Belfast is such a charmer of a movie. It’s a simple story and film, but beautifully told, with many great little moments between the characters and a superb cast. Caitriona Balfe shines bright, as usual, but all performers have great impact. I loved this movie when I watched it at TIFF, and my love for it only grew over the years.

La critique de Nick : « Dunkerque » est bien plus qu’un simple film de guerre historique ; c’est une expérience cinématographique immersive qui vous saisit dès les premières minutes et ne vous lâche pas avant le générique de fin. Réalisé avec maestria par Christopher Nolan, ce film nous transporte au cœur de l’événement éponyme de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, capturant l’angoisse, la tension et le courage des soldats alliés encerclés sur les plages de Dunkerque. Nolan utilise une narration non linéaire pour tisser habilement trois récits entrelacés : celui des soldats sur la plage, celui des civils britanniques venant à leur rescousse et celui des pilotes de la Royal Air Force combattant dans les airs. Richard Curtis, I LOVE RADIO ROCK (2009) DEA Commedia piacevole, senza pretese, buona per una serata in cui non si ha voglia di niente di lontanamente impegnativo. La commedia, che vanta un ottimo cast, gioca con i clichés del mondo rock&roll in modo garbato e anche autoironico, presentando un piccolo mondo galleggiante in cui la normalità è l’extra-ordinario, in aperta sfida alla rigidità di un triste mondo borghese impostato e perbenista. Plauso speciale ai picchi di grottesco che fanno crescere il livello medio della comicità del film, perfettamente incarnati nel personaggio di Kenneth Branagh. La colonna sonora (ovviamente a tema) resta comunque il grande punto di forza, capace di dare spinta a qualsiasi scena. 🍷🍷🍷 EDO Gran Bretagna, metà anni Sessanta: da una parte l’Inghilterra istituzionale, puritana e conformista di sempre, dall’altra i pirati della sottocultura proletaria più divertente del secolo scorso, che dal mare irradiano onde libere e irriverenti sul corpo “sano” della nazione - spandendo il contagio nel chiuso delle case e all’aperto, sui posti di lavoro - facendolo mutare inesorabilmente. Non ci sono regole e non c’è morale, sulla nave corsara: eppure si vive, mentre nei palazzi del potere e nelle case di chi lo gestisce si muore (perlomeno di noia). Il suo Amleto resterà qualcosa di ineguagliabile nella storia del cinema e il ricordo della sua performance nella rappresentazione teatrale de "Il racconto d'inverno" mi fa emozionare ancora oggi dopo tanti anni. 🎭 Unica pecca, la sua versione di "Romeo e Giulietta". Ma...nessuno è perfetto. Lo si perdona. Al di là delle opere shakespeariane, Branagh ha interpretato numerosi ruoli indimenticabili. È stato, per esempio, Gilderoy Allock in "Harry Potter e la Camera dei Segreti", il dr. Victor Frankenstein nel film "Frankenstein di Mary Shelley", Benedetto in "Molto rumore per nulla", Hercules Poirot nelle tre pellicole sul celebre detective nato dalla penna di Agatha Christie e anche regista di pellicole quali "Cenerentola", "Thor" e "Belfast".
