Film: Warrior. There are some movies that I can rewatch over and over again because of how masterfully they are directed, acted, and how they manage to grab my attention everytime no matter how many viewings I’ve had of them before. Warrior is most definitely one of those timeless films, at least for me. I remember absolutely loving it back in 2011, when I was in my tweens, and now, in my twenties, I still feel the same about it, even though it’s for completely different reasons. Back then, it was a testosterone filled manly fighting experience that most of the tweens/teens are into. After countless rewatches and one just last night as it randomly started playing on a channel and made me sit through the whole thing all over again at 12 AM, I can appreciate just how well acted, directed and heartfelt it truly is. Everyone’s performance is topnotch and Warrior really makes you care about each character and their motivations, even if it initially makes you root for only one. Warrior is a UFC sports, fight, drama film starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton and is written and directed by Gavin O’ Connor. It is a personal story involving the separated Conlon family. Hardy’s Tommy comes back home to Pittsburgh after a long time since his deceased mother took him away when he was a teenager. This was done so they could get away from his problematic, alcoholic and abusive dad, Nick Nolte’s Paddy, who used to be a Marine and trained Tommy in winning wrestling matches. Following in his father’s footsteps, Tommy also joined the Marines at some point and is an Iraqi war veteran, and you can tell this dude is not okay in the head and has been through some shit, keeping to himself and drinking, pilling and fighting his pain away. 1/3 (Continued in the comments)
