LADIES: I wrote this caption for you. 🤗 Gents, I certainly encourage you to read it too! As you may or may not know, I started an Only🪭s account. I had been thinking about it for a while, but it took me a very long time to actually do it. I was afraid. Afraid of the stigma surrounding the platform. Afraid of being judged, labeled, censored, etc. But I got tired. Tired of being afraid. So, with wonderful encouragement from the few people I trusted with my thoughts about beginning this chapter, I launched late last year. I am beyond happy to say that the experience so far has exceeded all my expectations! In general, the fear that kept me off the platform wasn't a good thing. However, one thing it did force me to do was slow down and really think about my approach, my purpose, and my goals with Only🪭s. I went in with my eyes wide open and my boundaries set; ensuring that I would be proud of anything I shared there. I knew I wanted to make my account about much more than simply sharing photos; so that's what I did. It's about healthy and safe physical expression, building self-confidence, empowering self acceptance, respecting boundaries, appreciating brains and not just bodies, open and honest communication, the freedom to ask questions and make requests without embarrassment, and yes, embracing s*xuality without shame. I am beyond appreciative of my current OF family. They are so wonderful! But there is something missing. Ladies, it's you! I want you to share the experience with me. I want the content I post there to inspire, encourage, empower, and support you to embrace ALL your mental and physical layers; especially the ones that society tries to force us to be ashamed of and keep hidden. I want your input on how to continue to improve my platform, and use my content to bolster women and educate society on how we deserve to be treated. Even when I am attacked, I will remain confident.” (V3) Whatever scary unknowns you may be facing, choose now how you will respond: Don’t be afraid, and remain confident. Why? Because as David mentions in Psalm 21:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” I love this! I stayed in Insadong (incredible area all the palaces, gardens, temples are walking distance, plus shopping and and food). My top suggestions are: 1. Cafe_Inner Garden: traditional tea house. 2. Beomnyeonsa Temple 3. Gyeongbokgung Palace 4. Seochon Hanok Village 5. Changdeok Palace 6. Changgyeonggung Palace 7. cheongwadae 8. Bukchon Hanok Village 9. Insadong 10. Myeongdong Street 11. Archivist (coffee) 12. Insadong Chatjip (traditional tea house) 13. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (love this festival is 5 hours each way from Seoul, however, 200% recommended). 14. Bukhansan National Park (incredible park with contains forested areas, temples and granite peaks. The three main peaks are Baekundae, 836.5 m (2,744 ft), Insubong, 810.5 m (2,659 ft) and Mangnyeongdae, 799.5 m (2,623 ft). I did Barkundae - wow). 15. Throwback: First days in Tuscon, Arizona. We arrived at our tiny white cabin, got our bikes, checked out the city centre, posed under some huge cacti and enjoyed ourselfes beeing free in the US for our big bikepacking adventure through the Sonora desert at @komoot womens rallye. MY LATEST VENTURE You may have seen me talk on here about the fact that I have started a band with my mate. We’ve been practising for a few months now, just the two of us at his flat. But last Sunday we had our first full band practice in a proper rehearsal room. I was so nervous but absolutely loved it and we even got a pretty decent recording (albeit just on a phone) of one of our original tracks. I’m so so glad I said yes to this, even though I wasn’t 100% sure I’d be good enough. I have a hard time believing people when they say they wouldn’t change a thing about being an amputee. If you asked me at 10 years old I would have wanted to change everything. I wanted so badly to be “normal”. I wanted to be fast and I wanted kids to stop picking on me. If you asked me at 15 I would have begged to not be an amputee. I remember crying and saying to myself I just wish I had a normal body for one day. At 20 I experienced multiple organ failure. I was in a coma and the doctors told my family I wouldn’t make it. When I woke up I was glad to be alive but I was so mad at the world. I had to drop out of college because of this stupid body. This stupid body tried to kill me, again. I definitely would have changed everything. At 25 though things started changing. I was working in prosthetics and working with kids like the one in this picture. I was encouraging them to follow their dreams and building their devices to help them reach those dreams. I was able to show them my leg and be an example for them. Now at 30? I wouldn’t change a thing. This life hasn’t been easy and this body still drives me crazy some days. But I’ve overcome a lot to get where I am. I’m strong because I’ve been weak. Brave because I’ve been afraid. I know I worked my a$$ off to be where I am. Postcards from Mallorca ☺️💌 A beautiful hike to Soller lighthouse last week for Ross's birthday. Not too easy, not too hard and very pretty. At the top we took in panoramic views whilst eating almond cake and drinking tea provided at the Muleta refuge...we are definitely getting old! 🤣 But we loved this day and it was just the breather we needed after a busy few weeks.
