I know I definitely have and then I slow down only to speed up again until I realize I need to slow down again. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Slowing down is hard to do in a world that isn’t slowing down with you. Planning and establishing a new routine will feel nearly impossible at first. In order to feel successful, it’s better to start slow: —Choose only one day a week to plan to commit to the slow down. —If that is too much, choose only part of that day to commit to. —Be consistent with your commitment to your slowed down day/slowed down part of your day. —Create a protective precious boundary around that time. It’s yours. T Day . . This is my first ever Tuesday without a child in 7 years, it feels a bit strange. I’ve returned home, made a coffee and just sat for a moment. Contemplating, rain-watching, wondering… I feel like I’m missing something and then I remember it’s my daughter 😂 . . Tuesdays and Thursdays were always our days and so I decided when she started school that they would stay as sacred days - T Days are about Transformation. So I’m spending this day journaling, learning, planning, creating - a time of strategy and creativity for my business. Sometimes it will involve learning and other days sea swimming. Long dog walks or coffee listening to the rain. I know the power of creative space so from now, these days are an investment in that for me, and ultimately for my clients because I’m sharper mentally and creatively when my cup is full. . . Right now it’s full of coffee 😂 and I’m childfree - sat with my dogs curled up and taking a breath. Happy Tuesday everyone 🖤

So I r had this shirt for around 10 years, it was a cheapo shop bought shirt, I cut the sleeves off and scrunch bleached it. But last week when I washed it I noticed some holes across the back so I decided to patch the whole back with some gorgeous fabric from @milliemoonshop that I was given for my birthday 😊 needed to pattern match the fat quarters. I attached the fabric using bond a web then hand stitched all around the edges in white then using a dark blue thread I stitch curvy lines around the cranes to secure the fabric better and to visible mending the holes. I’m super happy with how my shirt looks now 😊 hopefully I’ll have another 10 years wear out of it now 😊 #visiblemending #slowfashion #embroidery #chooseslow

Our shortcut to Beavers is getting a bit on the wild side! I’m feeling a lot of gratitude at the moment for these chunks of time we’re managing to hold open in our family schedule. It means saying ‘no’ to a lot of things right now (a second income, other clubs, sports) but it means we can take our time, eat our meals together, get places under our own steam and have little adventures along the way. When people talk about marketing what they are usually talking about is communications, one part of the marketing pie. Don’t get me wrong, communication (or Expression as I like to call it in Empress) is important and integral to your business but focusing on this first and foremost is kind of like starting a car in third gear. . . You need to work through the gears to get to Expression (that’s why so many people are talking rubbish 😂) and it’s because of this that Empress was designed with roots and relationship at the heart. We are so detached from our authentic selves as we are constantly controlled by the trends, the algorithm, the competitors, the thirst for growth… caught up in the chaos. . . When was the last time you reconnected with your roots and why you started your business in the first place? Less show, more soul. So here’s the thing - you’re probably going to show up to Empress excited and raring to go full throttle in fifth gear. I’m going to stop you upon entry and put you back into first gear.
