Thankful for my crew🍂✨ . (Even though we all have a hard time looking at the camera) . This year has been the most challenging year of our life as a family. Bringing 27 weeker twins home after a long nicu stay in the middle of flu season, a lot of what ifs, I have no clue what we are doing and just do it because the doctor said so, a lot of tears and a lot of love. Next month the twins are 1 year old corrected, and I can’t wait to officially say we survived one year of twins. This thanksgiving was special. The twins were with us. Last year we had no choice but to leave the hospital due to a virus we all caught, so we headed home without the twins (161km away) and celebrated thanksgiving with our hearts in two places. This year we were all together and for that I am forever thankful. Full heart and full bellies after two turkey dinners ❤️🍂✨

Went down memory lane tonight. and so so thankful this is all behind us. It was a time in our lives we needed to trust in God more then anything and lean on each other more then ever. 76 11 hour days spent holding our extremely tiny babies covered in wires and big machines and noise and nurses talking in what seemed like a different language. We will let you know when are ready for visitors, it’s going to be a slow transition. The babies immune systems cannot be compromised, as they are more susceptible to germs & having a toddler in the house definitely doesn’t help. It’ll make me think twice about being out & about while feeling under the weather, because you never know who will be effected by it. . Harvey & I snuck back home for a mini vacation from hospital life, anddddd I needed to get my last wisdom tooth pulled, we thought while the babies are stable & not needing me, now would be the best time. #notimelikethepresent . It was a nice mental break, & so good for Harvey to be around family & his cousins💙 . Definitely felt my heart being in two different places for the first time in my life. It was tough, but Kyle stayed with the babies & got amazing amounts of baby cuddles. . I’m back at the Hospital now & snuggling with my growing, healthy girl & feeling recharged. Twin update. . Clark & Isla have been in the nicu for 17 days & improving a little everyday. Both are gaining a little (& I mean a little!) weight every day, but that is exactly what we all want. Both are still on cpap, going to get tested in a couple days to see if they can come off of it, but it isn’t a rush because they are still so little & technically 30 weeks. Isla had to go on something called Biphasic cpap yesterday, which meant an extra “umph” of air, which felt like a step in the wrong direction, so I added it to a nicu baby prayer list the twins are on, & when Kyle & I went in for skin to skin this morning she had been taken off of it & was doing just fine without it🙌🏼 . Harvey joined us in our little apartment yesterday & we are happy to have him finally with us but it’ll be a juggling act trying to get skin to skin with a baby while one of us runs the hospital hallways with a toddler😳🙏 just preparing us for when we are all home together. . Our soon to be reality is setting in🙈 #3under2 . Nicu life is interesting, at first you don’t want to even touch the babies because they look so tiny, delicate & hooked up to so many wires & monitors, But the nurses have patience with the parents & explain what everything means & how feisty the babies really are. Slowly we start learning their schedule, how to change diapers, check temperatures, bath time etc. We start to feel more ‘comfortable’ in the nicu, & looking more & more forward to bringing these babies home & our crazy future ahead. . One year ago today I was 36 weeks and 4 day pregnant. I woke up, headed to the hospital for some more blood work, an ultrasound & my third stress test that week, prior to finding out I had ICP/Cholestasis, an emotional wreck I was. (ICP is found in 1% of woman during the third trimester, your liver is under a ton of stress which creates to much bile, which is toxic for the baby and is very dangerous anywhere pass 37 weeks. Signs are itchy hands & feet, nauseous, feeling of being unwell or mild depression, right quadriceps pain, be sure to reach out to your OGBYN if you experience any of the symptoms!!) then after that the hubs and I went to Milanos, a local coffee shop to fuel up & take a breather from the emotional hospital life. Later on that day after more tears & a nap we sat through beauty & the beast which I was incredibly uncomfortable the entire time. Little did we know that, that in the wee hours of the night Harvey would arrive safely in our arms without the scheduled induction.
