One thing I’ve learned from Johnny is that for every problem, there’s a solution. We’re in Texas right now and here’s a few of the ways we’ve made it work while traveling. Problem: Crying in the car ➡️Hop in the back, roll your windows down, and remove hair tie. Wind blown hair is free entertainment and you don’t need wifi. Problem: Little one poops in his swim diaper at the beach ➡️ Dig a giant hole, bury it in the sand, and now you have an activity plus easy clean up. X marks the spot. Problem: Your kid pukes in the sandwich shop ➡️ Hastily clean it up and apologize to the waiters who will then turn around and give you free ice cream. (Did he plan this?!) Problem: The service you’ve used for years to transport your bike is now shut down. ➡️ Round up a cardboard box and some duct tape. You don’t need fancy to do good work. Problem: The hotel room isn’t set up for kids - my oldest rolls and there’s no bed rail, and we didn’t bring a pack n play for our toddler. ➡️ Reconfigure the space. Move one bed to the wall, one mattress to the floor, and the bed frame becomes a bookcase, the floor a play space. (They turned it into a diving board, but ok). Problem: The hotel isn’t showing any kids movies ➡️ Watch the only thing on- the bowling championship. By the end of it, the kids will be shouting “Go Russo! You’ve got this!” Problem: Your kid rages for the whole of the flight. ➡️ Hand him a slinky and close your eyes. We’re preparing for an upcoming trip and aside from the typical logistics of traveling with a toddler, we have to take extra precautions and research for food options at our destinations, packing allergy safe snacks because you know delays at airports can be disastrous. So it’s great to know that @jetblue takes one less worry off of our plate! Yes we will be wiping down surfaces at our seat and carrying plenty of hand sanitizer. We wanted to make a little post to introduce ourselves a bit more and we'd love it if you'd jump to the comments and share a bit about yourself too so we can get to know each other ☺️ [🇩🇪 ᴵⁿ ᵈᵉⁿ ᴷᵒᵐᵐᵉⁿᵗᵃʳᵉⁿ] So, hello fellow food and travel enthusiasts, meet us, the traveling trio that's always on the hunt for the best food 👨👩👦 We actually met 11 years ago during a summer I (Vanessa, "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗺") spent at home when I was living and studying in Amsterdam. After a year of long distance, "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗱" followed me to Amsterdam to study there too. We lived together in a 15 m2 room in a flat with 3 roommates for 5 years because Amsterdam housing prices are horrible. Soon we realised, even on this tiny space we work out perfectly 🥰 Yet it was rough as we both lived off 200€ per month each. Once we found some side jobs next to our master's, we did everything to save money and go on our first trip. So we spent 4 weeks in Thailand and Myanmar on a tiny budget of 850€ and it was AWESOME 🏖️ especially food wise 🤤 In the following years we ate our way through Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy and Greece. Since I travel for my job, I also ate my way through Uganda and Rwanda. After 6 years in the Netherlands we moved back to Austria and we transitioned from absolute budget travelers to mid-range travelers who like to splurge every now and again. Especially when it comes to eco- and family-friendly accomodation 😋 And since 1.5 years, our 𝘄𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 joined our journey. This little extrovert helps us make even more new connections and puts a new perspective on everything by simply being present in every moment and easily content with so little. We've travelled quite a bit, mostly to see our families and friends but our longest and farthest trip was 6 weeks in Singapore and Bali when he was 10-11 months old and it was an amazing experience we wouldn't wanna miss.

First family camping trip in our “new” camper ☑️ We spent the weekend outside with some of the best people! So much fresh air, little sunburns, yummy food and lots of dirty little faces! 🫶🏼 The kids absolutely loved it (I mean, just swipe through the last four pics taken on our last night/morning) 🥺 As we were leaving, Trussler asked if we were on our way to a different campsite now, because he wasn’t ready to go home! I got to share a bed with little J and Trussler shared the other queen bed with Austin on the other end of our camper! We definitely learned little things a long the way, but nothing went so smoothly and we all left happy, rejuvenated and also very exhausted! I slept like a rock back in my bed last night 😂 We stayed at a random RV site, close enough to check out Palouse Falls, Lyons State Park and close enough to Dayton for extra snacks and groceries! The site was so clean, quiet and well-kept and we’d definitely recommend! We came back to Texas this morning! While family was gathered to squeeze the last drops of time spent in real time, my kids were happy and held (🥹) and I said—- I’m about to spend hooouuuurrs in traffic (CDMX ammirite?), at the airport looking for the right place to be, finding luggage, all with two babies—- I need to take 4 minutes for my meditation. I mean that’s about as long as if I had excused myself to poo, which is acceptable, right? Logan’s first flight was a success thanks to a lot of prep and shopping on Amazon (links saved in highlights under “travel”) We were on the plane for almost 4 hours. Some of my favorite tips for the plane: 1. Pouches for take off and landing 2. Sticker books. Sticker books. And more sticker books (these were his favorite, reusable, and so light to pack) 3. Toddler headphones for shows - this is what helped him relax enough to take a nap) 4. Travel magnetic tiles - he loved just stacking them and putting them in and taking them out of the box at this age 5. Wooden lacing apple - he liked this too but I definitely see it for more of an 18 month plus age toy I made this post while we are laying on the beach, listening to the waves crashing and he is napping on me. Life is good! . . I’m getting the travel bug and wanting to take advantage of him flying for free while I still can (up to 2 years old). Where else is great spot to travel with a toddler?! 🌈 Hello from beautiful Mexico! If there is one country that was not on my radar before moving to Miami, it was Mexico. “In Alaska, you can go out your door and be in a completely different world.” ~ Bear Grylls I have always wanted to go to Alaska. I am excited to announce that my kids and I will take an EPIC Road Trip from New York to Alaska. On June 6th, we will hit the road and head to Alaska. Suppose I were driving straight through it would take about three days. However, my partner is a school teacher and can’t take this drive with us, so we will take our time getting there (I figure 9 days). We will stay in the States as long as we can. Staying in the States gives us more opportunities to get out of the car and stop at kid-friendly places. We have memberships with ASTC (Association of Science and Technology Centers), AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums), and ACM (Association of Children’s Museums). Each association has a list of museums and zoos/aquariums that we can get into for free or at a discounted rate (usually 50%) across the States. Our ASTC membership is global so that we can use it in other countries. Please join us on this EPIC Road Trip. Follow along for the planning process, tips, tricks, and advice. On June 6, 2024, we will start our journey from New York to Alaska and Alaska back to New York. I know this isn’t easy, but it will be worth it. This spring break we flew to Houston to board a #royalcaribbean cruise ship #voyageroftheseas to explore puerto costa maya and Cozumel. We had two connecting Oceanview rooms that gave us a good bit of space and TWO bathrooms and TWO closest. We enjoyed pool time, mini golf, free icecream and the boys enjoyed the adventure ocean room. Jackson enjoyed the backyard and living room which is the teen only area! In Cozumel we took an excursion to the adventure park that had so much to do that we couldn't get it all done in 3 hours. Food and drinks were included in our excursion which was so nice. We chose to self assist off the boat and were off by 7:45am. Which was so nice to get the rental car and head to NASA! When in Houston we were able to get all the sights in in a day and a half: -NASA - Texas BBQ - Houston zoo (which is one of the best ones we've been too) - Astros Game against the Rangers - Voodoo doughnuts (which if you know me you know I'm obsessed with their doughnuts) Galveston is one the best ports to depart and arrive from we have ever been through.
