#bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #bookstagrammer #instaread #bookish #ilovebooks #bookaddict #bibliophile #myreadinglife #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #boekstagram #readersofinstagram #booklove #dutchbookstagram #dutchbookstagrammer #instabooks #bookcommunity #bookreview #ingevanprooijen #waarisivy #thriller #koboplus #deverhalenfabriek #hannahreadsyearround

🚏BOOK TOUR STOP 🚏 BAD HABIT by Alana S. Portero, translated by Mara Faye Lethem Thank you, Partner @bibliolifestyle @harperviabooks Published April 23rd My review 👇🏻 I’ll try to find the words to talk about this book. It is about a trans woman growing up in Madrid during the 80s and 90s in which the night scene was wild and a whole other world in itself, full of the excess of a society that that until then had been repressed (and oppressed) for many years. The narrator grew up in a working class family in a neighborhood full of stories and these almost mythical women that shaped her throughout her life. In this world, she was able to bloom and become the woman she always dreamed to be. It is a love letter to womanhood beautifully written, with an Almodovarian atmosphere, in which humor and pathos coexist harmoniously, resulting in an aesthetic and sentimental product, sometimes cloying in the best sense of the term, that moves and entertains. The book is also about femininity and authenticity. Her voice as a narrator reminded me so much of La Agrado’s voice, the adorable trans woman in Almodovar’s movie All About My Mother, that takes the stage and gives one of the best monologues in the history of cinema in which she states that “you are more authentic the more you resemble what you’ve dreamed of being” And I like to think that Bad Habits narrator became that woman, that mythical creature that she always wanted to be. Highly recommend it! And last but not least: I read it in Spanish first and I can tell you that the translator did an amazing job here. #badhabit #alanasportero #marafayelethem #bibliolifestyle #booktours #booktourstop #readsbythebayou #myreadingjourney #myreadinglife #booksworthreading #bookrecommendations

📖Lying in Wait - Liz Nugent📖 “Lydia Fitzsimons lives in the perfect house with her adoring husband and beloved son. There is just one thing Lydia yearns for to make her perfect life complete, though the last thing she expects is that pursuing it will lead to murder. However, needs must - because nothing can stop this mother from getting what she wants…” 📚 Oh my god what a read. It was intense, it was gripping and truly messed up. It really makes you wonder what in the name of god goes through people’s heads sometimes. Lydia well and truly needed to see a professional because that woman was not well at all. Like she had a severely unhealthy relationship with her big old house and then the need for another child. The lengths she was willing to go to and expect her husband to go to… and think it normal or ok? How she got married in the first place is beyond me but anyway. You hear about mothers and their sons and toxic boy moms but Christ on bike this was a wildly unhealthy example of this. She had severe attachment issues. 📚 I feel so sorry for like everyone in this book whose life was affected by Lydia. Nobody deserved what happened to them because of her. I actually don’t have the words to describe how horrendously this woman behaved. I am actually surprised how Laurence didn’t have some form of complex because of the way he was treated as a child and somehow grew up normal enough like. But he did not deserve to end up the way he did. An absolute whopper of a read. 5 stars⭐️ ——————————————————————————————— #liznugent #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #bookstagramireland #bookstagrammers #myreadinglife #read #reading #plot #plots #story #stories #storytelling #fiction #nonfiction #bookstagramuk #booklife #readingtime📖 #readingtime #bookchallenge2024 #bookchallenge #happy #bookblogger #bookaddict #booklover #booklove

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by @tjenkinsreid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Slacking a bit with the reading this month with different plans and being away watching a boyband on tour 😄 and I know I’m VERY late to the party reading this! But what a book… absolutely not what I expected it to be (especially the reasoning why Evelyn knew Monique would think of her as a bad person, didn’t see that twist coming!) but I loved every page. I read Daisy Jones & the Six by the same author last year which I enjoyed but didn’t love, this was SO much better. Today has been a day. I was kicked in my left lymph node(under the ear) by one of the boys and I can't even explain what that felt like. Pain, yes but it made everything feel hollow. It was uncomfortable. Then the boys were just fighting me on everything. Flynn knocked their supper to the floor and made a huge mess and Bran has just been terrorizing me all night. It's not been fun. But then they started playing after supper and just giggling uncontrollably and it was just so cute. Ugh I can't. They're falling asleep now. I was a little worried that it might be a late night for them but they are proving me wrong. I'm hoping to read a bit of Draw Down the Moon tonight before I sleep but we shall see how long I last. I am hoping to finish it before the end of the month. Are you trying to get in any more books before May? #songofthehuntress #openbooks #mybookfeatures #reader #bibliophiles #bookstagrammer #bookishcanadians #flatlay #thedarklibrarians #bookishlove #bookishcommunity #cozy #coffeeandbooks #Bibliophilesandcoffee #bookstagram #readersofinstagram #myreadinglife #bookworm #aesthetic

#bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #bookstagrammer #instaread #bookish #ilovebooks #bookaddict #bibliophile #myreadinglife #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #boekstagram #readersofinstagram #booklove #dutchbookstagram #dutchbookstagrammer #instabooks #bookcommunity #bookreview #igreads #booklovers #readinglife #thriller #thrillerbooks #koboplus #demensendiebleven #lisajewell #hannahreadsyearround

-“I want to know everything about you,” Frank said. Cleo told him that she’d moved around a lot growing up, but her family eventually settled in South London. Her parents split up when she was a teenager. Her mother died in Cleo’s last year of university at Central Saint Martins. With nothing tying her to London. She’d applier for a scholarship to study painting at a graduate program in New York. She arrived when she was twenty-one. For her, that MFA meant two years in a smooth orbit from her bed, to a canvas, to bars, to oth people’s beds, and back to a canvas. Her biggest fear was that her student visa was up at the beginning of the summer. All 367 pages Cleo and Frank are seriously fighting about who had the worst childhood; whose parents are the worst? Death of a loved one, cheating, drug use, transphobia, suicide, alcoholism, addiction, death of a pet, self harm, domestic abuse, disordered eating. These lines: Danny and Cleo,Zoe and Jiro, Audrey and Marshall, Quentin and Alex 👀 Why overload the book with unnecessary characters? Omg. “When the darkest part of you meets the darkest part of me, it creates light”. Absolutely gross. This was not at all what I was expecting. Sometimes you read books because they have pretty covers or you see it absolutely everywhere on instagram. I took the book at library and thank’s God I didi’t let 35 $ to go down the drain. My mark-2 out of 5. And 2, just because of black British humor. Book Review: Within Arms Reach⁣, by Ann Napolitano⁣ ⁣ Within Arms Reach is a re-release of Ann Napolitano’s 2004 debut novel. The story, inspired by her own family history, centers around three generations of women in a large Irish-American Catholic family. Told through six different perspectives, we witness them navigate the gambit of life’s challenges - relationships, commitment issues, floundering marriages, pregnancy, child rearing, career choices, middle-life crises, and aging. The McLaughlin family seems to have forgotten what it is to be a family and it will take a “family crisis” (or two, or three) to help them remember. ⁣ ⁣ In reading Within Arms Reach, I’ve come to appreciate the author’s artistic development over time. In this debut novel, one can see the kernels of what we’ve come to expect from Napolitano’s novels - the redemptive arc of real, imperfect characters, family drama, the omnipresent pull of the past, and rich storytelling. In her writing, Napolitano demonstrates that the path to happiness is never easy and requires risks and an open heart, if one dares. ⁣ ⁣ I recommend Within Arms Reach to Napolitano fans and completists, as well as readers who enjoy a messy family story with just a touch of magical realism.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ TW: infertility, miscarriage, infant and child mortality, abortion, infidelity ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Many thanks to the author @AnnNapolitano, @RandomHouse and @NetGalley for the pleasure of reading this eARC in exchange for an honest review.⁣ ⁣ Look for it! ‘The rain woke in him, as nothing else had woken in him, all his feeling for England. It woke in him the misery of an exile and the longing to be home. It was a longing deeper, at that moment, than his feelings for the girl; deeper than the mere desire for escape; deeper than the war, the things the war had done, and the desire for the war to be over.’ Fair Stood The Wind For France by HE Bates It’s 1942, and Franklin, the captain of a bomber returning from a mission in Italy is flying through the night sky over France. Suddenly an engine develops a fault and he is forced to make a crash landing. So begins a story which involves bravery, pain and much courage on the part of French civilians. Although written in 1942/3 and published in 1944, this is not by any means a straightforward propaganda exercise, even though Bates was commissioned by the airforce to write about the war. In his novels set in and around WW2 he is interested in what happens to people when they are under pressure. What reserves do they draw on and where is their breaking point? All of the main characters face this pressure and Bates draws out their responses carefully and sympathetically. This is not a ‘Boys Own’ approach to war, but is nuanced and at times deeply moving. When this book was written and published the war was ongoing and the outcome by no means clear. So much of what we read in war literature is offered with the comforting benefit of hindsight, but this novel captures the uncertainty of the time. The characters are worn down by the conflict but they cannot relax, relying on a fragile hope of victory. This aspect gave the book an authenticity that is rare. It’s the second time I’ve read this book and I enjoyed it so much each time. The edition I have was published in 1949 - isn’t the cover picture wonderful? (I’m sure I had an air fix kit of this plane as a boy). One final thought: it only became clear to me towards the end of the novel that Franklin, though a seasoned pilot, is only 22. They were so very young… #fairstoodthewindforfrance #hebates #warnovel #ww2 #books #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #myreadinglife #bookblogger

