Having recently been unwell and having to contemplate many life issues, one thing that I I've been thinking a lot about is... "What is Rest?" We all know that rest is something we need, and we all seem to have personal ideas about how we do it and the things we do to rest, but I wanted to understand more about what it is. This led me to realisation that resting can be a verb... something we do, but I believe that rest is an attitude. It can be a way to approach life, what we do, which in turn will alter how we do it. I can choose to be stressed about all the things I need to do, or time constraints, or finances, or I can come at life from a mindset of restful attention. Staying relaxed and calm, trusting and compassionate, being with what is. For example. I could go to a yoga class, rush in, push myself, compare to others, think about everything else I have on that day, maybe even berate myself for not working harder...or... I could go to a yoga class with an attitude of rest, of listening to my body, of choosing lightness and breath and noticing, maybe even taking some time out in shavassana or child's pose, not putting pressure to do anything or be anywhere other than where I am at. Rest then becomes a choice and a mindset, an attitude to which I can approach having a lie down, running a marathon, making dinner or writing a report. Would you like to choose more rest? 5 ans... déjà... Je suis pleine de gratitude quand je repense à ces 5 dernières années et tout ce changement. I lived most of my life feeling like I should “be there” already. I should have the house. The money. Debt-free. The business success. I thought I should be earning 6-figures. But I wasn’t. Projection is when we take feelings that we might not want to acknowledge in ourselves, suck as anger or jealousy, and we project them onto someone else. Projection is often tied to feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem. This is very common among bullies. If you are someone that is on the receiving end of projection it is important to remember that what is being said has nothing to do with you. If you are a person doing the projecting, try to stop and think about what it is you are saying and does that really have to do with the other person? Most likely it is within yourself. What is it that is triggering you to have a negative emotion? It is about something deeper inside you.
