Q. Do you ever buy multiple books in a series without having read the first book? What was your most recent one? Thank goodness it's the weekend... My week has felt a bit like the title of my current read! I am LOVING this book, which is lucky as I had bought this one and its sequel without reading the first one. I don't do that often, to be fair, but these were so stunning I couldn't resist. The world building is *chefs kiss* and the characters and politics have me hooked! I'm roughly halfway through this one and hoping to finish it over the weekend, especially giving the weather forecast looks like 🌧️ ☔ 🌧️ ☔ here in the UK! I've got the sequel The Battle Drum, ready to go but Book 3 (The Ending Fire) isn't out until September so not sure if I'll pick it up straight away. ☘️ Winston is giving me that face as he wants to play outside, my original plans for this weekend were all gardening ones but we'll see what the weather lets us do! 。落雨又有咩好怕喎。 「踢波先嚟落雨，唔通連個天都唔鍾意我？...」 不過，這說話似乎在英國完全不識用😆 近日到學校，學生要上足球課。 但天正開始要下雨， 老師看了看：「Oh 落雨呀，不要緊，帶他們到操場吧！」 學生們魚貫到達熱身、學習技巧... 雨越落越大，若在香港應早就暫停活動了， 教練與學生卻仍然很投入練習。 而坐在一旁未有參與的學生， 都移到大樹下避雨，凍得縮起來：「就快結冰啦！」 最後，雨勢大得連樹也擋不住⋯⋯ 終於獲老師准許，這班學生能先返回課室。 在訓練中的則仍然繼續！ 而且，踢球中的孩子大都仍很興奮， 很期待要來一場比賽決鬥一下！ 不過，並非所有人都是足球狂熱。 當中，有個文靜纖瘦的女孩見到部分同學回課室， 忍不住哭了起來，老師亦帶她回課室與暖爐為伴了。 在快速進行過比賽後， 學生終也回課室了。 雖然他們全都濕透，有部份還穿短褲短袖衫， 雙手雙腿都冷得通紅， 但都掛上了大大滿足的笑容， 邊圍著暖爐、著上大褸，邊雀躍地談論著剛才的表現。 或許，青春、熱血或許就是如此～ #20240425 #rainingday #readinginreadinguk #readinguk #readingcat #readingmeow #readinghkger #ukhkger #ukstyle

Și așa, a mai trecut un an, și am ajuns la 3 ani aici în comunitatea bookstagramului 🤍 Prin intermediul cărților simt că trăiesc multe vieți, cu multe fire narative, și văd lumea cu totul diferit. Mă teleportez într-o lume a frumosului, evadez din stresul cotidian și-mi reîncărcat sufletul. Și așa simt că o fac și aici. A devenit o oază de liniște, aici îmi aștern gândurile, îmi manifest bucuria față de tot ceea ce înseamnă lectură, mă avânt în paginile cărților si mă las purtată de vraja paginilor bune. Citesc și mă încarc cu gândurile bune de la voi, îmi iau inspirație din lecturile alese de voi. Księga Drzwi to debiut i to czuć, nie pod względem językowym, bo tutaj nie mam nic do zarzucenia autorowi, ale pod względem tempa. Bo akcja tej książki, jest szalenie spokojna i wolna, ma naprawdę długi rozpęd i jak zapewne już podejrzewacie mnie książka finalnie w ogóle nie wciągnęła. Tutaj spokojnie możemy uznać pierwsze sto stron jako wprowadzenie do historii, pełne niewiadomych i mnóstwa nowych bohaterów. Niestety nie jest to zabieg w książkach, za którym bym specjalnie przepadała.Nie jest to jednak kwestia tylko wolnego tempa, a tego że tak naprawdę to literatura piękna z odrobiną magii. Niestety, ja i literatura piękna pasujemy do siebie jak pięść do nosa, dlatego też w trakcie lektury byłam w stanie docenić język powieści i to jak przepięknie autor jest w stanie budować wspaniały klimat, ale nie potrafiłam się za nic na świecie zaangażować w historię. Nie mówię, że jest to zła książka, ale jest to książka po prostu nie dla mnie. Nie umiałam jej należycie docenić. Hello sundaaaay, helloo my happy readers 🤍 Vin cu o altă veste bună către voi, cei care v-ați înscris la bookclub, sau cei care vă doriți să vă înscrieți. ( lista e deschisă, așteptăm cu brațele deschise cititori care vor să-și plimbe aripile prin călătoria vastă a lecturii 😌). În cadrul bookclubului, prietenii dragi de la @librariaved o să vă ofere o reducere la fiecare carte a lunii. După prima întâlnire veți primi un card de membru, și pe baza lui veți putea