11 years ago an Oula Obsessed Coco went to take an Oula class at @whitefishwave. For whatever reason the instructor didn’t show and the class elected me to teach. I had NEVER taught a fitness class in my LIFE but I was an Oula junkie so I threw together a playlist. I’m sure that class was a colossal hot mess, but after that day I KNEW I needed to lead this format which had helped me through some dark days. Becoming an Oula instructor lead to my position of managing the Group Fitness Department at The Wave. This in turn eventually allowed me to bring an Oula Instructor training to the very facility where I first realized in my heart that I needed to take the leap into leading others in Oula. It’s absolutely surreal to be able to bring this full circle. Watching The Group Fitness Studio COME TO LIFE this weekend was pure magic. Witnessing those both new and seasoned in their Oula journeys let their guards down and step into their power was emotional and INSPIRING. Thank you, @oulafitness for giving us a space to use our voices, to step into our power, to come as we are, to be loved, to be seen and supported, for allowing us to play, and to never apologize for our confidence. I cry when I think how much you’ve helped me the last 12 years. Helping me remember my self worth, to love my body, to stand up for myself and to take up space in a world that is constantly telling us to shrink. Loved working with folks over at @wahkohtowin.harm.reduction via @newoyotina and doing some rock painting. As you can see we had a variety of talented artists who turned some stock images from stencils into beautiful works of art. They had the choice between buffalo, elk, wolf, bears, the medicine wheel, handprints and the face of an eagle (and always the option of doing completely your own idea!) and they each used their unique perspectives to paint them.
