Journaling out loud entries 15&16: Last week I posted about how we all deal with things when life gets tough, how we help ourselves and others to get through it. This week my journal entries are about how everyone is effected differently by things and events that happen. For different events that have happened in my life, both that people have and have not been fully aware of, people have formed assumptions and sometimes used those assumptions to judge me, the situation or other people involved. At least that's how it felt. The events that have happened in my life are very personal to me and it can be upsetting and frustrating to have someone form an opinion about me, my abilities or someone I care about, especially when they don't have their facts straight or they're just simply not the one who went through it. Whether you have gone through something traumatic or you've had those days when you just feel tired and it feels like someone passed judgement on you, I'm sure you can relate. My "why not sooner" journal entry is what I imagine that every person, parent, friend thinks about and/or asks their loved ones once they find out something happened. From my perspective, people on the outside, looking in, seem to wonder about themselves and what they may have done wrong if/when they're not in the loop or asked for support. I think it's usually more about the person going through it vs the people they don't end up approaching during that time. A simple example of what everyone might relate to is when you go out to an event in general and you're more focused on yourself vs others with what you're wearing, what you're saying, how you're acting or reacting, etc. Usually what I remember most is what I wore, what I didn't or shouldn't have said, how I felt during the event, etc. and those are natural thoughts that aren't always expressed. I feel anxious on a regular basis and it can be hard to verbalize those "normal" thoughts and feelings. When it comes to bigger things that aren't normal, imagine how much harder it can be to verbalize any of that. Showers...❤️❤️❤️ Fast, Cold, and under 5 minutes!! "Water, we need to save water," he would say. It worked, it was a great excuse. To watch. Up until a few years ago those words would ring through my mind almost every shower. It does something to you, to be watched in your private moments. Your body gets tense, you do not get to enjoy what should be a relaxing moment. A shower, a time to cleanse your body, wash the stress away. A baptism in a sense!! No, when he watches it feels gross. I hate it. I wish I never had to shower, but I do and so in my childhood for several years I lived under the abuse of,"the man of the house." (a step-parent) Watching me, watching all parts of my body. I had no private moments. For many, many years that was taken from me, so I thought. But I changed that, I have taken the time to heal from that traumatic experience. In the mornings ,as a child, I was made to get into the shower and wash my hair and body within 5 minutes. A timer is set!! A race against time!! While he watched... If I wasn't fast enough I would receive cold water and a crack on the ass. I remember crying alone after many of these showers. One of several abuses. I hated it!! But now, now... I enjoy, I take my time and I have peace when I shower!! That baptism is important!! By no means is healing easy but it is worth it. Worth regaining happiness, and parts of yourself that were thought to be forever lost!! Through healing myself, I am now able to help others. Through forgiveness I am the only one in control of my happiness. And this person is still out and about, and may even see this. May even get a kick out of it. Who knows, and who cares. For there is no more bad energy related to,"showers." I pray for thee. Last night was my first time writing!! So I wanted to share!!
