The Cropper Foundation announces its open call for submissions from emerging and established, published and unpublished Caribbean writers across poetry, fiction, and non-fiction genres for a climate justice themed literary anthology Writing for Our Lives. Writing for Our Lives was conceived as an anthology of stories illuminating the urgency of the climate crisis for people and communities of Caribbean states marked by their varied yet substantial vulnerabilities. It aims to platform the implications for the health, livelihoods, culture, heritage, and well-being of the many who go unseen, unheard and, ultimately, unaccounted for at international and local levels of decision-making. Gender-Affirming nipple piercing doll for my “Drawing in Crisis” assignment. My problem that I was working to solve is the stigma and lack of education surrounding body mods (specifically tattoos, piercings, and gauging). To me; the best way to “solve” the problem is to educate and inform to make an effort to change mindsets about those practices being associated with a lower class and criminality. This is especially important because these trades originate from non-white cultures and sometimes/often serve religious, spiritual, and gender affirming purposes beyond Western culture aesthetic. During my research I found that most people hide their tattoos, but everyone deserves a doll that looks like them and makes themselves feel seen. Be fearless, be free. “Iran Unveiled” comprises photographic stills appropriated from an Internet-based live-streaming security webcam located in the streets of Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran. Following the assassination of Mahsa Amini by the Iranian moral police in September 2022, I have been photographing daily a live-streaming camera - freely accessible online - placed in a pedestrian area in Tehran, monitoring the constantly increasing presence of women walking the streets with their hair uncovered. The project exposes the dual nature of surveillance: designed to control, it paradoxically holds the potential for empowerment. Unveiling the vulnerability of unsecured cameras sparks vital discussions about safeguarding privacy and civil liberties in our digital age, aiming to raise awareness and prompt widespread dialogue. Beyond investigation, “Iran Unveiled” represents a celebration of Iranian women, their courage, and their revolutionary fight for Freedom. "Iran Unveiled" is the latest multimedia installment in the "Mass Surveillance" Project, a long-term, independent, perpetually curated, and investigative series resulting from a sustained, photographic and video-documentary survey of the thousands of publicly accessible webcams available on the Internet today. The Master, Esteban Diácono Argentinian motion graphics designer Esteban Diácono has made a name for himself producing slick digital treatments for his impressive list of well-known clients. But outside of brand campaigns, art collaborations and music videos, he enjoys spending his free time working on weird and wonderful animation experiments that he shares through his Instagram account. “I’ve always been fascinated by the human body, by kinetics and, above all, by the absurd,” Diácono says. “I try to depict the human body and behavior in ways that are funny to me and elicit a reaction from the viewer. I’m not interested in the quest for beauty or illumination; I just want people to react — with laughter or disgust, that’s not important.”
