Isn't it amazing how you can unknowingly get attached to something....even a wild animal? For the past 2 years we've had a family of foxes visit a few times a week, mainly a mother daughter pair, but on occasion a large male who we called Daddy Fox. Daddy Fox was sadly found sleeping at the road side this morning whilst I was walking the dogs....all I can hope is that it was quick amd he didn't suffer. I'm absolutely gutted that I'll never see him again, never throw him a chicken wing and watch him scurry off with his prize, never see his face peep around the wall to check if we had something for him, never look back when walking the dogs in the dark and see he's following behind 😢. Yesterday was a very mixed emotional day for me. Last super long run of my training plan and I felt great knowing I’d have a 3 week taper coming up. My body and fitness felt amazing and I actually felt 32K would be fairly easy. Weather was perfect and I was on a high. Listening to #taylorswift #torturedpoetsdepartment made it even better At 16K I had to stop and stretch my calf as the discomfort I had felt earlier in the week suddenly returned. 4K later I had to make the hard decision to stop 🛑 I was truly gutted as I had been feeling so great but I know it was the right thing to do. Husband picked me up and we had a lovely afternoon. Went for a short slow recovery walk in the fields and enjoyed the sunshine. A few hours later I found my self in tears as my calf got so painful I could barely walk. It is bruised and I fear there is a tear as the pain is intense. If there is it is unlikely it will heal in time for my race in 3 weeks. I am gutted… Today I’ll try to see a physio, rest and ice. 2024 @londonmarathon - DNS ❌ After picking up a hamstring niggle last week I have been putting off making this decision, but after lots of rest and last minute treatment I have decided not to run 😭 I went for a test run this morning, and my leg was just not right. There was pain straight away and it just got worse as the run went on. I think I knew this would happen, but I was also hoping for a last minute miracle. It sucks and I feel pretty down about it.. BUT I have achieved so much this year already, and there will always be other races! It was tragically fitting that I read this during my quiet time yesterday. Manchester Marathon 2024 What a tale of 2 halves… Game plan was to not go out to fast and be chill. So the first half went perfectly to plan, came in half way at 1.29 and was feeling great but then at around 15 miles I could feel pain in my sole of my right foot which got very painful very quickly. I did the best I could but by the time I got to 20 miles it was all about finishing which was helped massively seeing @samantha_hoxworth & Harrison 🫶🫶🫶 To say I am absolutely gutted is an understatement as I felt I had smashed my training block. I genuinely thought sub 3 hours was a big possibility but to not to come away with a PB breaks my heart 💙💙💙 Time to reflect and then make a decision on London this weekend coming as I know I can just plod round and enjoy it but I also want a PB for all my training efforts. Manchester Marathon - what can I say? The short version is: it wasn’t my day. Official time was 3:46 so I missed my GFA time for London by about 1:20 mins. The year they dropped it from 3:50 (yes, I’m old) to 3:45. #gutted The long version: The Good - the crowds were absolutely spectacular! Thanks for the cheers, high fives and the encouragement, particularly during the last 400 metres. The Bad - the crushing disappointment. Training for months, running in horrible weather, heading to the gym at 6 a.m. on freezing January mornings for an interval session, running 30kms on Sunday mornings instead of spending precious time with my amazing family and still missing my target by about 10 minutes is pretty demoralising. Also my headphones died around 30k. Not sure if it would have made a difference at that point but I never run without music and I think it may just have given me the boost I needed. The ugly - the cramps. The tiredness.