cumpăra cartea cu reducerea aferentă, pe scurt, veți fi cititori cu acte în regulă la bookclubul nostru. O bucurie să văd că ne-am strâns deja câțiva cititori, și vom putea împărtăși magia lecturii. De mult timp mi-am dorit să fac parte dintr-un bookclub, și uită că acum organizez primul bookclub fizic. Il sabato inizia così: con due libri letti, cappuccino con latte freddo, piantine di friggitelli da piantare e un gatto impiccione. Beckett non mi ha mai delusa, ma con "il profumo della morte" forse tocca una vetta a tanti altri irraggiungibile: ti lega alle pagine come ti legherebbe una partita di calcio importante, come il risultato di un esame e tu lì ad aggiornare la pagina in continuazione per sapere quanto hai preso, come ti legherebbe quella mail di assunzione per un lavoro importante. Un corpo viene ritrovato in una antica struttura ospedaliera in abbandono, oggi luogo di spaccio. Il corpo è di una donna, ormai mummificato per via delle condizioni di temperatura e umidità della soffitta, ma a ben vedere a livello del ventre si nota un mucchietto di ossa sottili. Un titolare di smaltimento che ha troppa fretta di abbattere la struttura, una donna che lascia in stato di abbandono il figlio allettato pensando di riuscire a curarlo da sola in casa, e una trama sempre piu fitta, con colpi di scena e descrizioni anatomo-patologiche degne di un medico legale esperto, Beckett riesce a gestire tutti i tempi e le attese con una maestria spettacolare, facendoti dire quella dannata frase di noi lettori, "solo un' altra pagina..." e alla fine ti ritrovi con 50 pagine lette e 4 ore di sonno, ma diamine se devi sapere come va a finire. La bellezza di un giallo fatto bene. E poi il suo tocco da fuoriclasse, l'entomologia forense: tanti autori accennano alla presenza di larve/insetti in un cadavere, ma si fermano lì. Beckett descrive la specie, lo stadio larvale ed il calcolo relativo del tempo trascorso dal decesso e, fatemelo dire, da appassionata di insetti questa roba mi manda in brodo di giuggiole. Ah, il secondo libro è "le catene del passato", pazzesco anche questo, ma ho voluto dedicare piu spazio a "il profumo della morte" perché merita veramente!

Ponieważ zdecydowałam się nazwać ten profil „kocia biblioteczka”, to czas najwyższy spełnić te nazwę! Przed Państwem jeden z moich kotów prezentujący moją najnowszą lekturę ze standardowym dla siebie entuzjazmem. Natomiast muszę powiedzieć, że mój entuzjazm co do tej książki jest zdecydowanie większy! Powiem Wam szczerze, że przez długi czas stroniłam od sięgania po polskich autorów. Niestety trafiałam na książki, które nie wpasowywały się w moje gusta i oczekiwania, ale kochani, mamy to! ☀️”Żar” jest książką wyśmienitą! Z zapartym tchem przewracałam kolejne strony, nie mogąc się doczekać rozwiązania zagadki. Zostały w niej poruszone wątki, których kompletnie się nie spodziewałam. Tytułowy żar dosłownie wylewa się ze stron, sączy i nie daje o sobie zapomnieć. I nie żartuje mówiąc, że czytając było mi dosłownie gorąco, nie tylko z powodu bardzo trafionych opisów ciepła, ale również z wydarzeń, które rozgrywają się w życiu bohaterów. Jestem też bardzo usatysfakcjonowana sama zagadką i jej rozwiązaniem, co nie często się zdarza, bo dość często przewiduję zakończenia kryminałów. No po prostu polecam z całego serducha! Przygotujcie się jednak na roller coaster, bo niektóre zdarzenia są oburzające, smutne i po prostu straszne. Razem z Prezesem przyznajemy książce Order Kremowego Paputa, który jest bardzo zaszczytną nagrodą w naszej biblioteczce. 🐱 Pani Weroniko!
