this pic in my stories for funsies! But...I also really like it! I look cute methinks; but MOSTLY I posted this as a reminder to myself that in this moment, on this day, doing what I do and how I do it, quirks n’all☺️I fully realized what value I offer in my work & for my clients who choose to work with me, of all the possible photographers to choose from, they chose moi. I didn’t understand why before & spent more time trying to prove myself to others, than just being myself sometimes. Now, I think I finally get it. Like, not being vein or showy, just realize that folks hire me, not just for my work, or my rates but because of me. Most of my clients become my friends. I’m so fortunate! I’m just being me & I guess that’s ok after all & has worked out a’ight. I’ve tried to replicate what others do, hoping if I got the formula right, I’d finally feel “legitimized”. I’d finally grasp the secret of success! Alas, what a Sisyphian battle that is🤦🏽♀️ 🪨⛰️I have learned the skills, bought the gear, reinvest constantly in my business & think I’m one of the hardest, hustling women I know, & yet, I’ve never felt “legit”. Now I feel 2-Legit-2-Quit! That good ol’ imposter syndrome always the b!tch on my back. This moment is my a-ha moment (cue Take On Me 🎶, Because, ADHD😅), that I was like “ooohhhhhh I get it now” just being my weird, awkward, random, curious, dufus,who is sometimes inappropriate-but -always-fun,self is what’s up! Learning that is enough & kinda special & people seem to like me despite the vile voices in my head trying to convince me otherwise. So the math-is-mathing but ME, I FINALLY understand the equation. 🤯🤩🤓I may be odd & unusual or feel as such, but weirdly comfortable just accepting it now. Like F all y’all who don’t like it! 😅 I am not capable of faking..my fave won't let me lie & it’s exhausting trying. I know that’s like DUH for most folks, but like, now I’m ok with it & don’t want to fight it internally anymore. I’ve found people like me & we are all weird together & I don’t feel so alone in that awkwardness no'mo & I’m learning I can & do shine despite those insecurities. Now we embrace them😌Soy yo!
It’s the end of Week 7 for us in the education system and holy moley, am I feeling it!!! It’s been a massive learning experience for our preppies this year…& they’re tackling their first year of school head on! Throughout all the challenges and struggles of those early days….it’s amazing how quickly they ease into the routine of school life and how far they’ve come in 7 short weeks! With 3 weeks to go before the end of term, I’m so grateful for a quiet weekend to rest, relax and recharge….my body & my mind definitely need it.
