📔 Book Review 📔 🌟🌟🌟 Hmmm ok, there are some mixed feelings about this book. I loved the dynamics of the relationships between Lana, Beth and Jack. Each relationship was different and went on a different journey throughout the book. But there were moments when it became a bit samey to see Lana and Beth constantly sniping at each other I’ll be honest, I had clocked who the murderer was fairly early on but this didn’t take away from the fun “whodunnit” element to the book, particularly with how invested Lana becomes to solve a murder in a town she doesn’t really know It was an easy read that I think has helped to get me out of a bit of a book slump, but I can’t say I would put it on of my top reads for the year so far #motherdaughtermurdernight #ninasimon #summerbook #summerreading #whodunnit #funread #bookworm #bookstagram

Mother Daughter Murder Night What better way to improve your relationship with your daughter and granddaughter than by solving a murder mystery together! 🧚Life as Beth knows it is turned upside down when Lana, her mother comes to live with her and Jack, her daughter, discovers a dead body. Simon draws us into her tumultuous feelings with ease and honesty. We all love family, but know they are not always easy to cope with. 🧚 The family must grow into a new relationship, getting to know one another all over again. Drawing on the murder mystery shows they used to watch together, the slough provides them with a real life situation that teaches them to work together again. And to appreciate one another, for all the little things. 💫 I felt that some of the twists were unnecessary, and didn’t really redirect my thoughts on the murder. This was a pretty slow-paced book, and perhaps could have been faster. Maybe that’s the point - healing takes time. QOTD: Do you have a favourite crime/mystery show you enjoy watching? I’m not much of a tv watcher (unless it’s Bobs Burgers) but I started this show recently and I can not get enough. 𝑳𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈: My listening habits vary so much week to week but recently I haven’t been able to get enough of The Tortured Poets Department, with a little sprinkle of Bad Omens and a dash of CARR. 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈: Over the weekend I finished Mary Jane by Jessica Anya Blau and I LOVED it. This week I’m tackling two Libby loans. Mother-Daughter Murder Night is a book club pick for a mystery book club I’m considering joining, gonna knock out the book while I’m debating. The Great Alone is one I’ve heard great things about and has been on my list for a while. Still very much ticking away my TBR list and I honestly can’t believe I’ve gotten as far as I have with very little additions. 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆: Currently on a clear liquid diet for a medical procedure tomorrow, so I’m miserable and can’t wait for it to all be over so I can have food. I am a hungry hungry girl. Also slowly counting down the days until summer vacation. I’m ready to get OUT and do a little exploring with my kiddos. Marking down places to go and things to do as I anticipate summer break 😬

I loved this book. Cosy Crime is my favourite genre to read. A story of a grandmother, mother, and daughter all trying to solve a murder that happened close to where they live and work. Definitely recommend it 👌 #motherdaughtermurdernight #ninasimon #bookstagram

This was a fun read! It was also my first time reading a Reese’s Book Club pick, though that’s not the reason I chose this book. I chose this book because I was looking for an engaging whodunnit to keep me from getting in a reading rut after the intense cliffhanger of Iron Flame… and this book succeeded in doing just that. I was invested in the lives of Lana, Beth, and Jack more than I thought I would be. The red herrings had me bouncing back and forth between who I thought the killer was (and I was wrong each time lol). I was a little sad when the book came to an end, and it’s been a while since a book has made me feel that way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 (4.5)

Mother-Daughter Murder Night, by Nina Simon - @ninaksimon - is a treat. Grandmother Lana (Prima), her daughter Beth, and granddaughter Jack, become an unlikely group of sleuths. Partially because a murder is committed and they are drawn into the case, and partially because Lana and Beth haven’t been close for years. With an illness that pushes them together in terms of physical space, it’s the sleuthing that brings them together emotionally. Lana is a force to be reckoned with, Beth is much more subtle, and Jack is a blend of both of them. I so enjoyed these protagonists, and hope there is another adventure in store for them, and their readers. I’ve shared a screenshot of the book’s dedication as well, as it is lovely. Simon’s Acknowledgements reveal that her own mother was diagnosed with cancer, and that her illness was the impetus for the writing of this book. They sound like an incredible team, and it’s very good to know that her mom, Sarina, is continuing to ‘bring strength, love, and humor into the world.’ My mom and I shared a love of reading, and she would have enjoyed this book too, very much. #motherdaughtermurdernight #ninasimon

MOTHER-DAUGHTER MURDER NIGHT - Nina Simon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 A funny and lighthearted murder mystery with underlying themes of motherhood and family! I found this to be a cute story that made me smile with the complicated yet heartwarming relationships between a mom, daughter, and grandmother. Although the ultimate twist was mildly underwhelming and there was an overall lack of suspense and shock factor, the story and immersive setting (in a swamp-like area!) made up for it. Highly recommend if you like “cozy mysteries” and have a soft spot for mother-daughter relationships 🥰❤️
