Antes de Richard Donner, fue Leonard Nimoy (el Sr. Spock de Star Trek) quien había sido convocado como director de la película de "Lethal Weapon" (Arma Mortal). Sin embargo se negó a dirigirla debido al carácter excesivamente violento del guion. Finalmente el proyecto fue destinado a Donner, quien solicitó reducir un poco la violencia del libreto, ya que en efecto, el guion escrito por Shane Black había imaginado alegremente escenas de hachazos y explosiones de cabezas. Y la idea del director era la de una película de acción, entretenimiento y humor. Originalmente, este género no era del interés de Richard Donner. Pero el guion de Black aseguraría que su carrera se viera íntimamente ligada a la "acción". La película se estrenó en Marzo de 1987, y fue protagonizada por Mel Gibson y Danny Glover interpretando a un recordado dúo de detectives del Departamento de Policía de Los Ángeles. Con una fuerte apuesta visual y musical, la película resultó en un éxito de taquilla que con el tiempo se ha convertido en el clásico que reinvento los "Buddy movies". Now Watching: Witness (1985) In April 1984, an Amish community outside Lancaster, Pennsylvania, attends the funeral of Jacob Lapp, who leaves behind his wife Rachel and eight-year-old son Samuel. Rachel and Samuel travel by train to visit Rachel's sister, which takes them into Philadelphia. While at 30th Street Station waiting for a connecting train, Samuel goes into the men's room and witnesses the brutal murder of an undercover police officer. Detective Captain John Book and his partner, Sergeant Elton Carter, are assigned to the case. They question Samuel, who identifies Philadelphia narcotics officer James McFee as the murderer. Book soon discovers that McFee was involved in the theft of chemicals used in the making of methamphetamine. Shortly after Book tells his boss this information, McFee comes after Book and wounds him in a shootout. Knowing Samuel and Rachel are now in danger, Book determines that the best way to avoid detection is to blend in with the Amish community, working with them on their farms and helping with building a new barn. But the corrupt cops Book has exposed are determined to keep their dirty work a secret, and they come looking for Book & Samuel to silence them for good. “The Nice Guys” (2016) Director: Shane Black For: #themoviesthatmadeusevent from @framefocusfilm_ “The Nice Guys” (2016) is one of my favorite films of all time. I have been told by friends that if I ever directed a feature length film, it would be a film like “The Nice Guys.” I am still trying to figure out if that’s a compliment or an insult. 😂 This film is an incredibly witty action-comedy from the king of the action-comedy, Shane Black. Set in late 1970s Los Angeles, it follows Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and Jack Healy (Russell Crowe) as they look for a missing young lady, Amelia (Margaret Qualley). They slowly realize that there is much more at play, way above anything they could handle. In concept this film sounds like it was something someone dared Shane Black to make and he made it…and it turned out incredible! 😂 Gosling and Crowe bounce of each other so well. Their banter is on point. The actress playing Gosling’s daughter, Angourie Rice, was incredible. In her first major role in a film she managed to stand out next to actors like Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Overall “The Nice Guys” is a great film that I love going back to whenever I have a chance. I highly recommend checking this one out if you have not yet!
