Dead Boy Detectives (Season One) Netflix (2024) Originally appearing in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, (drawn by Matt Wagner and Malcolm Jones III) in 1991, Dead Boy Detectives has appeared in various forms over the years, most recently in the third season of The Doom Patrol. D.B.D. tells the story of two decesaed teen boys who decide to not to move on to the Afterlife, but stay on Earth and solve supernatural crimes. They team up with a psychic suffering from amnesia after being possessed by a demon and a bubbly Asian girl who was possessed by Sprites. Dead Boy Detectives isn’t as dark and serious as The Sandman series, being more reminiscent of the light-hearted Good Omens series. Although each episode revolves around a case, several subplots recur through the season, including the boys being hunted by an agent of the Afterlife, who wants them to pass onto the next stage; a malevolent cursed witch who wants to get rid of those meddling kids as well as dealing with the king of Cats…who is a cat, so basically, a jerk. Edwin Paine (@georgerexstrew) y Charles Rowland (@jaydenrevri) se unen para crear una agencia llamada Dead Boy Detectives. Ellos se dedican a resolver casos de fantasmas y invesgan lo sobrenatural en un pequeño pueblo en Port Townsend, Washington. Junto a ellos se les une una joven 'medium', que no recuerda su pasado llamada Crystal Palace (@kassiusnelson). La narrativa se desarrolla dentro del universo de @thesandmanofficial Esta serie funciona como el intermedio para lo que será la segunda temporada The Sandman, que actualmente se encuentran grabando. La historia trata sobre dos jóvenes fantasmas llamados Edwin Paine (@georgerexstrew) y Charles Rowland (@jaydenrevri) son detectives que se dedican a resolver casos paranormales. Taylor Sheridan just knows how to write consistently compelling stories better than anyone else working today. Another fantastic season of suspense, drama & tension filled television. Jeremy Renner kills it in this role, he is fantastic, the supporting cast is also stella. The complex, interweaving stories, the compelling characters, the conflicting factions & motives, all work so well with a new take on a familiar genre. The only real criticism I have for the season is the C plot with the mother character & the kid in juvenile detention. I wasn't a fan of the side story & I assume there must be a plan for it to play a part in season 3, because it went nowhere in this season. But every time we cut to the mother & that story thread I was counting the seconds until we were back with the main stories. Review Deep Blue Sea 2 2018 Blu-ray Rating: 1/5 Deep Blue Sea 2 is a sequel to a wildly over the top action-horror original and has no appealing aspects to recommend it. The film is a direct to video continuation of the series with no connection to the original and the use of its title is to cash grab viewers who’re fans of the first film. The screenplay is almost a copy of the original and with the lower budget they’re unable to create any atmosphere or tension. Filmmaker Darin Scott has had minimal success as a director and there’s not a lot of style to suggest mainstream appeal. Scott has been more dominant as producer and writer with some directing VOD titles scattered throughout. The key problem with the film is a lack of connection to the previous film and just a tired rehash plot. The screenplay is just weak and the claustrophobic setting never feels threatening. There’s the inclusion of the shark pups as an additional threat, but nothing can save this film. An obvious low budget and third tier screenplay with shallow characters was never going to be a companion to the original film. I’m interested why they used the 2 in the title and I would argue you can just rewatch the original for what is essentially the same film with minor additions. Scott is not Renny Harlin and this belated sequel was more a reboot. I've had a bit of a mental block on this piece for a while. I just got to a certain point and got well and truly stuck. Had no idea where I wanted with it. Today, I finally figured out that the prison was in the wrong place... too much negative space on one side. It was throwing the whole thing off. Whilst it's true, the prison itself is its own character in this show, it's still the people that are the most complex and intriguing. Soo many interesting characters to choose from. Each having a ripple effect on Mike's decisions. In @mayorofkingstown , there is no such thing as a minor character. Each have their part to play, and each moves the story along. Probably why I love #taylorsheridan work. And it seems @hughdillon now, too! Genuinely excited to see @jeremyrenner return as tough as nails Mike Mclusky and all the rest of this incredible cast in season 3. June 2nd, @paramountplus ,there will be a reckoning...