Raised in an animated yet impoverished blue-collar neighborhood, Alana S. Portero’s protagonist struggles to find her place. As the city around her changes–the heroin epidemic that ravages Madrid through the '80s and '90s, rallying calls of worker solidarity and the pulsing beat of the city's night scene– she becomes increasingly detached from the world and, most crucially, herself. Yet through her eyes, the streets and people of Madrid are illuminated by a poetry absent from everyday life. And by this guiding light she begins to plot her own course, from Margarita, the local trans woman whose unspoken kinship both captivates and frightens her, to Jay, her first love and source of an inevitable heartbreak, to the irrepressible diva Caramel. As she forges ahead, she sets her compass to a personal north star: endeavoring to find herself. But with each step forward, she is confronted by a violence she doesn’t yet know how to counter; in this exciting, often terrifying, world each choice is truly a matter of life and death. Have I made a terrible mistake? 🫣 According to Stephen King himself, this is the most frightening book he’s ever written. I mean…that’s saying something, right??????? After reading about the fascinating discussion @melissau had with her son regarding #PetSematary I became (morbidly?) intrigued. I know the story, saw the movie decades ago, but never read the book itself. So this got me thinking…and it sent me on a hunt to find a vintage-covered copy. Now I plan to (try and) read it. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith🏰 This was a great coming of age story about Cassandra who lives with her family in a crumbling castle. I would say the cast of characters is eccentric but interesting. Cassandra learns about herself and those around her with the castle being in the background or a separate character that parallels with Cassandra. I read this book and listened to it on audio. I had many numerous favorite parts of the book but enjoyed the May Day description because my May 1st birthday. Overall, this has to be one of my surprises of the year in reading, especially since I did not know anything before reading it. Bina Nayak's 'Goagram' narrates the tale of Madhur Chopra, or Maddie, who flees the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic in Delhi to seek refuge in Goa. Maddie aspires to achieve fame as a fashion influencer through her Instagram videos. However, her path is ridden with unforeseen obstacles, leading to valuable insights and her growth as a person. I loved the entire vibe of the book. Who doesn't love Goa? The konkani brought back many memories of friends too. Bina Nayak adeptly portrays each character with authenticity, capturing the intricacies of a social media influencer's everyday life and struggles without exaggeration. From the vibrant Maddie to the kind-hearted Mrs. Coutinho, each character enriches the narrative, enhancing the reader's enjoyment of the book. One can actually see Mrs. Coutinho, Chaitali and Karl through the narrative. Maddie's struggle through various stages in her career are relatable, her pain so real. The author has put forward the unseen facets of the social media world in front of the readers. Through Maddie's tribulations one gets a glimpse of the ugly face of the glamour industry too. I found the end heartwarming. A very easy breezy read, this book got me out of my reading slump. A total entertainer I would recommend this to my friends looking for a quick read. Wishing the author success in her future endeavours too. PS: The glimpses of local culture and tradition of the Goan people is a plus point. Loved it. Thank you @harpercollinsin for the copy.

