Last October, I lost all my writing Clients. Here’s an update on my 6 month recovery journey as an SEO blog writer: - In October I suffered a severe spinal injury which left me in extreme pain and bedridden for weeks - Doctors told me to rest and that I wouldn’t be able to walk for at least a year - Naturally, not being able to sit at my desk to write I lost all my clients and projects during the busiest quarter of the year (year end) - Took a complete break from work to focus on my recovery - Thankfully, I started seeing great improvement after 3 months - Restarted my writing business back from zero in April by signing up new clients who have read my blogs, and getting back 1 old project that was put on hold - I am not fully cured, but feeling much better every day thanks to regular chiropractic sessions and low impact exercises like swimming and cycling 🚴‍♀️ Lessons Learned: - Unexpected events can impact your business, even more if you’re a freelancer - Taking a break to focus on your health is essential - Clients will replace you if you can’t show up daily - Consistency in blogging and social media pays off - Losing clients is not the end of the world, new ones will come your way I want to sign off by thanking you all for your continued support and encouragement! I learned "sunburst" effect and how to use the filter to make it look like a light is on in the window, with the glow. The glow also works well with words. I learned how to finally make masks work too. I spent hours playing around with that one. Now if I could make it work with font lol.. I may have to go back to you tube and watch more videos... Again. But hey, I'm learning new things that will make my covers and other people's covers pop. That's a huge milestone! If you didn't notice, I'm posting this from my website. Friends, I am solidly in nesting mode. We've made it to Friday - phew! Is it me, though, or has the last five days flown by? I feel as though I've packed a lot in, including a very special new project that is starting to take shape. What are your weekend plans? Tomorrow, I'll be doing my long walk to raise money for Cats Protection, then heading to my favourite local shops to top up with food for the weekend. Sunday, I'll be back in the office, catching up on the course I've been on, as well as working on Magical Mister Mishkins Book II. I had a fantastic moment of inspiration in the storyline for this yesterday, and I am excited to get it down on paper. For now, however, it's time to leave the office until Sunday, find a gin & tonic, and relax for the evening. This week, I made an impromptu trip down to San Diego to be with my mom and stepdad amidst some serious health challenges. It took me a second to readjust to driving on those SoCal freeways. The "little" interstate near where I grew up is six lanes in either direction, plus the HOV lanes in the middle. It's always good to go home, even if the reason is not exactly happy or celebratory, but I was also glad to get back to my evergreens and clouds and hoodie weather. I think my soul is from WA. Our neighbors are getting every last cent of their money's worth from their 12-foot skeleton decoration. We were delighted when he was incorporated into their Christmas decor, and now that it's February, he just wants to give you a hug, guys. Between Skelly, Ghost Rock, and Haunted Hot Dog, my nightly walks with my husband are never boring. 💀🖤 I have the most insanely busy February coming up, you guys. 😬😆 Regular job (with the best perks, like this hardcover copy of Hybrid in my hand 😍) + special projects + some freelance work + a friend visit + all the family things. નવ વર્ષ પહેલા આ પુસ્તક ખરીદ્યું હતું ત્યારબાદથી જ આ પુસ્તક મારું સાથી બની ગયું છે. વાંચવા માટે ફક્ત સિલેબસનાં જ પુસ્તકો હતાં ત્યારે કાલ્પનિક વાર્તાઓ વિસામાની ગરજ સારતી હતી. કલ્પના અને યથાર્થ, યથાર્થ અને કલ્પના...બંને વચ્ચેની પાતળી ભેદરેખા ક્યારેક મટતી જણાય છે. પ્રિયમ જેવી સ્ત્રીઓ આ સંસારમાં સાચે જ હયાત છે કે પછી એ લેખકની કલ્પનાની ઉપજ છે ? શું આદિત્ય સાચે જ ખરાબ પતિ છે ? શું શૈલરાજ જેવા પ્રેમીઓ હોય છે આ દુનિયામાં? આવા કેટકેલાય સવાલો મનમાં પેદા થયા હતાં. આખી વાર્તા એક સુંદર સ્ત્રી અને તેનો સંબંધ તેનાં પતિ સાથે કેવો છે અને તેનાં પ્રેમી સાથે કેવો છે તેનાં પર છે. શું એક સ્ત્રીને એક પતિ અને એક પ્રેમી હોઈ શકે છે ? શું એને અધિકાર છે ? શું પુરુષને અધિકાર છે ? શું એક માણસને બેઉ હાથમાં એક એક લાડુ રાખવાનો અધિકાર છે ? પ્રિયમ પણ છેલ્લે બેધારી તલવાર જેવી જિંદગીથી હારીને છેલ્લે મોતને વહાલું કરે છે. મને ક્યારેક આવું મારા લેખન અને મારી નોકરી સાથે લાગે છે. એટલે કદાચ પ્રિયમનું કેરેક્ટર મને સ્પર્શી જાય છે. હું પણ મારા જીવનમાં એ જ કરું છું જે પ્રિયમ આ નવલકથામાં કરે છે. લેખન જાણે મારો પ્રેમી છે. એને મળવા માટે ગમે ત્યાંથી, ગમે તેમ કરીને પણ સમય કાઢી જ લઉં છું. નોકરી જાણે મારો પતિ છે. જે અધિકારપૂર્વક મારા જીવનમાં રહે છે. એનું પણ મારા જીવનમાં એક મહત્ત્વ છે. એને હું તરછોડી શકતી નથી. ભલે એ મારા જીવનમાં રહે પણ એ ક્યારેય લેખન, મારા પ્રેમીની જગ્યા લઈ શકે જ નહિ. #mywayofliving #mywritinglife #kajalozavaidya #newpost #aftersomanytime #novel #madhyabindu #myreadinglife #aboutbooks

