🎶 I had a dream 🎶 to train and finish a RunDisney 5k. I'm not a cardio girly, and so many times I have said I can't. But going into 2023 I picked the word strength. I wanted to find mine again. Woooo.. what a weekend! Hands down the best race I’ve ever ran ~ it was SO MUCH FUN!! ✨ and so magical! Although I didn’t really appreciate having to wake up at 3.15am to be ready to be in position for 5am 😒 BUT it was totally worth it! I’m also really proud of myself for doing this race aswell. I’d got sick before hand and I didn’t train for this race, and still got a PB. It’s amazing what you can push your body to do when you need to! I already can’t wait to sign up for more RunDisney events!! ✨👟💗 The whole experience was so magical and so amazing, and well organized. I didn’t want to keep getting my phone in and out of my little bag so I didn’t manage to record a lot of the race… but they have screens showing characters, and music, the characters are there and not just the princesses.. you can take photos with them if you want, so much entertainment. I didn’t run with headphones and you don’t need to. The queen of hearts and the Evil Queen from Snow White where there! There was a white Hummer blasting pop tunes. Disney music is played aswell obviously! Mc’s along the way. And of course you get to run through Main Street and the castle! And finishing back at Epcot. There was a marching band! And a Gospel Choir! and fireworks 💥 to start the race! Today is also National Best Friend Day and I am so lucky that I married mine. We have been through so much over the last almost 11 years of marriage and you have always been right there for me and I truly wouldn’t want it any other way. Still in awe that I actually did a half marathon. It was not easy and definitely more mentally draining than I planned for, but it is a start. I saw a woman in the course wearing. A shirt that said dead last finisher > did not finish > did not start. I kept telling myself as I was pushing through, all you have to do is finish and you will be a winner. Sometimes my competitive nature makes me think that I have to try and be the best or finish in a certain place. What I have learned from starting to run is that the only person you are competing against is yourself. Half the battle of running is your mental strength. It’s been well over a week since Wine & Dine and I’m still overwhelmed with all the emotions every time I see my medal. It was my first 5K after all. Every emotion was had during the race from seeing everyone running/walking, to the Cast Members on the sidelines, the monorail overhead that honked at us, and even the rain (yep…that too). A quick little video I did about why I decided to do this Run Disney half marathon. It was a random decision but I am so excited about it and look forward to the journey leading up to Disney marathon weekend. Run the race 🏃🏽♀️ Earn the medal 🏅 Recover 🧘🏼♀️💆🏼♀️🧖🏼♀️ . Proper recovery from running is SO IMPORTANT for people with autoimmune diseases. It is easy to get caught in a runner’s high and want to do what everyone else is doing, but our bodies are not like everyone else’s bodies. . My @garminfitness recovery advisor suggested 3 *days* to recover from the #DisneyPrincessHalfMarathon on Sunday, based on my heart rate, VO2 Max estimate, and my previous fitness level. And that’s exactly what I did! . Recovery for me is both physical and mental. I went for walks, foam rolled, stretched, and practiced deep breathing... and hit up the beach of course 🏝 All while hydrating! Gotta put back in what I take out!

Some may find it odd that we chose running a half marathon as a way to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. We don’t. We have been training hard, pushing each other to meet our goals, cheering each other on, and keeping each other accountable. Isn’t that what marriage is all about? It's been 1 week since I participated in my first RunDisney race, the Princess Half Marathon and I can't wait to do Princess again next year and do not just the 5K and 10K but the Half Marathon too. I'm almost fully recovered from last weekend and my blisters on my feet are nearly healed. Gonna start training for Wine & Dine 2018 next week.
