Little Ed a couple weeks ago digging a space for our fig tree ☺️ and he’s the whole reason I get to live out my gardening pursuits. The other two boys, although don’t mind getting stuck in, aren’t as passionate about gardening or the outdoors as Ed. ~ DET VÅRAS FÖR VÅREN ~ Dagen har bjudit på något extremt humörsvängigt väder med både regn och solsken. Vi svängde förbi Blomsterlandet och där köpte jag en Hängsälg, vit Doftpion och Lavendel som sattes ned i rabatt på studs, våren kommer ju på måndag 🙈😍 (Tipsar om att Blomsterlandet har 20% på alla perenner just nu) Passade även på att rensa bort ogräs i rabatter och skapade en ny rabatt där våra 3 plantor av blåbärstry skall få växa upp tillsammans 🫐 Imorgon skall vi skapa snygga rabattkanter till den nya rabatten och så ska vi så lite "popcorngräs" med barnen, tycker dessa plantor blir roliga och ger ett trevligt uttryck!🍿 Detta år har jag verkligen insett att jag börjat så gurkan lite för tidigt då vissa av plantorna redan ger små blommor trots att själva plantan är knappt 2 DM hög. Volunteer Swiss Chard (along with many many weeds) are all over the greenhouse, self seeded from last year. 🌱 What we are noticing is that there is a new resident bunny (identified by its droppings) setting up shop in the greenhouse and eating the Swiss Chard and dandelions right down to the ground. So instead of pulling these up from where they don’t belong, we will embrace the disorganization and some of the weeds, to keep the rabbits distracted from our intentionally planted greens. 🐰

Schönen Samstag, ihr Lieben! Nachdem es hier schon losgeht, daß die großen Sorten (aka Fleischtomaten) Königsblüten bilden werd ich jetzt wieder wie jedes Jahr zum Mörder 🙈 Ab mit der Blüte! Und warum mach ich das? Die Königsblüte ist die erste und eine extra große Blüte, die eine extra große und oft besonders ausgeprägte/ ausgeformte Frucht ausbildet. Dazu verbraucht die Pflanze allerdings auch extra viel Power und extra viele Ressourcen. Gerade in diesem Stadium möchte ich das noch nicht! Die Pflanze soll sich erstmal noch darauf konzentrieren weiter zu wachsen und mehr Fruchtstände auszubilden. Und wie erkennt ihr sie, diese Königsblüte? Beobachtet eure Pflänzchen einfach, die Königsblüte ist im Gegensatz zu den anderen Blütenständen deutlich knubbeliger und größer! Und dann entscheidet euch... In fact, I have kill just about every plant I own 😆 I used to tease my mom about her jungle of plants, calling her the “plant lady.” But recently, something shifted. Garden Strawberries~ 🍃🍓🍃 The last of the summer strawberries! Frozen fresh after picking in late July/early August. Really touched after reading yesterday’s lovely post by Leigh @the_victorian_cottage about making his great grandmother’s soup. Such lovely memories. Thought about making my grandmother’s strawberry bread. It’s how she won my grandfathers heart.
