When I’m bored, I bake...it’s a blessing and a curse. I made a Derby Pie and a Mixed Berry Pie. Both are EXTREMELY easy to make! Over the weekend my boyfriend and I decided to take the subway into Manhattan to visit Central Park. It had been ages since we took the subway into the city to do anything. It’s been a really weird year, to say the least. I started this account a year ago with the intent of hitting the ground running and growing it. I mean, how hard could it be, right? Super hard. Super, super, super hard. When I started, I went for it. I’d spend hours upon hours growing my account. And then one day I decided to take a break and was never able to get that same momentum back. ⠀⠀ 🖤 ⠀⠀ Fast forward to today and it seems like the bad guys are just trying to take hold of everything. It’s a weird headspace for anyone to be in. It’s looking like I’m going to start heading back to work soon, so I’m hoping with the change of scenery and pace, it’ll help reignite my passion. I love this account. I love the people I’ve met. I completely acknowledge that I had no idea of the work and commitment. I also completely acknowledge that I do have a knack for this and it would be a shame to waste. Now that I know the reality, I plan on...well, making a plan. The last time I visited Animal Kingdom I rode Dinosaur about 8 times. My boyfriend wanted to kill me but went along for the, no pun intended, ride. I went to the dentist for the first time in FOREVER and thanks to my lovely health insurance, I paid not a dime. And we’re back! The weeks just soar on by, don’t they? I’ve already had a pretty productive morning. I’ve been to the bank, post office and now I’m at the laundromat. One thing I so look forward to having when I finally buy a house is having a washer and dryer. There’s nothing quite like seeing a Broadway show. The butterflies you get in your stomach as they dim the lights, the music, the magic...it’s all there. My boyfriend took me to see Moulin Rouge and I couldn’t have enjoyed myself more. The set design was absolutely gorgeous and the actors were so unbelievably talented. One new segment I’ll be adding to my account and will be a candle feature! I am a huge scented candle fan. After a much needed break, I’m back! Between the holidays and being sick, it was so overwhelming. Over the weekend my boyfriend and I did a little holiday shopping and had brunch at Lillie’s Victorian Establishment. It’s this cute and cozy restaurant by Union Square and they’re always decked out for all the holidays. Their Christmas decorations didn’t disappoint...you should’ve seen the inside! After a delicious brunch we headed over to the Union Square Holiday Market. It was very crowded, which we expected. I got myself a cup of No Chewing Allowed hot cocoa, my yearly market tradition. If you’ve never heard of it, I suggest trying it immediately. It’s the most rich, decadent hot cocoa you’ll ever have! ⠀⠀ ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️ ⠀⠀ We also stopped at the Veselka booth and got some short rib pierogis. They were absolutely amazing. Veselka is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It’s a Ukrainian restaurant that has some of the best and most authentic Ukrainian food. I’m half Ukrainian so I grew up eating stuffed cabbage, pierogis, bigos, and kielbasa to name a few. Going to Veselka reminds me of visiting my grandma. One of my favorite nighttime rides is The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. There’s nothing like flying over Adventureland in a magic carpet, seeing all the lights and views beneath you. It’s truly a magical experience in itself that I highly recommend. A lot of rides in the Disney parks are better at night. Last night I saw Ain’t Too Proud on Broadway and it was absolutely amazing! The voices of the cast blew me away and the story behind The Temptations was mind blowing. If you come into town and are looking to see a show, I can’t recommend Ain’t Too Proud enough. ⠀⠀ 🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭 ⠀⠀ My coworkers and I took out biss our for her birthday. Before the show we had drinks and small bites at Valerie and after the show we had dinner and more drinks at R Lounge. Valerie has a very 1920’s glamour theme. A lot of gin based drinks and don’t even get me started on their brunch menu. R Lounge overlooked Times Square in the most picturesque way possible. As a New Yorker it’s very, very rare for me to venture up to Times Square. I’m only there when I’m seeing a show or when I’m visiting the Disney store. Looking out at one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world was kind of surreal. I grew up an hour outside of Manhattan and have lived in Brooklyn for almost 8 years. I’ve been to Times Square more times than I can count and most of the time I just see it as a huge tourist trap and a definite “no-no” zone. It’s always so crazy when Monday comes around again. How do the weeks fly by so quickly? This year, after much thought, my boyfriend and I decided that for Thanksgiving we’d have our own with just each other at our apartment. I’ve already made my menu and shopping list so that I can start to buy some groceries. I’m on the fence with brining the Turkey. Hey everyone! I know the last few days I haven’t been very active, I honestly needed a minute to myself. I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed and burnt out and it was nice to just take a day or so to relax and not think about Instagram or anything. Between the drinks, food and atmosphere you feel like you’re right in the middle of an Indiana Jones movie. When I was there I got the Anything Goes cocktail. So that was really he only think I didn’t like, kind of a petty reason. I don’t know about you but I’m waiting anxiously for a Coco overhaul to the Mexico Pavilion. Coco is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies ever. It’s such an amazing story about family, dreams and acceptance. 3 things that definitely hit close to home. Just a couple of drink from Pandora! I was absolutely in love with the Mo’ara Margarita and the Hawkes Grog Ale. These were easily 2 of my favorite drinks during my time at Disney World. It was the first time I had ever gotten drinks in Pandora and they didn’t disappoint. I highly recommend both of these if you’re having trouble deciding what you’d like. 🍹In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room 🍹 ⠀⠀ On my most recent trip to Disney World experienced the Enchanted Tiki Room for the first time. Out of the 20+ times I’ve been to Disney I still can’t believe that I hadn’t been in the Tiki room. It was definitely a fun experience but I feel like it’s not something I would visit every time I go to Disney. Maybe something I would go see every other time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really cute and everyone knows I love a good Tiki party but I honestly can’t see myself really enjoying it EVERY time. Though, I do ALWAYS make it a point to visit Trader Sams. Currently wishing that I could smell that sweet smell of the Confectionary on Main Street. That cotton candy, caramel, chocolate smell that I desperately wish they would make into a perfume one of these days. There’s no smell quite like it.
