💚 This is me and the Dream Team at Hampton Court Palace yesterday. 💚 We created a pop-up spa area at the @breastcancernow Pink Ribbon Walk so that we could give the awesome fundraising walkers some TLC. 💚 Wow, what a day! It was humbling to hear the stories from everyone who had gone through their own personal cancer journey or who were walking in memory of dear family and friends. 💚 We massaged weary feet and treated a few blisters and hopefully made the journeys home a little easier. 💚 My role as a Weleda Wellbeing Advisor and Holistic Esthetician brings me all over the country doing all sorts of wonderfully different activities! 💚 If you have an event that would benefit from a pop-up Weleda spa with mini treatments (hand/foot massage, facials, skincare advice, educational talks etc.) then do get in touch! 💚

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women world wide and many of us will have known someone who has had to fight this terrible disease, often times with limited options for treatment. Like most people in her situation Abi has been through every type of emotion over her diagnosis, but having two young daughters to look after, and the fear of missing out on so many special moments in their lives Abi knew she had to seek treatment that would not only best serve her, but also her children. After a lot of research and careful consideration for her own personal pre-existing health issues, she discovered that Cryoablation would offer the possibility to enable treatment without standard surgery and other cancer treatments. This is generally deemed as a less invasive option and in many cases results in less reoccurrence of the cancer and therefore felt like the right direction for her. This treatment is not currently freely available on the NHS in the UK and therefore Abi has started a fundraiser to help fund her treatment abroad. Do you support a charity? For the last 11 years, I've been the voice of the #pinkribbonwalkevents for Breast Cancer Now. The charity does an amazing job offering support to people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is a scary journey for anyone to be diagnosed with such a terrible disease but the team at Breast Cancer Now offers comfort and support in the most dire situation. Over the years, I've had the chance to interview and even co-host with the likes of Lisa Snowdon, Andrea Maclean, Denise Van-Outen, and as you can see from this photo at Blenheim Palace, John Craven. Breast Cancer is in my family, my mum and cousin were both diagnosed and had to have full mastectomies which led to me being tested for the BRCA gene. Although I don't have the gene, it's a thought that replays in my mind, what would I do if my girls were told "You have breast cancer". It's the unimaginable. This is why I support these events by talking, helping, listening, and engaging with so many who have their own story to tell. Some have happy endings, some don't. But every bit of fundraising for these events goes towards helping develop a cure to help so many. Sasha our field care supervisor and Claire our recruitment manager will be completing a walking marathon on 18th May 2024 to raise money for breast cancer. 9 years ago today was my final dose of radiotherapy. It was almost a full year from finding a lump in my breast to finishing my treatment. I had a lumpectomy & lymph nodes removed, 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 20 doses of radiotherapy. It was hard going through treatment, especially with a young son to protect from it, but I had my family & friends to support me. I thought once it was all over I would be able to just get on with my life again. I found that I really struggled, I was scared & I felt very lost. Breast Cancer Now are a research & support charity and they really helped me. I attended their Moving Forward support group and it gave me the confidence & information that I needed. On Sat 11th May I will be walking 20 miles at Blenheim Palace with a group of friends to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, so they can continue their amazing work. The Show 2024 💖 Last Thursday, 24 inspirational men and women, living beyond or with breast cancer, strutted their stuff down the catwalk, and they absolutely rocked it! 🤘🏼 Love, support and compassion radiated throughout the audience and there was hardly a dry eye in the room 🥹 It brought back precious memories from last year; the excitement, the nerves and the absolute euphoria! This is my 9th Anniversary, so grateful for every day. 9 years too the day that I heard those dreaded words "you have cancer". Caught by screening, which was part of a trial for reducing the age of screening, called up randomly, so so lucky, and I will be forever grateful. Thanks to the NHS, MacMillan, Breast Cancer Now, my family, friends and work colleagues who all played their part in my recovery and especially my now husband who stuck by my side through out it all. Always a strange day as I count my blessings, but also remember all my friends and family who didn't make it, thoughts also with other survivors and fighters. Whilst decorating our ‘special’ till today (more on that another time) I had a very beautiful lady come over to me to say thank you for all we do for our charity partner; Tickled Pink 💞 With tears in her eyes, this special lady told me of her own battle with breast cancer and how much it means for Asda to support Tickled Pink which in turn supports Breast Cancer Now and Coppa Feel. As I held her hand, I was told how she had been given 10 years to live and this is her 10th year since that diagnosis💞 It’s not something any of us want to imagine; like a clock ticking down… but I said she looked healthy and fabulous and she said she is doing well, despite some complications. Another truly inspirational runner from Sunday’s London Marathon, Louise Butcher, who became the first woman to run the London Marathon topless, having had a double mastectomy in 2022. Belvedere Community Champion Kuia hit the catwalk at the #BreastCancerNow Fashion Show last night 💗 Forty-eight-year-old Kuia, who was diagnosed with breast cancer twice when she was 28 and 30, joined 23 men and women with similar experiences at the event. Kuia is a big supporter of our Tickled Pink campaign which raises money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! The Breast Cancer Now Show 2024! Tomorrow is the @breastcancernow Show 2024! 1 year ago I took to the catwalk as a model in The Show 2023🐈. Prior to The Show I had been experiencing some of the lowest points of my life. Just finishing the active parts of my treatment, starting my next phase of treatments, my body had been going through 15 months of continual treatment and day-to-day functioning became extremely difficult..the toll of everything was starting to show. The desire to keep going when I had been ambling and quite honestly questioning why I had put myself through so much to be ultimately feeling so bad. Wondering if I would ever feel close to my normal self again. Being part of The Show, gave me a positive beacon of light, helped reignite my fight. I found purpose in delivering an important message in my speech. One that I want to echo far into the future. I found inspiration in others who had also stormed their way through the cancer mist. I think that all the models found a level of healing within themselves from taking part last year, for many different reasons. 1 year later, I feel like a different version of the person that stood up on that stage at the @sciencemuseum. Over the course of the year I’ve shed layers of limiting beliefs, overcome obstacles and embraced learning and discovering new parts of me that were inside, but I hadn’t tapped into yet. So many more positive moments have flowed into my life since that day🌈 It’s a privilege to be closely involved in the Show this year, not on the catwalk, but in the role of model buddy!! 🥰 It’s been lovely supporting the men and women who will be the models for tomorrow’s catwalk! 🤩. I can’t wait to be spending the day with them tomorrow both backstage and watching in the audience! I know how magical a day it will be for them and they will do all their friends and family proud on the catwalk 💕. . Cosy corners and corners for cosying. Starting my BSc (Hons) in Nutritional Therapy in September, 4.5 years. A long trip but I said to myself if I only had 10 years left what would I do? Get a degree as I left school early. I’ve had an amazing career. A trained Perfumist creating, running a freight airline from Stansted and Nairobi, living in Nairobi part time. I even flew the plane over Mount Kilimanjaro myself. Loading gold bars and race horses, plus some pretty normal freight 😁 I worked on a goldmine in Australia and a travelling fair. To finally running my own retreat and rental business in Ibiza. A trained Reiki Master and Reflexologist, mentoring women just diagnosed @breastcancernow finally at the young age of 52, noted I wanted to study again. Having had cancer and since a broken ankle, I will be eating myself well. Excited to learn about mushrooms in depth, and all of their superpowers. Trying to keep cancer at bay or maybe for it to not exist in the first place.