Por lo que intentará cortejar a la hermanastra de éste, Halley, una mujer diferente y que no le interesan las reuniones sociales. ✍️ Este libro se puede leer de forma independiente, pero el protagonista es uno de los personajes de El silencio de las flores, por lo que recomiendo leerlos en orden. He leído varios libros de la autora y me gusta mucho el estilo que tiene, con una ambientación preciosa en la época de Regencia, detalles de los vestidos, las mansiones, las costumbres y diálogos que acostumbraban. Es una historia con un clean romance ligero muy bonito. 🎀 Halley me ha gustado, una chica a la que le encanta la lectura, museos y siempre dispuesta a aprender, con opiniones propias. Al inicio me pareció que estaba más metida en su mundo, pero poco a poco va evolucionando e involucrándose en situaciones inesperadas. Aunque algunas de sus actitudes no me convencieron del todo y creo que debería haberse impuesto más. Sí que me ha gustado el hecho de que luche por conseguir ser feliz y llena de amor. 🏠 Timothy me ha descolocado más, creo que se ha centrado demasiado en su propia venganza e intereses. Le ha costado ver la realidad y sus amigos han tenido que abrirle los ojos. Destacar la relación con su hermana tan buena y amistades. 📿 Hay una trama de misterio a la par, me ha tenido con curiosidad a lo largo de la historia, aunque la resolución me ha parecido un poco precipitada. Today's #meetthewriter prompt from @bethkempton is an interesting one - what would my pseudonym be if I had one? Well, I do have one that I'm yet to utilise properly - @adelaide_halsey__author I set this up as my debut novel, Sandstorm, is a somewhat racy read, and then I published my first children's book, Mister Mishkins' Apothecary. While - like Beth - I want to own my own words, these are two such different genres, I had to change one of the names. As Mishkins is my own cat, my name goes with him, and so Adelaide Halsey is for my Storm Series. The names are personal to me - she was a real person and one of my relations way back - and I love it! As I move into 2024, Sandstorm will be republished under my pseudonym. I will, sadly, lose my brilliant Amazon reviews by doing so, but it is important for me that I separate my writing genres. ✨Well this was unexpected…✨ #meetthewriter Day:7 - Pseudonym task set by @bethkempton I’ve had way too much fun with this challenge. The problem (if you can call it a problem) is I’ve fallen in love my ‘imagined’ pseudonym, my ‘imagined’ book and I now actually want to write it! 😁 My thought process in creating my (at this stage imagined) pseudonym is as follows… What am I writing in real life? = A memoir What does a memoir involve? = Looking back / backwards So looking at my life backwards…my, me…my name… What’s my name backwards?…Haras Selwonk I ponder on the…’Wonk’ in my name - dictionary definition a person who takes enthusiastic interest in specialised details…yes that could be me 😆 ‘Wonky’ - dictionary definition of this = ‘askew’ = me thinking how apt this is as my life has always seemed a little ‘askew’…😆 And so my pseudonym was born…’Haras Selwonk’ I herby claim it now…if I can…will have to look up if there’s another! I wish there was a way to capture the apple smells in our little market.🍎 I love apple things, but I’m not really one to grab an apple and eat it plain. Thankfully, the rest of my family is, so I get to pick out a bag every week and they munch them up. They have at least a dozen varieties, with descriptions of each kind so I know what I’m getting. The one I tried this time was called Empire. Tart and crisp.😊 This market also has local produce, canned goods, deli, and milk and eggs, so I can stock up on necessities. If the kids are along, that includes trying the jelly samples and getting honey or maple syrup candy.😏 How do you like your apples? #meetthewriter Day 3 Handwriting I have a love/hate with writing by hand. I’ve been journaling for years, and the sentence “My handwriting is so messy today” appears in about 80% of my entries. But, since the Winter Writing Sanctuary, I’ve discovered that handwriting is the easiest way for me to get fearless words onto paper, and so I am now embracing my messy handwriting. I worked in pharmacy when I was younger, and the ability to read GP’s messy handwriting became a well-honed skill of mine, so my writing is a piece of cake to decipher later on.

There are so many things I love about THE UNMAKING OF JUNE FARROW, but one of them that makes me smile is the way it makes me feel connected to home. The characters love hard work, simple things, getting their hands dirty. They recognize that what makes a home is presence. Hmm, maybe that’s my word for the year. Presence. ✨Writing Update✨ I’m working on some character development today. Using K.M. Weiland’s Creating Character Arcs workbook. It really helps me to dig deep with my protagonist and understand them better. On another note, I appreciate taking the pressure off myself to perform. Doing this has only led me to burnout and I just don’t want to habor the same writing mindset going into the new year. At this point, I’m writing strictly for myself. Enjoying the world that I’m building for my characters and taking my sweet time doing it.