Book Review - Bite by Bite: Nourishments & Jamborees by Aimee Nezhukumatathil I typically reserve reading foodie memoirs for the summer, but I couldn’t resist Bite by Bite. Aimee Nezhukumatathil shares many of her favorite foods and the memories they evoke from her life’s journey. Each chapter of this collection is dedicated to one precious food - from mangoes to mangosteens, maple syrup to halo-halo. The author entwines the history of foods and culinary delights with her thoughtful reflections on life as a woman of color, family life, celebration, culture and society. Readers will also get a taste of Nezhukumatathil‘s poetry. Bite by Bite left me craving juicy cherries, sticky maple candies and plates of aromatic chicken adobo with a side of crispy lumpia. If you’re a foodie, or would simply enjoy a thoughtful memoir that’s not trauma centered, pick up a copy of Bite by Bite. Happy #teacuptuesday everyone! The weather today has been pretty rubbish, so it was an errands day. We went out to Square One in Mississauga specifically to go to Muji, not realising that it had closed since we were last there. Annoying. We try to avoid the Yonge and Dundas one because it's two levels and not stroller friendly. Ah, such is life. The nuggets really enjoyed the mall today. Bran shrieked next to a pregnant woman, which frightened her. Good luck with your offspring lady, this is your future 😆 I managed to make a bit of a dent in my book last night, I have about 100 pages left now which I am happy about. #bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #bookstagrammer #instaread #bookish #ilovebooks #bookaddict #bibliophile #myreadinglife #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #boekstagram #readersofinstagram #booklove #dutchbookstagram #dutchbookstagrammer #instabooks #bookcommunity #bookreview #igreads #booklovers #readinglife #roman #watjevanbloedweet #Philiphuff #hannahreadsyearround

My current read has a lovely map for #mapmonday I'm still reading The Last Phi Hunter, but I have about 150 pages left. It feels like being dropped into the middle of a wild anime and I am here for it. Does your current read have a map? I haven't much going on today. Mondays are for chores. So all I have accomplished is doing a workout early, doing a bit of research for our trip to Costa Rica in June, getting the dishes out of the way and did the laundry. This book is the biggest bookish hug EVER and I adored it so much. ❤️ Originally written in Korean, this story about a women who opens a bookstore in the aftermath of quitting all aspects of her unhappy life is so introspective and lovely. It is so wonderful to see the growth of the characters who come into the bookstore's orbit. This is seriously a must read, 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10 book for any book lover. How to Solve Your Own Murder by Kristin Perrin This was a creative mystery that involves the main character, Annie Adams, who is summoned to the house of her great aunt for the reading of her will. Annie knows little about her eccentric aunt but, finds out that she has been planning to solve her own murder for her whole life. I thought the plot was well thought out, and developed. The story had me guessing until the end. The books leaves openings for a potential series, and I look forward to reading the next one. #reading #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #myreadinglife #booksforme #busylifeandreading #mysterybooks #booknerd #librarybooks

BOOK REVIEW "Magisteria", Nicholas Spencer My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Goodreads Average Rating: 4.13 Spencer’s dense, scholarly account of the inextricably intertwined histories of science and religion through the ages covers some fascinating subject-matter. Nonetheless, I can’t help feeling that I didn’t quite get what I wanted out of this book. This is probably for two main reasons. First, Spencer’s text is very much a descriptive history, while I was hoping to have this accompanied by more of a philosophical debate. Second, while I read my fair share of academic non-fiction, I found Spencer’s text particularly inaccessible. It took me much longer than usual to get through, and digest, each page. At the start of each chapter, I’d be excited by the prospect of its contents, but would then emerge at the other end not really feeling that I’d learned as much as I’d hoped. Further, I wish he’d given more space on the page to consider the relationship between science and religion in contemporary society. The last few pages begin to grapple with some really interesting metaphysical questions at the intersection of AI and ethics, but unfortunately, this section feels very much like an afterthought. It’s possible that my failure to engage fully with this book is the result of poor timing or tiredness on my part, but whatever the case may be (and although I certainly enjoyed parts of it), “Magisteria” falls a little short of my expectations. #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookrecs #bookrecommendation #justread #springreading #springreads #aprilreading #aprilreads #newreleasebooks #newreleases #paperback #magisteria #nicholasspencer #nonfictionreads #nonfictionbooks #nonfiction #nonfictionreader #sciencebooks #historybooks #theologybooks #philosophybooks #bookstagramuk #nerdybooks #academicbooks #myreadinglife #slowreading #bigbooks #bigideas #readerforlife

