💥 ULTIMATE TARGET 💥 In working on collecting a complete Gary Daniels filmography, I've faced a few challenges. This was one of them. There's a few movies that don't seem to exist on any official DVD release at all, in any region of the world. Including this gem, from the same director of Black Friday; Darren Doane. Which is absolutely criminal, because I finally found this movie to watch online for the first time, and I immediately fell in love. I freaking love Boy Kills World, when it comes to bloody, violent action movies, it's not my cup of tea but more of my chug of beer, I'd say. The fighting action sequences are absolutely spectacular, they are the frosting on the cake. Having H. Jon Benjamin from Archer and Bob's Burgers as the narrator voice for Bill Skarsgard is genius casting, he is the decoration. And bringing Yayan Ruhian from the Raid movies is the cherry on the top with a chef's kiss. The storyline however was decently good, and the comedy was great. Bill Skarsgard is just excellent with his funny facial expressions while having the voice in his head. If you love sick, awesome fighting choreography, and action sequences, then this is the movie for you. #truelies ist endlich in UHD erschienen, oder leider?! Ich sag mal so: es ist kompliziert. #JamesCameron hat mal wieder an seinem Meisterwerk rumgefuscht und mit der AI von #PeterJackson gespielt. Am Ende haben wir hier einen Film, der optisch nichts mehr mit einer Actionperle aus dem Jahre 1994 zu tun hat. Das Bild ist glasklar, das Filmkorn nicht mehr vorhanden. Damit soll der Look der Neuzeit getroffen werden, so zu mindestens möchte Cameron seine Werke jetzt haben. Schade, meiner Meinung nach haben die das nicht nötig. Der andere Punkt, der mich viel mehr stört, sind die Augen und Gesichter. Die Augenpartien sehen oft aufgerissen und unnatürlich aus, die Gesichter haben oft kaum noch Falten und könnten aus dem Kabinett von Madame Tussauds stammen. Eine Nebenwirkung der AI. Kennt ihr noch die erste Blu-ray Fassung von Predator?! Die ist dagegen noch harmlos. Dennoch bin ich froh, den Film endlich in der Sammlung zu haben. Wie ich die physische Veröffentlichung finde, erfahrt ihr demnächst wieder in Videoform. Hoffentlich sehen The Abyss und Aliens nicht ganz so schlimm aus, die wurden erst nach True Lies bearbeitet und die AI wurde dementsprechend schon angelernt. Action is balanced quite nicely by the story’s supernatural elements which gives way to a moody tale of one man’s redemption, replete with gore and impressive effects. Reduce dal successo di Bullet Train, David Leitch torna per dirigere una grandissima lode a un mestiere poco chiacchierato ma altrettanto pericoloso: lo stunt-man. E chi puo farlo meglio di un ex stunt-man? Chad Stahelski aveva già dimostrato con Jonh Wick che il genere action era lontano dall’essere morto. Grazie alle loro pellicole sono riusciti a dare nuova linfa vitale con una serie di film dal concept semplice ma dall’alto impiego di coreografie studiate. The Fall Guy non manca di farlo e, tra le tante cose, decide di segnare un nuovo World Record con un Cannon Rolls (ribaltamento di una Jeep, in questo caso) di ben otto piroette e mezzo! The Fall Guy è un ottimo film action che si diletta a rappresentare coreografie di combattimento interessanti seppur mantendendo un forte lato comico. Tutte le scene di inseguimento o scontri sono accompagnate da una soundtrack scelta ad hoc che spazia dai Kiss (si, I Was Made for Lovin’ You tornerà a farvi gasare come negli anni 80) agli AC/DC che vi faranno salire l’adrenalina alle stelle. Un film ricco di elementi e richiami, che si può definire una raccolta del genere action-comedy. Forse, proprio nel tentativo di rappresentare tutto queste cose, The Fall Guy perde un po’ un’identità propria. D’altronde, avere un’identità non era quello su cui il regista puntava, e quindi si rivela essere un action assolutamente da recuperare che sicuramente vi terrà incollati allo schermo. Boy Kills World (2024) 🎬 This film is absolutely bonkers, but in the best way. If you’re a fan of over-the-top, ridiculous action with plenty of humour and gore, then this is definitely worth a watch. Excellent performance from Bill Skarsgård, who doesn’t have a single line in the film, instead his character is narrated by an inner voice by Archer’s and Bob’s Burgers’ H. Jon Benjamin. It’s an interesting choice, but it works wonders and only elevates the overall entertainment. The narration is witty and humorous, even more so when doubled with Skarsgård’s facial expressions. We need more films like this that just embrace their silliness and double down on it. It’s a shame to see it’s absolutely flopping at the box office but that’s not surprising given how little it has been marketed. But if you get a chance to, go and support it! 😁

I am a massive action fan and grew up watching the classic action movies and this was a really good one. It has a good revenge story that revolves around a young man who witnesses her mother's murder in such a brutal fashion, so he grows up with that determination to get justice and make those responsible pay. Honestly i got a John Wick vibe, with some 80s action movie vibes thrown in there too and the return of the classic training montage!. They are such a great part of action movies and i love that Dev put it in, it was such a badass scene too!. Also i loved that it blended action and drama in such a brilliant way. It never falls into the over the top action or not enough action categories and is just the perfect amount. With the scenes between the action building the reasoning for it so well. I really liked the journey that we go on with the main character too, as you expect a John Wick style going in that he's just going to be able to take on everyone, but the movie goes a different route with it. Where it emphasises the training aspect to get him ready to take them all on, so when it comes you know you are going to see all out action and it was glorious!. I also have to give a mention to the cinematography and soundtrack, it blended together so well and really pulls you into the movie getting you hyped for the action sequences. Standouts - Dev Patel, he was brilliant in this role and portrayed the character so well, not just the action moments but the genuine emotional moments too!. Also the fact he directed this!, If you never knew going in it was his first time, you'd never be able to tell, it was directed really well!. Bottom line, a really good action film, with lots of heart too, meaning the action sequences hit harder because of the emotion behind them. Watch in Cinema. What did you think?
