🄵🄸🄻🄼: 7.0 James Cameron's mid-90s action spectacle has languished on DVD for 30 years, treated as the somewhat ugly stepchild of the peak period of his career. It's now hit 4K, and I've given True Lies another spin. It's still a blast from the past, with this action romp holding up pretty well. Let's start with the dynamic duo of James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Despite its somewhat neglected status, True Lies is a testament to Cameron's knack for blending action and comedy seamlessly. And who better to bring that vision to life than Schwarzenegger himself? His chemistry with Jamie Lee Curtis is undeniable, and their banter adds a layer of charm to the film. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Some aspects of the film haven't aged as gracefully as others. Harry's questionable treatment of his wife Helen is definitely a sore point, and the portrayal of terrorists feels a bit dated by today's standards. And let's not forget about the stunt doubles. The Grudge - Exklusiv Limited Steelbook - Blu-ray 🇺🇸 While the old Grudge films, through their consistently atmospheric Japano horror, gave me many a nightmare, this film only makes me smile tiredly. The film didn’t really manage to build up tension for me, which is also due to the other narrative style, which with its many retrospectives/parallel stories is more reminiscent of a Trentino film and repeatedly pulls you out of current events. As far as horror style is concerned, this film unfortunately also distances itself from its predecessors and mainly relies on disgusting bloody images instead of horror, which even extends to the design of the curse itself. 🇩🇪 Während mir die alten Grudge Filme, durch ihren durchgängig atmospährischen Japano Horror, so manchen Alptraum bescherten, lässt mich dieser Film nur müde lächeln. Der Film hat es bei mir nicht wirklich geschafft Spannung aufzubauen, was auch der anderen Erzählweise geschuldet ist, die mit ihren vielen Rückblicken/ parallel Geschichten eher an einen Trentino Film erinnert und einen immer wieder aus dem aktuellen Geschehen rausreißt.
