Leroy was flawed, but the Ponsot mag drank incredibly well. No flaws from flawed vintage, sophisticated nose, perfectly integrated silky tannins, dark fruits and chocolatey spices backed by complex structure. Dujac was powerful and concentrated, dark and broody, plenty of finesse but visible tannins—will need at least five more years. RC Lemaire’s tete ‘07, relatively unknown but a favorite of mine. Every time I’ve had this, I’ve thought “Who needs Krug?” Side by side, I guess I still need the Krug. Bruno Clair ‘99 CSJ, grand cru pedigree. Prieur was past its drinking window, though the same bottle I opened 8 mo ago was alive and well. Ente, even the Aligoté has his signature on it, I always find this more chard-like in texture and finish. Corton Bressandes 2014 de #jacquesprieur : un vin étonnant par sa puissance dans ce millésime parfois un peu rêche et dilué qui a donné des #corton austères ou alors un peu fluide…enfin du moins ceux que j’avais dégusté jusque là. Celui-ci est un peu trop marqué par un boisé à la chauffe saillante qui le « sucre » un peu mais en revanche on retrouve toute la race sombre d’un cru épicé à souhait qui oscille entre fermeté de la bouche et douceur tactile de la finale. Un Corton sérieux et encore bien jeune qui a été sans nul doute pensé pour vieillir harmonieusement et qui s’ouvre à peine. Si vous en avez…patientez encore quelques années. Très bien.

Concentrated black fruits and solid tannins while also showing a beautiful velvet texture that will develop into a sumptuous wine. The length is super long, and this wine is built for the long haul. The good thing about Prieur is that no other domain in Burgundy give you access to such a large number of the most prestigious appellation in Burgundy at such “reasonable” price. The bad thing about Prieur is that their wines are often unworthy their prestigious pedigree. At least for my personal taste! Indeed, I often find them generously oaky, as a smokescreen to hide dilution. Especially their whites! This 1996 Perrieres is no exception: generous but monolithic flavors of smoked wood! Some guest around the table loved it. But to me, the taste wasn’t due to the (great!) terroir, but to the decomposition of the original oak that could not get integrated into the deficient structure of the wine. #jacquesprieur #meursaultperrieres

Basé à Meursault depuis 1865, le Domaine Jacques Prieur peut se targuer d’être le seul à posséder une collection unique de parcelles dans les cinq grandes et prestigieuses appellations que compte la Côte d’Or : Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Corton Charlemagne et Montrachet. Avec ses 9 Grands Crus et ses 14 Premiers Crus répartis sur la Côte de Nuits au nord et sur la Côte de Beaune plus au sud, le Domaine Jacques Prieur, fondé par Jacques Prieur, est conduit depuis 1988 par la famille Labruyère, mais toujours aux côtés de la famille Prieur. Ces 2 familles s’attachent à vinifier et à élaborer avec exigence, dans le plus pur style bourguignon, des Chardonnay et des Pinot Noir de grande race exprimant chacun une forte personnalité empruntée à chaque climat qui compose sa grande mosaïque de parcelles en Côte d’Or. Brochet’s Les Hauts Chardonnays — from old vines at the very top of Mont Benoit — is consistently one of my favourite cuvées from Emmanuel’s lineup, with boundless energy and just the right amount of oxidative character. Although slightly rustic at the outset, Prieur’s Chambertin gradually gained concentration and depth over the course of the evening — an admirable effort indeed, given the vintage. Finally, Zankyo Super 7 is a welcome reminder that we should all drink more sake, with its laser-focused precision and clarity. Can’t get over that polishing ratio!