*Gezinsverpakking van De Chabotten* Voetbal... Ah gatverdamme! Bijzondere mensen! Het verhaal over hond Bril raakte me erg. ⭐️ Maybe In Another Life 𝒃𝒚 Taylor Jenkins Reid 𝙈𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨; 💭 Had this one sat on the shelf for a while & decided to just pick it up. I went in completely blind not knowing what it was about. I absolutely loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo so had high expectations. I found it very easy to read, easy to follow as it followed the alternative parallel live of the MC Hannah. I love that concept of what could have happened, what may have been. I find the writing is simple but captivating, expressive and just full of something that makes me want to turn the page. I really liked Gabby & Carl and what they brought to the story. How they supported Hannah whatever choice she made. I enjoyed 90% of the book but did feel the middle platoad slightly & became slightly flat in storyline. But overall I throughly enjoyed it. Not a touch on The Seven Husbands, but i I did enjoy it and the parallel lives. How one little choice can change everything. Each chapters is short which is always a plus in my book! I’ll def go onto read more from TJR as I do enjoy her writing. I’ve a few on the shelf already. 💭 What do you recommend I read next of hers? @tjenkinsreid @simonschusteruk 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨; 📖 At twenty-nine, Hannah has no home, no career and no idea what she wants to do with her life. After years of different cities and jobs, she heads back to Los Angeles for another fresh start, this time with the help of her best friend, Gabby. They celebrate her homecoming with old friends at a local bar and, just after midnight, Gabby asks if Hannah’s ready to go. Moments later, her high school boyfriend, Ethan, offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. Alternating between two parallel universes, radically different paths unfold for Hannah and the people around her. Is anything simply destined to be? Do soulmates truly exist? Hannah believes so. And, in both worlds, she’s found him.

[b o o k r e v i e w] HOUSE IN THE PINES by Ana Reyes ⭐️⭐️⭐️ When I saw the title and the eerie cover, I knew I had to dive into this book. Plus, it was on Reese’s book club list, so I had high hopes. Opting for the audiobook on Spotify, I was so excited to start listening to the story. From the get-go, the story’s ominous vibes had me hooked. But as it went on, things started to feel repetitive, and I kept waiting for the story to progress faster. Still, the mystery kept me curious till the end. However, the finale left me feeling a bit let down. I was hoping for a big revelation, but it fell short, leaving me underwhelmed. I believe this book had the potential for more impact with a deeper plot and less reliance on tired clichés, like troubled female narrator with pill problem. Overall, House In the Pines was enjoyable read. It had its moments, but it fell short of its promise. Have you read this book? What do you think? Las Biuty Queens by Ivan Monalisa Ojeda (translated by Hanna Kauders) “Las biuty queens…show very different human landscapes and social surroundings” stated Pedro Almodovar in the introduction. I totally agree with the statement. The author portrays the stories of various Latinx, queer, trans, undocumented, immigrant community in a manner that is straightforward, and honest. What I liked about this book is that the author highlights that the characters are all human, living in different cultures, while dealing with the past and present. BOOK REVIEW "Selected Poems", John Betjeman My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Goodreads Average Rating: 3.89 Having come across, and enjoyed, a few of Betjeman’s poems in various anthologies, I was curious to read more of his work, and this lovely little collection provides a good introduction. While I enjoyed several of these poems, and I admire his skill as a poet, Betjeman is never going to become one of my favourites, simply because I’ll always prefer anguish and aesthetics to his witty, satirical style. He focuses often on London scenes, which I appreciate, but his fixation on Highgate becomes slightly repetitive, as does (echoing the complaint of a critic) the frequent (dare I say “lazy”?) use of church-bells to evoke a certain kind of mood and atmosphere. I must note, however, that Betjeman has an impressive eye for dynamic visual detail: some of his poems feel almost like filmstrips in miniature. My favourite poems among this selection remain the ones that initially piqued my interest in Betjeman, namely “A Subaltern’s Love Song”, “In a Bath Teashop” and “Death in Leamington”. I suppose they’re famous for good reason! #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookrecs #bookrecommendation #justread #springreading #springreads #goodreadsreadingchallenge #readingchallenge2024 #johnbetjeman #selectedpoems #poetryreaders #poetlaureate #britishpoet #20thcentury #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #bookstagramuk #thriftedbooks #secondhandbooks #quickreads #myreadinglife #classicbooks #classicscommunity #readerforlife #readergram #londonbooks #churchbells #booksbooksbooks #bookhoarder

Our Spoons Came From Woolworths by Barbara Comyns “I had hoped that they would give us a set of real silver teaspoons when we bought the wedding ring, but the jeweler we went to wouldn’t, so our spoons came from Woolworths, too.” This is a story that takes place in the 1950’s about a young woman, Sophia, who falls in love and marries a painter. The couple is struggles with poverty in a new marriage and family. Struggle and survival ensue. Sophia learns to deal with some tragic circumstances and finds love in the process. This short story was recommended by Ann Patchett @parnassusbooks and it made me think that this would pair nicely with a @persephonebooks or The British Library series of women writers. Yes, I am pleased I read it because it is a great snapshot of the timeframe. #books #reading #readingbooks #librarybooks #booksforme #womenwriters #myreadinglife #busylifeandreading #booksaboutwomen #viragoclassics #barbaracomyns

