As moms we spend SO much time carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. We take on the problems and concerns of our loved ones. So today I was judged for being dressed in Indian wear by an Indian. I was waiting to board the flight; and they thought of me as a Non English speaking and classless. Constantly passing snide remarks on my bindi, attire and looking so desi. I simply was not paying heed to them. My moment came when an elderly lady needed help, she was apparently separated from her family members. She was a Bengali speaking old lady clad and almost in tears. I saw that no one was willing to help. I went to her and pacified her in Bengali and then approached the airport personnel. I was constantly conversing with the airport people in English and was patiently trying to help the lady. And at last her family members were found. I went back to take my seat, waiting for another bout of those nasty comments since no other seat was available. But to my amazement, they were all praises. I thought of giving them a piece of my mind, but held my horses and just took a deep breath and let them be. My learning from today was that Be proud of whatever you wear. Indian wear is very beautiful. It is ok to choose modern outfits ; but being modern from thoughts is much more fashionable , beautiful and needed. Never leave your roots. Proud to be desi. Pumpkin Patch 2018 It was the first time we went to a pumpkin patch as a family. Ryan enjoyed the petting zoo, picking his own pumpkin to carve & of course the carnival games. He was pointing to things, asking to do certain activities, asking questions, making choices… It was amazing to see my little papash so happy & engaged with his surroundings. It was truly awesome to see how far he had come. Oh & if you don’t see much of Alexa it’s because she was not in the mood. It takes strength and courage to speak your truth. One of my core values is to always lead with integrity and honesty. I want to do it ALL and support as many people as I can. BabyK has been scared of hair cutting since 1.5 years. We used to cut his hair when he used to sleep. The moment he used to see the scissor or the trimmer he used to cry and howl. Today we managed to cut his hair when he was wide awake with screen time on the mobile phone. He did not scared. Why was he scared ? Well no one really knows when a fear gets instilled in a child. It maybe for no reason whatsoever. What did we do ? We as parents kept on convincing him that haircut will remove all germs from his hair, it will make you look dapper. Once or twice we even bribed him for big toys. But nothing worked. He remained scared. Deep down I was scared that what if the fear remained, how would he get his hair cut done when he grows up. My patience waned. Everytime everyone around me used to advice me to use force to cut his hair. Once I even tried to hold him tight to get his hair cut done. But he was so scared that he kept on crying for two hours even before the haircut began. We left it midway. My patience was waning, and one day I just came across an article while browsing online that never force your child. It mentioned that if your child is scared of something , try telling them stories around it, try doing those activities in front of him , try removing his fear with patience and love. Thus as parents we began our journey of convincing Kavish for haircut every Sunday(when most of the male family members of my house would go for hair cut). He would start crying at the mention of hair cut. But slowly and steadily he started saying that please cut my hair when I am asleep, so that the germs get removed from my hair. And today the day came when he said I am ready to get my hair cut done. @nandandidwania did all the convincing today and we managed this feat. This maybe a small thing, but m really happy and relieved about it . So just felt like sharing. The little button face that may have fooled me.. I took my little girl to build a bear for the first time to show her my appreciation for her support and patience. Business has been demanding and she has been cheering me on! Celebrating multiple offer battles wins, hugging and kissing me when multiple offers were not in favour, dancing when offers get accepted and really, keeping busy willingly. What better way to treat her than to bring her to build a bear. Right away she’s debating between a fox and Eevee (Pokémon) I tell her just choose one and we will get the other one on her birthday. She goes for the fox because her father introduced her to that funny song “what does the fox say” a month ago and it’s been paying on Alexa daily 😅 The Bear was $30 and she wanted an outfit saw the cost and said for the same price she rather gets the fox a food bowl because she doesn’t want the fox to starve to death. I think to myself.. fair enough it’s even cheaper than the outfit. Then she turns around and asks for a “bed” I looked at the price and said hunny the price of the bed is the same as the bear, not this time. She mentioned I saved money on the difference from the outfit to the food bowl. Ha ha. The answer is still no. I pay for the bear and food bowl and we leave. At home she asks if she uses her own money, can we go back and buy the bed..I naturally said no, and can you please use your money wisely. She goes, mom, it’s my money and I wish to buy that bed, please. I then realized, she has never used her cash and she’s been saving her money, so I say fine. The few days passed we go back to build a bear, she turns to me and say, since the bed is the same price of a bear she thinks money is better spent on another bear 😳 Just like that, she got herself Eevee before her birthday.
