Happy National Gardening Week everyone 💚 This year the theme from @the_rhs is ‘Knowledge is Flower’ It might seem odd to kick this off with a post about sowing peas but of course peas do flower even if they are not all sweet 😉 These seeds are part of my seed guardian work with @heritageseedlibrary as these are fairly rare seeds but according to the story they were discovered in an Egyptian tomb so are called Mummy Pea. I’ve grown them before and they grew well so hopefully they go well this year and we can build up the stock of seeds The @woolpots.uk were gifted by @mrfothergills as part of another project for charity, more on that later I always try to avoid buying new plastic pots and will always reuse the ones I get with any plants I buy. This part of the Party & Sips class (the sweet 🍓) always gets the creativity going. 👩🍳While these are, in theory, cooking classes, I’m much more interested in “connection” to our food, to our inner self, to one another. So we take beautiful 🍃herbs and 🫐berries and dip them in a simple syrup to make them sticky, then a gentle roll in super fine sugar to give them a ❄️snow like appearance. Das Haus der 100 Katzen In der Nähe von Tulcea haben wir mit Venera eine Frau in ihrem Haus besucht. Aus allen Ecken schauten uns Augen - teils verschreckt, teils neugierig - an. Viele von ihnen waren verschnupft, viele Mamas mit ihren Kitten. Von ein paar Tage alt bis ein paar Wochen. Auch hier fehlt Geld, um alle medizinisch ausreichend zu versorgen. Aber was sollen die TierschützerInnen vor Ort machen. Lassen sie die Katzen auf der Straße, sterben sie. Also nehmen sie viel zu viele auf, in der Hoffnung sie so retten zu können und anschließend kastrieren zu lassen. Auch bei Venera laufen einige Miezen rum. Besuch bei Claudia Claudia ist ausgebildete Psychologin, die zusammen mit drei anderen Kollegen eine Praxis für Kinder und Jugendliche führt. Ihr Traum war es aber immer, Tierärztin zu werden. Also hat sie neben Beruf und Kinder eine 4-jährige Ausbildung zur Tierärztin im 350 km entfernten Bukarest angefangen und im vorigen Frühjahr erfolgreich beendet. Anschließend hat sie bis vor 2 Monaten bei unserer Tierärztin gearbeitet. Jetzt hat sie einen Raum anmieten können, wo sie außer OPs alle notwendigen Medikationen wie Impfen, Wunden Reinigen und Versorgen etc. durchführt. Man bringt ihr auch verletzte Straßentiere, die sie pflegt und ein gutes Zuhause für sie sucht. Sie ist sehr engagiert und mit Leib und Seele Tierärztin. Happy Saturday! A post in one of my Gen X groups caused me to remind people that when you assume others have bad intentions in their interactions with you, you're poisoning your own mind and straining the relationship with that person, even if it is one as simple as customer/employee. I know that it is hard not to. We're bombarded with constant negativity in this world. The negative gets more attention, sadly. So, we respond by always being on guard. But, maybe, if we led with positive assumptions, we would see fewer negative outcomes. I'm challenging each of you to practice. Start TODAY! My very first realization of this was when my daughter was a pre-teen, maybe 11. We were driving through the Lohman/Telshor intersection. For you Las Crucens, you know how it is 😖 I got mad at another driver for doing something discourteous. My daughter told me that maybe they made a mistake and they would never do that normally. Maybe this was just a one off incident for them that I just happened to witness and haven't I ever done something like that by accident before. 😱🤯 WOW! She was SOOOOO right! When I have, I have felt so bad and chanted sorry sorry sorry. But they can't hear me and they were probably cussing me out just like I had this person. So, then I started practicing having #generousassumptions I also started practicing in classes. As an instructor, it is too easy to assume that someone doesn't like you/your class if they leave early or don't come to class or aren't smiling. But, you have no idea why they left/didn't come. Maybe they had an appointment, maybe they got an upset tummy, maybe, maybe, maybe. But whatever the reason, it is theirs, not yours. I always try assuming the positive and while I have not perfected it...remember the time I got upset when someone called me sir 🤣...and my automatic response is often a negative assumption, I've gotten much better at immediately reminding myself that I'm probably assuming wrong. For your own peace of mind, be generous with your assumptions. Warum fällt es so schwer wertschätzend, achtsam, freundlich, wohlgesonnen und fröhlich miteinander umzugehen? Warum ist es so schwer sich von den negativen Einflüssen des Äußeren abzugrenzen? Ich hoffe immer noch, dass es in naher Zukunft endlich eine Kehrtwende diesbezüglich geben wird. Dass die soziale Arbeit (jedweder Art) endlich den Stellenwert bekommt, den sie verdient. Dass wir Menschen den undefinierbaren Wert jedes Einzelnen wieder sehen und uns gegenseitig unterstützen und Gutes tun. Das beginnt schon im Kleinen im täglichen Leben. Ein Lächeln, freundliche Worte und Rücksichtnahme jedem Gegenüber. I was delighted to offer the Party Foods and Sips interactive class, these fun folks jumped right in and we rolled Proscuitto basil and chicken with an avocado dip with, surprise, a dollop of horseradish - yum! This is what silent battles look like. I am literally living my dream, painting my favorite flowers, turning ordinary into extraordinary, and bringing color to everything I touch.
