Once all was calm again, I sat down, put my feet up and took a sip of my glass of what I thought was going to be a nondescript fizz but then stood up and checked the bottle and researched it immediately⚡️What my lovely friend had brought with her was a bottle from @camelvalleyvineyard just a few miles away from where she lives. The youngest of us get to pick the beverage [her pick] … a South Africa’s sparkling rosé. Vibrant. Juicy fruit of raspberry, strawberry … red fruits w/shade of white flowers and lemon rinds. Ten years old pinot blanc from Germany? Anyone? You should because this is a stunner! It’s at least five years since my previous bottle, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I believe that, for me, this is at a very very nice place right now. The acidity is still there (I like acidity in my whites) but there’s also ripe fruit, perhaps even pine apple, that took me by surprise. It wasn’t cloying, sweet fruit but something that gave a bit more depth to the wine. Really looking forward to the two remaining bottles. #schäferfröhlich #weingutschäferfröhlich

Over this weekend I had the chance to open this incredible @hilloftarawines Cabernet | Cabernet Franc blend by @winemakingnomad with some close relatives and it did not disappoint! 🍷 This wine is 70% Cab, 30% Cab Franc which in my opinion is a perfect blend of the 2 varietals showing off the backbone of black fruit and tannins associated to Cabernet, and the simple presence of red fruit, spice, and bell pepper that you’ll typically find in Cab Franc. 🍷 I also love how I was able to tell the story of this wine which you can find in Episode 141 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, link in bio! 🍷 If you’re looking for a wine with a cool story that can drink by itself or with food, or something with exclusivity which you would need to receive allocation opportunities in order to get your hands on then this wine is for you! 🍷 Cheers 🍷

Ein Ortswein von 2020 mit leichten 11% und einer angenehmen Säure. Typischer Duft nach gelben Früchten und ein langer Abgang. 🇦🇹/🇭🇺 Franz Weninger 'Ponzichter' 2021 Franz Weninger is een van de top-wijnboeren op het gebied van rode wijn in Oostenrijk. Hij komt uit Horitschon in het gebied Mittelburgenland, grenzend aan Hongarije, en produceert hier met name rode wijnen. In 2011 nam hij uiteindelijk samen met zijn vrouw Petra de leiding over het landgoed over en leidt nu de Hongaarse en Oostenrijkse wijngaarden van de familie Weninger. De wijngaarden zijn 25 hectare groot en beplant met blaufränkisch, merlot, zweigelt, cabernet sauvignon, st. laurent en blauer burgunder. Veel wijngaarden zijn al zeer oud met stokken tot een leeftijd van ongeveer 80 jaar. Het is een bijzondere wijn. Niet alleen omdat het biologische-dynamisch gemaakt is, maar ook omdat de druiven voor deze wijn uit zowel Oostenrijk als Hongarije komen. Het is een blend van Zweigelt, Cabernet Franc en Pinot Noir. Het levert een lichte wijn op met veel rood fruit. Het heeft wat aards, zure kersjes en zachte afdronk. Heerlijk zomerwijntje!
