The warmer days are going now, and this little garden friend of ours appears less in the colder months (our neighbours cat). . I'm missing the easy sunny days, where I could paint outside. But today, after a few weeks of taking it slow due to colds/lower energy/illustration deadlines, I finally pulled out the paintings I fininished this summer to view them as a group. Just checking to see that they are actually finished. . I've been dreaming of painting the last week or so.....therefore I know I need to get back to it before I feel too frustrated. . How funny to want to paint but not finding the motivation to get going - This amuses me these days because I know I just need to make one mark and I will be away - and it will be all I can think about. I had a great trip last week, but I must admit that it is nice to be back home. In just a couple of weeks, I will return to work and things will be even busier. . We sat & had our 6:30am morning coffee on the shores of Slocan Lake. I told Rylynn how I was born & raised here. I grew up spending my summers swimming, boating, camping & fishing on this lake... I spent endless hours with my family & friends making memories here. This was my childhood. THIS IS ME IN QUARANTINE. New blog post: The wind is blowing a soft breeze through my braided hair as I sit in my favorite wicker swing on our back patio. Our son is napping. Thank goodness for nap-time for days like these when I have a burst of inspiration to write. My favorite playlist is on with “Way-Maker” coming on at the precise moment of feeling God’s presence surrounding me. I sit in awe of God’s beauty. Over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed more crawling bugs and reptiles as well as the amount of birds we have in our yard each with such unique sounds in their chirps. I’ve noticed the crickets’ faint calling in the evenings to the soft humming sounds from carpenter bees and hummingbirds outside near our patio and backyard. I’ve noticed the small daily changes in our flowers as well as the trees budding and producing the vast amount of yellow pollen that has caused three weeks of snot, migraines, and some panic wondering if it was the dreadful Corona-virus. But as I sit here this afternoon on the eve of Christ’s Resurrection, I am reminded of all the reasons Jesus died for us! He died so I could be me and you could be you. He died so I could have this abundant vivacious life He has prepared for me for me to live here on earth. And He died so you can live yours! He died so we could step out in faith with Him and experience life to the fullest measure possible. He died so we could become more like Him and seep out His love around those we love and encounter on a day to day basis. He died so we could be FREE in this life of bondage and strongholds of fear and anxiety. He died so that in hard times we’d persevere with His help and His guidance. He died so we could experience His love and His healing. He died so that we can spend eternity with Him in Heaven. He died so that we could find peace and identity in Him. He died so that we could be the best version of ourselves and live with His view of the world and expectations around us. If there is anything that I have learned over 15+ years of living with mental illness, it is that self-care is important. While this might not be nutritionally healthy for me, it is feeding my soul.