I received this German copy of Adrienne Brodeur‘s Little Monsters through @vorablesen and the publisher @rowohltverlag it is called Treibgut or „flotsam“ in German and I wonder what precipitated the title change because you could, of course, just translate Little Monsters but flotsam has an entirely different meaning - in relation to the book it is intriguing they are all in Cape Cod rooted there maybe stranded and Steph comes into their lives completely unexpectedly … What do you think ? How much attention do you pay to titles ? 🇦🇺✍🏻 DEBUT AUTHOR ✍🏻🇦🇺 Hi friends, Happy Friday! I’m back this week after struggling with my Booksta Mojo which apparently has temporarily deserted me! 😳🙈 I’m hoping today will be the start of a better patch… Burnout is real friends, remember to take those social media breaks!🧘🏼‍♀️ 💁🏼‍♀️ Today I’m spotlighting debut Aussie author Georgia Harper and her thought-provoking novel What I Would Do To You. It sounds like an intruiging and intense read, I’m looking forward to reading it soon — It’s OUT NOW! @georgiaharper_author 🇦🇺 #AussieApril2024 ❓How has your week been? What have you been reading/watching? 💁🏼‍♀️📖 I’ve just finished a buddy read of Beyond That, The Sea by Laura Spence-Ash. It was one of the most beautiful books I’ve read in a long time. 📺 We’re watching Sugar (Colin Farrell) on Apple TV and it’s fantastic! 🌿🥀🌿 📖 ABOUT THE BOOK 📖 “A compulsive debut for those who could not put down Dirt Town or Before You Knew My Name.” 🌿 A near-future Australia.
The death penalty is back. But if the victim’s family wants the perpetrator to die, they have to do it themselves. Twenty-four hours alone in a room with the condemned. No cameras. No microphones. Just whatever punishment they decide befits the crime.
🥀 Ten-year-old Lucy was murdered.
Through counselling sessions with their court-appointed psychologist, we learn the stories of her family members: Lucy’s two mothers – Stella and Matisse – her much older brother and her bookish teenage sister, who is too young to participate in the execution, but who has plans of her own . . .
🌿 Secrets and grief threaten to break the family.
As the execution date nears, already-struggling Stella remains adamant that she must carry out the punishment. But it becomes clear that if she steps into that room, the family may lose her too. 💁🏼‍♀️ What would you do? 🌿🥀🌿 🗣️ ‘From one of the best openings I’ve had the fortune to read, all the way to its staggering conclusion, What I Would Do to You does not relent. Surprising, ferocious and stubbornly full of heart. Georgia Harper announces her arrival on the literary scene!’ ✍🏻 HAYLEY SCRIVENOR, AUTHOR OF DIRT TOWN 🌿🥀

I loved this book. I wish I could have read it faster. It did not deserve the sluggish pace I gave it. Did I expect this to be the last book? Yes, I did. I just assumed duology, but no. That ending. I cannot believe that I have to wait so long for the next installment. I need it now! I am so invested in Lore's story. Will she give up her strong will to live? Will she lose her selfish nature that I love so much about her? We shall see. I usually find the second book in a series, especially if it's a trilogy, to be the slowest paced and a bit lackluster, but this absolutely was not. We finally learn about the gods proper, from the gods. I loved their story. I'm hoping for more in the next book. I’ve wanted to read #shogun for years! now that it’s been published in 2 parts, it feels less daunting 🤓 Just about halfway through Part 1 and it’s so, so good ⚔️ 👘 if you’re not watching it on FX/Hulu, what are you even doing with your life? When you’re done, pick up the book 📚 PS: can I please say that this may be the first time ever that I don’t hate the TV version of a cover? Look at that color! and that bad ass #Toranaga 👏🏻 #whatimreading #bookish #myreadinglife #idratherbereading📖 (don’t worry #anjin #blackthorne is on the cover of Part 2 🤭)

Drum roll please it's time to meet my next two reads. I finally caved and bought Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent. I've started it already and I'm finding it very good so far. I hope it lives up to the hype. Next up is Lisa Jewell's new book None of this is true. It sounds amazing and can't go wrong with Lisa Jewell. Happy reading folks. ——————————————————————————————— #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #bookstagramireland #bookstagrammers #myreadinglife #read #reading #plot #plots #story #stories #storytelling #fiction #nonfiction #bookstagramuk #booklife #readingtime📖 #readingtime #bookchallenge2024 #bookchallenge #happy #bookblogger #bookaddict #booklover #booklove