Mini Chambertin-study 2002 Frederic Esmonin Chambertin - The nose felt quite muted at first with some floral notes, cherries, and primary fruit flavors. Good acidity on the palate and generally more approachable flavors with red berries and cherries, and forest notes. Good finish. A subtle wine that’s clearly not showing everything right now. It grew on me with air in the glass and clearly needs more time 1997 Domaine Trapet Chambertin - Fragrant nose with earthy notes, red cherries, and violets that reminded me slightly of a nice Barolo. Good acidity on the palate with red berries and cherries, tannins that are slightly grippy, more earth, and underwood notes. Nice finish. This was really very good and kept getting better with air. 2005 Domaine Jacques Prieur Chambertin - Quite dark nose with cherries, some oak, and smoke notes. Good acidity with present yet integrated tannins, more dark fruit, berries, cherries, and earthy notes. Nice finish. Overall, a very good wine that shows clear signs of oak, but it’s starting to integrate. Another night of delicious French wines Russ Cobb's wines are such dead ringers for Burgundy; this 2015 is still rather tight, though delicious. The '15 Suchots from Lamarche is actually showing more fruit and complexity. Morey's Meursaults are underrated imo...this '19 is just coming around, only slightly reductive, revealing the depth one would expect from a top notch Perrières. Suenen is an up and coming producer, one of a few producing a Oiry Grand Cru. This a rich wine, lovely fruit, just the right amount of pastry, sumptuous! Serata di livello pazzesco con la formula una a testa per provare assieme dei vini che non si bevono mai, a tavola ed in relax Sarò sintetico 😅 Salon 2002 è pazzescamente indietro, ha bisogno di molta aria per crescere nel bicchiere ma è un vino a mio avviso ancora all'inizio del suo cammino, senti la materia dello chardonnay di livello assoluto ma siano distanti da ciò che sarà tra 10 anni, mio avviso manco avvicinarsi a guardare la bottiglia, comunque con cotechino è gloria assoluta 😍 Montrachet 2000 Prieur è una bottiglia magica perché riesce a fondere il grasso della 2000 con una stratificazione minerale e acida importante, vino strutturato, complesso, fuori dal tempo e dalle mode, ha ancora il floreale, la nocciola e una punta agrumata quasi candita che spingono in mezzo a burro fuso e tratti vegetali da alpeggio, naso e bocca si rimandano continuamente, erano anni che non bevevo un bianco così ❣️ Echézeaux 1997 DRC ha 26 anni,viene da una annata non indimenticabile, aveva pure un tappo non bellissimo...solo che questo vino si è dimenticato di queste 3 cose e regala un bicchiere veramente emozionante, certo non abbiamo più la caramella alla fragola degli Echézeaux giovani odierni e la parte speziata è fusa, ma abbiamo fiore, frutto maturo dolce, cuoio e tratto marino, resina e incenso nel finale. La bocca non è di potenza ma allunga sulla parte cremosa e acida ben vive entrambe in equilibrio perfetto, una bottiglia struggente per dirla come fanno quelli bravi oggi 😎 Nota a margine, sullo sfondo Boschera 2016, alla cieca questo vino creerebbe seri problemi a un tavolo di Franciacorta di medio calibro, non si capisce dove possa arrivare questo vino che ancora adesso sfoga irruenza, a me è piaciuto veramente molto Il solo problema è che questo 2024 per il bere è iniziato veramente in modo deciso e proseguirà così per una decina di giorni, mi preoccupa che sparo subito tutti i jolly e poi possa essere un anno di rincorse 😅 Ciccia e chef adeguati ai vini 😎 #champagnesalon #echezeaux #domainedelaromanéeconti #montrachetgrandcru #jacquesprieur #boschera #zanoneros #salon2002 #winepassion #wineinstagram

At least a glass each, at least an hour each, to be sipped and savored slowly, with delicious food, with good company of family and/or friends. All the wines were drinking wonderfully, and I can still recall how each smelled and tasted. It is only possible when you allow each wine enough time to slowly unfurl in the glass and express itself. 2023년 마지막 와인... 저는 테이블에 너무 많은 와인이 올라오는것, 좋아하지 않습니다. 같이 마실 사람들, 같이 먹을 음식들을 생각하며, 모임에 참여하는 각자 신경써서 준비한 한병한병이 맥시멈으로 빛을 발할수 있는 충분한 시간과 기회를 받았으면 하는 마음이 들어서 입니다. 좋은 친구들 또는 가족들과 함께하는 따듯한 자리. 와인과 잘 어울리는 맛있고 넉넉한 요리. 적어도 모두가 풀 글라스로 한잔 이상씩..그리고 적어도 한시간씩은 찬찬히 놓고 즐길수 있어야한다고 생각합니다. 다른 이야기 하다가도, 다른 와인을 마시다가도, 나중에 다시 revisit할수 있는 충분한 시간과 여유까지도요. 지난 2023년의 마지막 와인디너도, 같이 나눈 와인들 하나하나 글라스 안에서 시시각각 변하는 모습들을 발견하고, 맛보고, 또 같이 이야기 할수 있어서 좋았습니다☺️🥰 세심하게 고르고, 준비한 그 마음마저 전달되었던 저녁. 훌룽한 와인들 쉐어해 주셔서 감사합니다.

Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle, from a blend of 3 vintages and a maximum of 11 grand crus. Mostly chardonnay, with a little pinot noir. I got this bottle 5 years ago, and did not note the Iteration—it was in a great spot, and made me glad I’d waited to open it. Cedric Bouchard VV/R19, smooth and long and one of my favorite BdeNs. My first Pierre Gerbais. La Loge, 100% pinot blanc, 80 yo vines, extra brut (3g/l); really enjoyable. Random mix. Both ‘76 and ‘81 rieslings alive and still kicking, which blows my mind. [ Retour sur notre dernier « Dîner Privé » de l’année ] 🍷 Nous avons eu la chance de passer un moment privilégié, entourés de quelques clients, autour des vins du Domaine Jacques Prieur, avec la présence exceptionnelle de Nadine Gublin. Accompagnée de l’excellente cuisine de Bruno Doucet du restaurant la Régalade, chaque cuvée a su nous transporter un peu plus sur ces terres bourguignonnes. 🍽️ Un champagne grand cru pour le verre d’accueil, puis un Clos du Moulin à Vent pour accompagner un joli pâté en croûte ! 🥂 Des Saint-Jacques truffées sublimaient un merveilleux Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Santenots 2015, quand le homard, lui, révélait l’aromatique extraordinaire du Montrachet Grand Cru 2014. Enfin, le Volnay 1er Cru Santenots 2016 et le Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 2016, étaient au diapason sur un plat canaille de lièvre, rôti et en civet. Un très beau moment d’échange et de partage. Une magnifique soirée qui clôt nos dîners 2023. Beautiful bottle of volnay Santenots 2017 by Domaine Jacques Prieur over a relaxed meal. Like the other 17s, this too was in its element and showed all the classic volnay characters. Great intensity & ruby red color. Very airy and floral on the nose with mint , licorice & sweet spices . The palate is smooth, elegant with red cherries, and vanilla. Lights tannins and medium finish. Definitely in the drinking zone now ..
